In theory, absolutely.

In practise? Not really. Look how many fans said they'd return when Kean was sacked and didn't.

I bought extra when Kean left and I'll be there shaking buckets at Ewood when the time comes. I just hope all those who "support their club" "through thick and thin" will join me and won't try to absolve themselves by saying "the club I knew is gone" once we are in admin and "it's a NewCo not Rovers".

What worries me from all those saying they won't walk away now is that these are the same people who say they wouldn't support a Phoenix club because it wouldn't be the same.

NEWSFLASH: it's not been the same club for 5.5 years, it just looks like it. Like a @#/? Madame Tussaud's effigy in blue and white halves.

If anything it proves that the club is feeling the effects of the drop in ST sales. Hopefully this will be putting pressure on Venkys to sorting out the mess, or into selling.

Fair play for them trying something different to get more people to renew, but not what I would expect from a club 'on course to match last seasons sales'.

This forum could be worth a read tomorrow evening.

Judging by the prevailing mood on here, if anyone gets a call from the players or manager they (not the poster) could be in for an earful.

Coyle will be fine doing it, but I think that some of the players may come unstuck if they receive any grief. They are sheltered people with little insight into how to interact with the general public, nor do they have any training in cold calling techniques.

It just goes to show how far Rovers have fallen despite the PR gloss put on by the club. Players and the manager ringing fans to try to get them to renew strikes me as a desperate last gasp ploy. Calling leading lights Danny Graham, Craig Conway, club captain Jason Lowe, and thrice failed manager Owen Coyle as "heroes" is a bit of a joke to those who have watched Rovers over the years.

Do you think the owners will even know or care about the number of ST's sold?

Sounds more like someone desperate to safeguard their position at the club

Quite possibly would have the opposite effect

Anybody which isn't buying one on principle and changes their mind after a phone call from a player or Coyle must be a really weak character. I hope I get a call.

I think the owners have got to a position in their main business that losses/debt at Ewood now does concern them.

Maybe Im grasping at straws, but there does appear to have been a tightening of the purse-strings in the past 12-18 months, away from the days of bringing in 10+ players every window. We've brought in a hell of a lot of money in transfer fees in that period, and spent more or less zero. That looks like a change of strategy to me, not good in terms of a competitive side, but hopefully the finances may draw them to the selling market.

As before, could be grasping at straws, on the other hand their new strategy is just a slower death for the club if they choose to stick around.
