[Archived] Wolves Away - 9Th April

We got £9million, plus a very likely £2million more, for a player, IMV, worth nowhere near that as evidenced by the fact that there was only one club in the queue at that price. I think Rhodes was a 'flat track' bully who scored goals for fun except where and when it really mattered. No real PL interest, no real recognition at international level, I think says it all. If M'boro go up, would be no surprised to see Rhodes loaned out / sold to a Championship club in Jan. 2017.

That's all well and good but the 9m in Madame's back pocket does us no good at all. Only an idiot or someone who has painted themselves into a corner on the Rhodes issue over the years like den would argue that we are not immeasurably worse off having to rely on the likes of Jackson and Brown.

Well there's that Josh King lad scoring again in the PL. Never good enough for the Championship...

From BBC:

GOAL - Aston Villa 0-2 Bournemouth

Joshua King (73 mins)

Cute finish.

Reminds of Michael Owen in his pomp.

No one disputes that Rhodes is preferable over Jackson and Brown.

The fact is, it would have been madness not to take a deal for a player of Rhodes' limited ability that very likely will realise £11million plus and save some £2.5million / season in wage and National Insurance costs. We are haemorrhaging money and without the Rhodes' deal who knows what our owners might have been tempted to do - they've already issued £1.4million in shares in mid Feb. to presumably keep us afloat.

If done well there's the cheer if done poorly there's the boo. What for this. The yawn. Terrible game. Two terrible sides. Terrible atmosphere. As I thought very enjoyable day up until 3. And will be from about 4.50. Why do we bother.

Really den? I know you hate him but you need to re-tune your abacus mate.

Since we sold him we've scored 19 goals in 15 games.

Prior to selling him we scored 14 goals in 15 games.

Even more importantly, in the 17 games prior to selling him we won just 3.

My abacus is fine.

You'll see what madness is if Lambert leaves after selling our top goalscorer.

Though it probably won't be madness it'll more likely just be a whimper then that's that.

Sounds like a pitiful game but a good point and safety almost guaranteed

Seems secondary to the bigger picture at the moment mind you

Shows how low expectations have plummeted under Lambert's watch when we're eulogising over a 0-0 draw away at a mediocre Wolves side.

Let's not pretend they are lower than they were under Bowyer

Before the match I wondered if we would win a match for the rest of the season. With Graham's injury I now wonder if we will score another goal. :(

Well...at least we didn't lose.

'Excellent' Den? It's obviously an alright result as I thought we'd lose but I wouldn't go that far.

Losing Graham so early and following the last three games where we were down to ten men - I thought might have taken the fight out of them.

Lambert's watch? Expectations plummeted during the Kean reign of terror. We'll be at our natural level for some when we're playing on Witton Park.
