Were BRFCC.com invited to whatever the meeting was last night?

From the tweets it seems not, but maybe some attended as part of other groups

Bill Taylor was there seems to be the only one who has mentioned it , apart from Rovers trust before the event.

Left fans gps mtg @Rovers with some hope of respect & trust! No snow ball throwers or Venkys out banalities! Our opinions & ideas sought!

Positive & productive mtg #EwoodPark for #BlackburnRovers fans groups @onerovers @RoversTrust @BRFCActionGroup. Can we see trust & respect?

Rovers Trust@RoversTrust Jul 13

A couple of the Trust's committee members are off to Ewood tonight with other supporters groups to meet with the club about some kind of supporters forum ... stay tuned for more info.

Do you have any idea what was discussed Ste?

Was it 2-way, and did the Club appear to be in listening mode?

Sorry about all the questions btw! Maybe someone who attended may wish to comment.

I've heard a couple of things, but would rather its put out clearly by those who attended. Seems positive. and I'm glad Bill Taylor is involved as he was a very good chair for the last set of meetings.

Thing is, it's dead easy to promise the earth. Problem is delivering even 1 square metre of it. Cheston and whoever else is there can say what they like but we all know their opinions and ideas count for precisely nowt. All real decisions are taken elsewhere, not on the ground at Ewood. Bill Taylor maybe a decent guy. In fact I've no doubt he is because I knew his wife and kids, but he can be just as gullible as the next man if he's hearing what he wants to hear

Whatever the final ST figure (an I think around 7.5k) there'll be plenty of sub 10k gates next season when teams only bring a few hundred. Maybe Vs will ok the phantoms to save face and I wouldn't be surprised if those at the club tell India it's the fault of BREXIT why people won't commit.

That will look a bit odd when everyone else around here's crowds go up except Blackpool !

No - I know of a few groups who went.

Ste - Lynsey did invite brfcs but I suspect that she doesn't have the correct contact details. If you let me know who should be invited I will pass the details to her for the September meeting.

The meeting last night was designed as one to plan how to run the proper consultative meetings from September onwards, rather than to discuss issues. Two people from every fans group that the club could think of were invited and we mostly talked about how to make the meetings work and how to involve all types of supporters, including those that are currently disengaged. Quite a lot of groups attended although that were some that were invited and didn't come. It was called at quite short notice so it's possible some could not make it.

I think Cheston is probably doing all he can, and I sympathise with him that he's in an impossible job, just like Myers, Shaw, Hunt and Williams before him. He's no doubt a clever bloke, who even if he isn't a football man will surely know by now that this club is in serious trouble on and off the pitch. His boardroom colleagues have bolted for the exit door one after the other which is usually a very bad sign, and his bosses have followed that up by not replacing any of them. Instead it seems they are expecting Cheston to cover the workload of what was last season covered by at least 4 people. I can't believe for one second that one man can 'manage' or 'direct' a professional football club alone on a daily basis. I'm not aware of any other club in history that has operated like this.

Now the penny has probably dropped for Cheston now he's seen the season ticket sales figures. He knows he's got to try and do something to try and drum up some more sales, because once the season gets underway and 8000 crowds are turning up there will be more than one or two people asking questions of why our gates have dropped by an average of 6,000 inside a few months and are among the lowest in this clubs long and proud history. If Venkys don't sit up and take notice at such a pitiful level of sales then they never will.

Then there's presumably pitiful commercial/corporate sales. I wonder if they've sold any executive boxes for next season and how many people will be in the Premier Suite.

As the last man standing Cheston has to try something. He's working alongside Mr Positive Coyle who I admit appears to have excellent communication skills and could probably sell sand to the Arabs if he wanted.

These meetings that are being arranged I'm afraid are too little, too late. I respect the effort Coyle and Cheston are making, they are 'on the ground' and will see and hear for themselves the truth, but there's too much water gone under the bridge to start with the talking and media stunts. The problems lie in India, and unless Cheston has a way of making them instigate real, sustained change, and there's no evidence that will ever happen, then its all meaningless.

Sounds like I need to sign up to the BRDSG (the Disengaged Supporters Group)!!

My only concern is that we will fall out between ourselves, the new leader will refuse to stand down and we have a potential split in our ranks.

The prices for corporate have dropped.....the price of a box for games is now reasonable, pity about the quality of the football as the price and quality of corporate (and the staff) is excellent.

It still takes someone to turn around to the owners and say please come forwards and tell us your plans because this whole thing is falling to pieces here.

Who will do that ? No one I'd wager and if they did they'd get ignored then sacked. I wouldn't be surprised if the Indian bank is calling the shots and the V's have no say in it now until the finances are sorted.

Chaddy - yes I was. What was discussed was what I put in my post.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but is this not what the fans forum already do?

They pretty much have every supporters group already on the forum in some format?

Is this to replace the fans forum as there is only one group surely and thats blackburn rovers supporters?

All supporters have varied views which are not pigeon holed into supporter groups.

From outside looking in, it suggest the club are trying to limit the amount of meetings it has with different organisations?

Is it just me thats wound about about Taylors comments "Venkys out banalities" what does he expect after everything thats gone on? Makes me so angry this sort of dismissive and divisive drivel. 6yrs since they took over, on the brink of league 1 and £120m in debt, but you keep talking Bill and dividing the support in the process with stupid comments like the above :angry2:

No amount of discussion or debate, £500k parties for ex mayors to attend, or free trips to Pune for fans forum members have made the slightest bit of difference, and I also agree no amount of complaining has helped either! but another meeting and another group looking to help, how about some action for a change, now there's an idea.

Fully agree Gav. No need for that provocative comment at all. Don't know the mush but the last thing we need is further division.

This.

Are we THE only football club in the world whose owners will not engage with its supporter base?...the Rao's involvement with this club is beyond bizarre,it truly

makes no sense!

Absolutely SG.

It simply doesn't matter what the people at the club here in Blackburn would like to do, the owners have time and time again just ignored anyone and everyone with the clubs best interests at heart and they'll do the same again.

What are these meeting going to achieve? investment in the transfer fees? board structure? a manager with a proven track record? Promotion?

Are they heck, its just posturing for the sake of posturing, pointless, but I respect the fans involved even if the feelings probably not mutual eh Bob :glare:

I really don't think any new fan groups or existing organisations meeting with Cheston et al will achieve anything at all. The real villains in all this should be facing the fans to answer for what they have done. I would be surprised if the Pune pillocks are even aware of this latest move by Cheston and would almost certainly pay lip service to anything that might be suggested. And I agree with others who ask who the hell does this Taylor bloke believe he is representing? It isn't his political world where he has been democratically elected.

It does appear though that some kind of panic has set in.
