[Archived] Renew Or Not Renew

Recommended Posts

People should be waiting until the transfer window closes before deciding on wether to renew or not.

If the season started after the window closed as it should, then thats a viable option

As it stands you will miss at least 3 games if you do that :(

I'm still undecided, but I'll be leaving it until the last possible moment if I do. (That would be the first game of the season).

It's a catch 22 for me, I don't want them to drive me away, but I don't want it to be seen as supporting their reign.

It's only three games you pay for, meantime if they flog the best players at the eleventh hour you have some time before making that committment.

What you support is up to you! If you want to buy a ticket to protest week in week out, that's no endorsement of the ownership.

I loved the pigeon hole thing from earlier - the general jist of "can't we all just get along?"I agree with. Thing is, it's not just about me, it's about others taking swipes at others based on a decisions made on personal reasons!

By definition, is buying a product supporting the company? Yea.

But is a football club just any other product? If you answered that yes, and you still believe the first statement applies - you must not understand the difference.

I'm confused, K-Hod makes a very sensible statement about being undecided, and you've posted in reply/rant about taking swipes at people, getting along with others and personal vendettas?

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but why would you rant about such things completely out of the blue? no animosity on this thread today? why try to create some?

or maybe I'm missing the point? it has been known?

I perhaps should've quoted this after

Time to draw a line under the constant bitching. Abbey wants the Venkys Out, Chaddy wants to carry on going, jbizzle doesn't want pidgeon holing and still wants to go, Gumboots and I have had enough. So effing what? Why do I have to read that 500 times a day on here? Give your heads a wobble.

Pretty clear to me that the owners have disrespected customers long enough to deserve whatever happens with their customer base and income streams. If they genuinely do not care then they are in a minority of one and few if any other businesses operate in this fashion. Downsize your product offering, disrespect your customers, lose business. It has always been that way.

Pleasingly for them, standard product purchasing decisions and the science of customer purchase do not apply in the same manner within football. Fans are emotionally involved, often historically and it is very difficult breaking / changing lifetime habits.

It is safe to say the product now is very poor when compared to recent years, but not when compared to when I first started watching under Gordon Lee. However, were once we were skint but classy, poor but hard-working, struggling financially but not constantly waxing needless millions, we had a belief and soul that tied us all intrinsically to the badge. A belief that decisions taken were in the best interest of the club at all times.

The club as we know it is a shadow of its former self, of that few would argue. Even many of those fans renewing have considered the decision, were once it would have been a given. Those leaving may never return and sadly this period in our history is very damaging as youngsters and potential new fans are alienated forever.

Still amazes me they can let the window close after the season has started. So many teams ripped apart at the last minute with no time to react

It is totally wrong and just goes to show how much football these days is about the agents and the TV more than the fans and even the players as they get jerked about as well.

Creating drama for Sky to slaver over and a chance for the percentage men to cash in at the 11th hour when some clubs become desperate.

Just think if there wasn't the overpowering monopoly that Sky etc have then there probably wouldn't be con jobs like Venkys knocking about in our lives :(

One thing is for certain, there is no link between transfer activity and any fan reaction. They wouldn't care if no one turned up. Personally I stopped buying an ST 3 years ago because I had had enough of spending a fortune coming to watch a club who didn't care if I bothered or not. This season I won't be going to Ewood at all for the same reasons but time has moved on and we are still in the same downward cycle with no prospect of getting out. The Vs have broken me. Might go to a couple of aways if they include a good day out but apart from that...no. It' all about personal choice though and everyone makes their own decision based on their own circumstances.

There's a few of us going to Blackpool 23 July but not the match.

Been reading this topic for a while and clearly there are some who have entrenched views that are'nt going to change until the day that Venkys up sticks and leave.

The rest of us have to make decisions on whether to renew based on things like money, travel or just simple enthusiasm for our club. Some will renew come what may, its in our blood. I'm afraid I'm in the latter category.

What I would say is that at the end of last season I felt that despite staying up, we were at the lowest point for many years. I walked off Ewood in the last game and noticed Danny Graham waving good bye to the fans. Thats it I thought, he's never coming back here.

But guess what? Not only will he be back next season but the one after that and the one after that. And not only will he be here but he has a new partner (not that I know much about him).

We have a new manager, OK not everyone's first choice but someone who obviously is keen to show that he can do a decent job.

Now I know we have'nt kicked a ball yet but it tells me that things are happening to try and improve on what we had last season and providing we don't lose any more of our key players then hey, we may just have a decent team.

Any road, I've renewed (as has my son just back from uni) and looking forward to seeing how these new players gel in time for the Norwich match.

He's sign a two year deal.

My bad but hey, 2 years is fine by me. Need another striker for cover though

Definitely. I'd like to see Mahoney as fourth striker but we could do with a third striker with some pace.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just get two for you and the lad and go. Who gives a sod if people round you are stupid enough to not know half of what's gone on!

New slogan should be @#/? Venkys, love Rovers.

Not bothered by what anyone thinks. I wont however give them a penny more.

Nor should you care either, it's personal choice Abbey.

Even if you change your mind it's got nowt to do with anyone else.
