[Archived] Protest Ideas...

Recommended Posts

In a much wider context I agree, but posters on here, of which we have 15 regulars, irrelevant in my opinion and will only cause pages of arguments.

Don't agree. It's a representative thing.

Birdy represents the hardcore supporter. By his own admission he gave the Venkys more chance to succeed than most. Fair play to him, but even he has said: enough is enough.

Parsonblue represents a similar demographic. If he is prepared to walk on 75 then it will be a big statement.

I want to be proud to be a Rover at the Wolves game, I want the official attendance to be its highest post relegation but with fans only taking their seats on 18 and walking on 75.

Let's have as many empty seats as possible. Prior to this week I would have full expected Birdy and Parson to be the exceptions, staunchly in their seats for kick off and staying to clap the players off. If they are onside then the club will have to see that they are losing the fans.

Once we've all left, we should not be trudging up Bolton Road but be staying around the ground to clap the players as they leave Ewood. This isn't about them, some of them have only even been here 5 minutes, this is about the long-term, unclear future of our football club which is currently hanging on at the whim of absent, negligent owners.

We need this not to be the same 200 or so people who marched against Kean, it needs to be well supported.

You are right, Gav, we cannot influence everyone but I would hope that Parson and chaddy can influence their own friends and mates, that they too think: enough is enough.

No problem answering that Abbey. I'll be doing what I always do - supporting the players on the pitch from the first minute to the last.

Aargh. Exactly what I was afraid of. So that's a group of people we can't count on. I honestly hope that you and your mates are sat by yourself at kick off.

That's not to antagonise, I mean that sincerely.

So nothing sadly . Without starting an argument why would you not support a walk out to make a point ?

Is the long term future not more important than 15 mins?

Firstly, I believe that it is crucial to keep the club in the Championship this season if we are to attact the right buyer if Venky's ever leave. Hence why I will support the players on the pitch for 90 minutes. Secondly, I believe that any pressure that is put on Venky's will have to be done via the Indian media. Having said that, the various Charity work which has been reported that they do in Pune - in terms of feeding the poor and providing healthcare for those less fortunate - may well prove difficult to counter. I suspect the ordinary Indian citizen of that city has far more to worry about than a football club they are unlikely to have heard of on the other side of the world.

That's a shame Parson. You know the question wasn't about supporting the team.

Edit... Well you did add a bit more I guess, but not much.

Do you not think, just as a one off, that's it's worth a try just to miss a few minutes of the game?

Let's face reality. This club will not stay in the league this year. It is down, it is not the same club you or I have supported in the past.

People not actually backing the protests in any form you have to wonder if some of them are "scabs" or just plain crazy.

Parson though to his credit has always been staunch 100% Rovers but carrying on with this attitude is what saw us ignored five years ago. I can only reiterate the comment above about 200 protest fans against Kean. We need big numbers at the Wolves game so i am calling each and everyone of us to break any form of boycott and get behind the ideas proposed.

A good way of getting into the Indian media is via an anti-VENKYS (NOT players or manager) protest during a televised match at Ewood Park.

Charity begins at home which in our case is Ewood Park .................. and we are still their neglected Baby.

This is the sort of thing that should be in a private area, good effort by the way Glen.

Venkys have enough power and cash to put pressure on editors to stop this and that would be a shame.

To raise funds, it does need to be marketed.

India a very big place, with thousands of advert agencies, they would need to find who we are placing it with first.

I quite like the idea of showing a timeline of debt and reaching out to their investors, would you trust them with your money?

Im sure we can get something catchy and would need someone with professional marketing capabilities to do a striking advert.

I'm lead to believe its much cheaper to advertise in India than England so we may get this at a good price.

This isn't about the ordinary Indian citizen, this is about embarrassing Indian business people who are tarnishing the image of the Indian business community.

This comes across as flippant and argumentative but the point at the heart of it is sound: clapping the boys for 90 minutes is not having the desired effect - and hasn't for a lot of years.

Anyone not wishing to break their boycott ( I'm breaking my home boycott ) could cause chaos outside the ground. The hill is a great opportunity with it coming up to Guy Fawkes night 🚀🌠🚀⚡️💥🔥

Not saying Parson is guilty of this but I think there's a huge amount of denial amongst the "get behind the lads ffs" group when it comes to our past and future failures on the pitch.

I honestly think a lot of them believe fan protests and general supporter division are largely to blame for our plummeting football fortunes.

If that is the case then what can you possibly say to it. Shocking manager after shocking manager and our best players being continually flogged and replaced by freebie alternatives. But no, we're ACTUALLY doing badly because the fans aren't being supportive enough.

It's that illiterate poster rishtonrover or whatever he's called and his ilk that are the true remaining barrier to protest effectiveness. There's only one of him on here but unfortunately still thousands out there.

WHAT ideas have been proposed?

You will NOT have an empty Ewood Park - that does not mean that those in the ground don't agree with the protests / reason for protest..

Even considering calling people scabs - is plain wrong.

On Thursday there was a meeting to unite the fans - yet within days of that meeting !!!!!!!!!

Yes I see what you mean, it's a fine balance I guess.

I was speaking to a mate that's worked extensively in India and he pointed out that the vast majority of people that he'd spoken to have never heard of Blackburn Rovers or Venkys which I was surprised at. He visits regularly, both North and South.

When I question this assertion he said:

Can you name the biggest supplier of agricultural feeds in the UK?

Point taken.

So getting the message across maybe more difficult than we think.

You've got the 18 in 75 out movement of which flyers are to be circulated for. You've also got the whistles idea with plenty of attention now focussed on the publication of flyers with facts on for circulation to home and away fans prior to the run up of games before Wolves etc.

No one is suggesting an empty Ewood but it needs to be as close as possible at the start, Shouldn't be to unimaginable given most achieved this against Crewe where only 2,800 supporters were visible. A viable demonstration movement happening to promote what is happening at our club with an empty first 18 minutes and hopefully a bumper crowd until 75 minutes is surely fans uniting together for the best of both worlds as opposed to just boycotting or turning up etc, christ you have a number of boycotter's coming back for one game only.

We might not like to use the term "scabs" but unfortunately it is the correct word for some.

I think everyone is in agreement following Thursday concerning collective aims. If people want to ignore the protests and carry on like nothing has happened over the last few years than that is there prerogative, we won't though and we will fight for our club.

Fine, but thanks for asking.. Enjoying some excellent away days as well as enjoying good company at home games. Now we just need to see the improved performance against Fulham turned into points.

Crazy to even think a takeover is going to happen because your sat in the ground clapping away. Glad your enjoying the away days though.

Like i said before Parson, i don't think we will ever get you to change your mind!
