Why should the players or manager receive abuse for trying to get Rovers fans back to Ewood Park has season ticket holders???

Because Venky's have mugged the fans off for 6 years and they players are making themselves an easy target most likely.

I am not sure that the non renewers will make much difference to the crowds that are actually there on the day (not the official crowd). Last season it seemed that a few thousand people who had bought season tickets where not turning up for games anyway. Perhaps these are some the ones who haven't renewed. We shall have to see when the season starts.

They shouldn't, the club should be applauded for trying something different to try and entice people back to Ewood and I sincerely hope its a success and people renew, however I think it is too little too late.

Beyond that the divisive appointment of Coyle upset a lot of people. Make no mistake, for some having an ex-Claret managing the club is unacceptable, and following that up by having him ring people to encourage them to renew, when for some he's one of the reasons why they are not renewing, is rubbing salt into the wounds and some people will not take kindly to it.

Nothing wrong with this idea at all but half an hour is a tad pointless. Can they not manage an afternoon? Bless their little cotton socks.

Like the idea apart from it being about 5 years too late. This was the type of approach required immediately when gates fell from 25k to 13k.

I have to say our marketing / commercial department has been very poor for years. I understand the difficulties posed operating under these owners, with relegation, dwindling crowds and a toxic atmosphere, but equally quality sales and marketing professionals could have achieved far better results regardless.

Trying times call for innovation. No criticism from me for this initiative but it is way too late to make much difference.

Also I get Graham, and Conway I like the pair of them, but Coyle and Lowe?

Lowe meh, the guy tries but I'd ask him what his secret is to get an automatic pick. Coyle, I'd love to chat to and ask a few questions: why did you lie about SEM, how does 1 million in today's football economy count as a substantial upgraded bid, what went wrong at Houston, Wigan and Bolton for starters.

Under a normal club then totally agree but this is Venky Rovers 2016 and sadly someone might reap what the owners have sown.

That being said the players shouldn't get any stick at all as it's all above their control but I'd be advising Coyle to stay out of It I think.

I didn't say that. The kid might just want to talk to the player about football. I never mentioned a sales pitch to a child. It's pretty obvious that would be reprehensible.

It shows that most people on here will try to twist anything that doesn't conform with their very pessimistic view on Rovers. Not a dig at you BTW, but if the cap fits.

its the way it came over bb3333 and have to agree bb about your response and his likelihood as to what would happen -

twist anything that doesn't conform would also think you also fall into this categorisation as many do on here

All falls down to the feelings that are out there that under the circumstances its a badly thought out idea

"" Hello it's Owen Coyle"

"Who, never heard of them , bye"

Class

As for Coyle anyway - for me its not issue that he was a farmer at our friends down the road, just what he said about the Rovers fans whilst there and as with others his link & denial to SEM.

Another niggle I have (this is a reflection on me and not intended to antagonise):

I fear that if I don't go, I'll find something else to do. If that happens and I've lost interest when the club needs me as a fan (in admin or when Venkys go), then it's another lost fan.

Once I've gone, I'm pretty sure I'd struggle to justify going back.

It's a pertinent point Mike. People stopping going because of Kean (missed the bigger picture by miles) and therefore were only ever going to miss a season or so (yes he looked unsackable but it was never going to last indefinitely).

However Venkys look like they are going to cling on for years and years whilst the club falls further into the mire whilst their apologistas recycle the excuses for them. So therefore a Venky's boycotter has to be prepared for many years away from the club (I'm at over 4 now) and as watching football is 101% a habit the longer you change your habit the harder it is to return.

I'm like Abbey were I am still adamant I will return when Venky's have gone BUT currently I have no inkling to return. I no longer miss it whereas I hated missing a single game (pesky weddings). It's like 1983-2012 never happened :(

So think twice

VENKYS OUT = Sales

But I still worry about how many come back and we need pretty dynamic Marketing and tiered offers:

-3 matches then Vouchers

-5 year Season-tickets

-"Rovers Return" offers

-Corporate 'give-aways'

-scarves and clackers

-deep 'communication' messages about the Rovers 'rescue'

-personal contacts

-free under 11s for 2 seasons

-opening up Brockhall

-Uncle Jack Club(sounds odd)

-Council link up on Ewood Way again

-free decorations for Pubs

-Players linked to areas of Lancashire(Fan Groups to support Rovers)

-more transport again

-Community Rep on Board

-Partnership approach with BRAG,BRTrust,EWOOD Blues etc etc

I am ready to lead on this....honest.

Please may it come quick.

I think its been glaringly obvious for a while now that any proposed takeover is waiting in the wings until the club goes bust, they don't really have much option i know, and with the price to buy the club being closer to £100m than £40m  I don't blame them one bit.

But on the back of what mhead posted above, if I had a spare £50m knocking around for a football club, I'd be actively looking to make things uncomfortable for the idiots in Pune.

I'd hire a PR firm to run alongside the current goings on at the club and brief the media about how I'd run the club if I was in charge. But this would only work if you got the local press/media onboard.

So say today I'd announce season ticket sales, fictional numbers of course and implications, how we need to improve numbers.

Then I'd discuss say transfer budgets and squad numbers impacting on finance.

How we intend to tidy up the stadium and create a new fanzone

Revamp blues bar

Offers on shirts, release dates

etc etc.

So basically just run a fictional campaign in the local press alongside the current Blackburn Rovers, maybe the club would use some of the ideas, but its all about showing how things could be if we had change at the top and new owners came in.

Some will say its a waste of time, it probably is, but it would be interesting to watch it play out and I for one would look forward to weekly press releases.

Hope that makes a bit of sense, to much time on my hands maybe

This guy got a phone call posted on twitter

Just had Owen Coyle on the phone. Fair play to him. What a bloke. Up the rovers

Asking if I'm renewing my season ticket, "of course Owen, I'll be in Friday". Also spoke of next season.

It'll be a fake set up by Brown Nose .

Friday is payday for a lot of people, being the last working day of the month, so the guy could have been coming down anyway.

Plus, no guarantees he'll show up.

I didn't get a call either.
