Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 19, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted April 19, 2016 Glad to see Mahoney getting into the team finally, hopefully it isn't the last time and he can build his confidence.
davulsukur Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Well it has and I'm not apologising for it. Its an absolute disgrace. The game hadn't even finished before you moaned about it. People might congratulate him tomorrow or later on. Calm down FFS. Not sure how Twitter works exactly not having an account, but by the looks of it, you haven't even congratulated him.

Jock Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 MK dons finished 0-0, as long as there are no freak results in last three games Were staying up! Pop that Champers Mrs D She'll be sending out for the Lobster Wallah and inviting the Mayor of Blackburn over to blow smoke up her hairy ar5e.
thegrumpyman Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Just watched highlights on sky website and there were two attacking highlights for us (the goal and a cross that hit the bar) and at least a dozen for them. Steele looked poor for the goal but made a cracking save to deny Lansbury and another good save from point blank. I still think he is at the very top of the list of needing to be replaced. From what I've seen of him (and verified by what I read on him) he is terrible. I'm desperate for something to cheer about. It's too depressing right now.

Leonard Venkhater Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Hope it's not a Venkyquito - one bite is fatal A slow lingering death, though.....
harryhealless1928 Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Dunno why they let the Dingles have about 8 minutes of additional time........but props to Jordan,at least hes trying to get us another £2 million (plus Middlesborough promoted of course)!
Commondore Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 Marshall is moved up to the wing, and immediately produces an assist. He needs to play close to the opposition's goal, simple as.
garnersfags Posted April 19, 2016 Posted April 19, 2016 The luckiest @#/? team.. Seriously when the @#/? will it even it self out.. @#/? hate Burnley so much! It's nowhere near even-ing itself out. 30-odd years is a long, long time, ask any (honest) downtrodden Claret how it feels....
arbitro Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 We deserved a point in a much improved performance (it couldn't have got much worse though) and if we had pushed on a bit more we could have nicked it. There was no real stand out performances but Mahoney looked tidy and Evans gave us some bite in midfield. My main gripe was the number of times we gave away possession through slack and careless play.

AllRoverAsia Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Don't forget to congratulate him. On Twatter or it may not count as a real vote
Athlete Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Spoke with a couple of forest season ticket holders who fully expected there players to be on the beach so didn't bother attending after the last few performances... Similar to us really Danny Grahams last possible goal for us ?
davulsukur Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Just did. @_ConnorMahoney An hour after you labelled the rest of the world a disgrace you mean. Anyway, great to hear that he played well, lets get him started in the next game.
Parsonblue Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 An improved performance over the last two matches but, in truth, that's not saying much. The quality of football in the Championship really is dreadful and the fact that we are entrenched just above the drop zone and unable to claw our way out of that merely underlines just how poor our squad really is. Having watched a lot of Mahoney's hit and miss performances for the Under-21's I was really pleased that he gave a very steady performance last night. Nothing spectacular but enough to suggest that he will, given time, be a useful addition to the squad. I thought we looked better because of the return of Evans in midfield who always puts in a shift and gives you that battling quality that's required in that area of the pitch. Lenihan, despite one or two stray passes, gave an improved performance. In the first half we looked quite dangerous at times with Graham, despite carrying an injury, working the defenders and scoring an excellent goal. Steele ought to have done better for the goal but in the second half he kept us in the game as Forest took control and peppered our goal with a string of shots which Steele and the defence kept out. There are a number of bang average sides in this division and we, sadly, are one of them. There is a huge rebuilding job required to turn us into an outfit that might get a sniff of the play-offs and without it I can't see anything but a grim battle against relegation next season.

Do you think it is a huge rebuilding ? Major possibly - but not huge. Firstly PL needs a pre-season - his style of football is hugely different to what has gone before, with significant additional fitness demands. Looking at the defence - we definitely need a new left back (one with pace please). Looking at the rest - we could obviously improve - but IMO could be a top 6 defence with a new left back. Battling midfield players - we have the market covered with Evans, Lowe, Lenihan and Apkan - what we are lacking is a creative midfield player (NOT Gomez or Grimes). We then need to address possibly the most expensive part - we need a striker/winger with genuine pace, need to agree a contract with Graham. If PL is given the finance by Venky's we will find out how good a manager he is - as even these tweaks would mean 3 or 4 players to integrate quickly into the team.
punerover Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I completely agree. Assuming that Lambert is provided funds and he is still here, if he does not address the full back problem or magically get Henley performing again, many would unfortunately call for his sacking. tomphil Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 We need a right back and stop wasting Marshall there, Lowe can cover as utility cover man for centre mid as well. The problem now though is we need a left back as well. Beginning of last season it was ok with Olsson no 1 and decent cover in Spurr who did ok in some games when he came in and crap in others. Now he's another year older and slower and there is NO cover for him. More great planning by various managers and coaches and the plonkers running the show. After the striking berths the full back positions are the next major weak points that desperately need investment just for us to be competitive in the lower half of this league.
