[Archived] Protest Ideas...

Recommended Posts

Good idea but I don't think we have any scheduled games in the near future on tv!

well its basically an idea.. doesnt have to be a tv game, but its time the boycotters or those who walked away actually came back and create a bang of note. If the Rovers Fans wont protest or stand up, then those who walked away need to purchase a ticket, and then lay down the gauntlet either by walking out, turning their backs, waving white flags, tearing up their ticket. anything, but blimey, something needs to be done. The boycotters might as well call themselves the 1000 Knights of Ewood or something interesting. Then release something on Twitter/facebook. The Knights of Ewood Rescue act

I wonder if BRAG or one of the other supporters group could take a page ad out in one of the major Indian daily's and list venkys issue's like a reverse of what City fans did with Mancini? with them being so remote any action really has to gain traction in india

I don't know if this would work but I'll suggest it anyway.

Form a Company (or use the Trust/Action Group).

Buy some Venky shares in said companies name.

Send a couple of fact laden savvy people, representing said company, to the share holders meeting and stir some shyte up.

As I said, I don't know if this is possible and it would cost a considerable amount of money. I haven't a clue how much could be raised through donations but a few of our more affluent posters have said they'd be prepared to go to India at their own cost.

this is what happened to a company i know of. People were not happy at the way they did things, what they imported, and the people they bought from. The then bought a few shares, and was then allowed to get into the shareholders meeting, and from there they caused mass chaos.

However, as per my idea above, i still believe those who have walked away on moral grounds or just walked away are the key here. They shouldnt just walk away and not do anything. Rather be creative and give it a chance to see what happens

How about checking the TV Schedule, Organise a group of at least 100 people and go to every venue with Venky's out banners etc. You won't be at Rovers games but it will make a statement (perhaps get caught on the cameras to be broadcast across the country, internationally etc) and may even get some sympathetic home/away supporters joining in.

Just an idea. Something has to be done!

It's time for English football authorities to wake up and take some action, grow some balls.

The FA, one of the largest and richest football associations.

The Premier League, the multi million/billion £ sports business in the world.

Plus the Football League, with all of it's history and tradition and the backbone of the English game.

They need reminding that one of the founding clubs of all three of these organisations is on it's knees after being raped and pillaged by god only knows who. All whilst on their watch and under their noses with their 'fit and proper' rules and regulations.

They need convincing to see that it is in their interest to protect their product/franchise. Combined they have the financial muscle and the authority to take on Venkys or whomever.

There are more and more cases involving ownership issues and English football clubs, with the supporter base becoming more and more active and united, this ultimately will taint their product as they become disillusioned and turn their backs. Not to mention all the many and various affected clubs' alleged corruption tales surfacing and the impact this will have on football brand and image.

Time for them to get their house in order.

Rovers would be a great test case for them all to take some direct action to free The Blackburn Rovers & Athletic Limited from it's legal owners.

Why Rovers? Cost would be nowhere near the same extent of a Chelsea/City/United/Liverpool or even a Newcastle or Leeds.

Radically overhaul their rules to create formal franchises which includes beefing up on what is permitted and not. Step in with an injunction to take control where owners have not been compliant.

Place a value on Rovers balance sheet, obtained in a fair, equitable and open manner from various specialists.

Offer for sale the franchise, to interested parties who fulfil their new set and rigid criteria, which includes supporter groups, trusts or whatever, which all clubs must have to include as part of their structure, say 20% of the shareholding?

The impact of this is to draw a line in the sand and create a legal precedent going forward for how English football clubs operate and behave.

Just an idea cobbled together in five minutes.

Heard someone mention today an idea for protesting (don't shoot the messenger) 5 minutes before kick off protesters head to the centre circle with flags/banners etc think it would get more attention than a protest outside the ground. If you tuned in to watch a game and there was a protest you'd think fair play for standing up then when the game started you'd forget all about it. However if your on the pitch you get the game called off this would get a hell of a lot more attention with it being live on Sky, think when Blackpool did it. It was all over social media. This is live on tv!

Not my idea just passing it on

Some interesting ideas Boz, and a great call for action. However, the FA are all on the take themselves, don't care so long as the gravy train is funding their jollies to meet the next Jack Warner and some............female companions in a flash Dubai hotel and they get a nice new blazer with a company car. Kentaro are/were major commercial partners with the FA and no doubt helped to oil the wheels of the world cup bid (e.g. the friendly against Brazil in Qatar in 2009).

  • 2 weeks later...

Wait, can we do something like this... Dont shoot me down or anything because im an overseas fan. I would have done this if i could.

Lets say we can arrange all or many of those who walked away or have boycotted, to meet up and purchase a ticket. Not a season ticket, for one of of the home games.

Now we know those who are happy will remain seated. But lets say we can manage to pull in a couple thousand or so boycotters/fans who have walked away into Ewood.

After about 10 or so minutes(time can be decided on) and the boycotters get up and walk out. Now this needs to be done for a televised game. Also those who are interested need to split up across Ewood. As you exit, chant Venkys out, rip up your ticket, wave a white flag etc.

As i said, dont shoot me down for this suggestion, but even though im far away, im still trying to find ways to get rid of the clowns. We might be labelled bad fans, but so what, its not like we havent been called that for the last 6 years.

I would be up for it...as part of an organised event. This is about raising the profile of what is going on here.

I will buy the whistle as well!

Where do we buy whistles from?

Whoops, just seen some on EBay. 40 whistles for £5.50 inc postage.

Get buying !!!!

As someone who blew a whistle regularly the cheap ones are far too shrill and don't emit the right sound. The best ones to buy are Fox 40 which are pea less and will be far more effective. They are however more expensive.

Don't disagree with any of that but its gone too long now and Venkys will argue that they have been ''allowed'' to spend £100 million .So if sanctions are put on them who will foot that bill??? The authorities will be sh1tting themselves in that scenario so its too much for them to take on.

That's why I think we have a problem with the Trust asking them to sell up. If you were Venkys you would just say ok give us our £100m and you can have it-clearly never going to happen yet they have done what was asked.

I really like the idea of Venky day. We the supporters invite them back to the ground, we can make a big fuss of it and make sure the media know we the fans have invited them back to Ewood. We know full well they won't turn up however for something like the Wolves match the cameras would flash on the empty seats showing they can't be arsed to turn up, at least this would push the TV conversation onto the owners world wide 'the fans invited them down to ewood today but as ever they failed to attend, it's 3 years since they have been here etc......' I made a very quick poster and I'm sure someone with more artistic skills could do something better. We could even write a formal invitation letter and release it to the press?

agree, invite them over for Venky Day.. Make a big thing about it, mention it to the LT to other media, that Blackburn Rovers fans are inviting Venkys to attend the match. They wont show, and we can then use that as ammunition to further humiliate them for not pitching up

The above is an absolutely cracking idea. Not difficult to arrange, loads of media attention and humiliation for them.

Yep im liking the idea of Venky Day.

Good Day Venkys

You are invited to join us for the game against Wolves.. We hope to see you there etc etc. Let all the media know, social media etc that the fans have sent Venkys an invite to attend the Wolves game. If they dont attend, then well they will just look more stupid than what they currently are

Last night the focus was on a group of people to run the protests, of course lots of 'ball on the line stuff' however I still think a lot of this can be done by having a central location for ideas, I think the lady last night put it well a single website (Venkyout.com ?). We can create a wiki somewhere, or a dropbox then a group of people (they can be anonymous) can decide which idea to go with and assign tasks to people or put tasks up that anyone can work on and submit back. This way we can use the skills in the community without relying on a single person to get everything done.

The website can be used to tell people what is happening and when, I'm such we can use social media to get this across too. We don't have to have a face of the protests.

An open letter/invitation similar to the above is a great idea in my opinion. There's been a lot of shoddy owners down the years but to my knowledge ours have been the only absent owners (at least Oyston, Cellino etc. show up from time to time). Playing on this angle would be a big hit with the media I would imagine.

The England game in Pune needs targeting ..like I said before Pune supergiants retweet #venkysout , like u said last night no idea if they don't understand it or agree

If Bumble is commentating on the game somebody buy him a bottle of IPA and I'm sure he'd mention it. Lets get onto his Twitter account.

Mind you, Jimmy Anderson would probably wear a "Venkys In" tee shirt.
