No chance of Caldwell leaving Wigan to come here.

I wouldn't touch Coyle with a bargepole.

As ever its interesting to throw names around and there are countless decent candidates who have the requisite experience and track record to manage a club as big as Blackburn Rovers.

Unfortunately it is more than likely going to be someone who has the right agent or who is already on the payroll.

Just putting a fresh name out to see what people think. Gary Caldwell. Personally I would move heaven and earth to get Karl Robinson in.

If we went in admin and were set to go down or something then I'd go for the likes of Robinson or Hill. As we are I'd leave well alone and get someone best equipped to keep the club in the Championship. It's as simple as that really, all managers are a gamble but going for ones who've proven to struggle in this division is plain risky to say the least.

And that dingle/sem/kentaro goon Coyle ? I wouldn't want him if we were in the conference, a complete tit, Christ knows how he got that lot up I don't know.

I would take Dunn as assistant manager IF he was alongside someone like Mackay or Mclaren, but I cannot imagine why any managers of their standing would be remotely interested in coming here ... Looking down the leagues ( and a player with Rovers connections) Craig Hignett has done a decent job keeping Hartlepool in the league , but we're back in the realms of inexperienced managers again 😩

The same Karl Robinson who took some 5 seasons to get the best resourced club promoted from Div 1 and is taking them back down ? I think the guy is full of bull---t.

With Rovers connections (not that I agree with that particular criteria) all these would be above Wilcox on my list:

Grayson

Hill

Coleman

Ainsworth

Newell

Irvine

Flitcroft/Jansen

I suppose I would probably have to add Sherwood to that list but I'm not at all convinced that he would be the right man, or that he has any affinity for the club, despite lifting the premiership trophy with us.

I wanted Grayson about two years ago when Bowyer began to struggle - we probably could have taken him off Preston then. Alas, the quality job he has done there has left them now in a stronger position than us within the football league. He's slowly but surely building his own side and I wouldn't be surprised if next season they were the surprise contenders for the play-offs.

Should have appointed me a director instead of Shaw IMO

The sort of man we should be all over. Fantastic Championship CV. Raring to go and with a big point to prove. Unfortunately he'd be similar to Lambert and probably wouldn't 5 minutes with these imbeciles.

That's the standard a club like this should be aiming for - a man who has the track record and knows the level. Not cheap coaches and League Two managers. But thanks to Venkys our expectations have dropped through the floor.

Don't like his face. Looks like he's swallowed sour milk or been chewing on a wasp. Its depressing enough at the moment as it is.

Again though someone like Davies would need a budget he'd do nowt with this shower. No strikers next season and even if in the unlikely event they'd signed Graham he only really fits a certain style of football.

Take away the loan lads and maybe Ben Marshall and there isn't even a goal in what's left. Terrible stuff.

I think Robinson would be a great coup but each to there own. Pearson Grayson sherwood are pipe dreams at this moment in time and have zero chance of getting these types of managers. I think we're going to be looking for managers below the championship if we don't promote within which I am pretty confident will happen. either way we're in for a long hard season and staying up will be nothing short of a miracle. No self respecting half decent manager will come and work under these conditions. The whole thing is set up for failure

You only ever happy when moaning.

Notice you never suggest any potential managers just moan and complain all of the time my choices or my post. Thats it!

We are not getting a manager Chaddy, might as well accept it.

As it stands we might not get a next season.

Have a sneaky feeling we'd go for Holloway or Mackay.

And, if the reports of Lambert walking out because he was promised only 6m are true, I don't get it. 6m plus cash generated through summer sales is more than decent at this level no?

Where are these reports of 6 mil from btw? Good source?

I would be happy with Holloway as manager tbh.

6 mil I think could bring in some quality players but we do need 10 new players at least. Just got to manage it.

I thought the rumoured £6m was the wages for the entire squad, we won't get too much quality for that.

As for a new manager, personally I couldn't give a toss, whilst these owners are still in situ we are totally knackered whoever comes in.

Just a thought though, how about Diego Maradona, the media would be all over that and after it ended in the inevitable farce,

the Venksters would be humiliated yet again, so much so they might decide to do a runner.

If the total income of the club without parachutes, owner cash or more sales was to be estimated for next season what would it be ? About 6 mill ? That's probably where that has come from, not saying it's wrong either but maybe the bank have shut up shop now as well so that's what we'd be working off.

No doubt anymore sales would go towards debt or back to Venkys. It's a possible scenario.

With the exceptions of brief spells of doing well under Hughes and Allardyce, the club has never really recovered from losing Graham Souness. If we can't have him back, then we need someone similar. A disciplinarian who will stand for absolutely none of the modern day millionaire-footballer princess attitudes. All of them so rich they could hardly care less what's going on on the field. We need someone to lay down the hammer and grind out results. Regardless of the travesty surrounding Venkys, for too many years now the footballers at this club have not felt the pressure to deliver, largely because we've only had sponge managers with no grit.

Well done for staying positive Chaddy, really. But you have to face that it is looking really bleak for all concerned with Rovers. When Boywer went I was hanging on every word, tweet, thread waiting to see who comes in now I could not care a less. It makes no difference they may as well employ the mascot as Abbey says.

They only way forward is Venkys leave us and go. I think they call it stockholme syndrome when you take a shine to your captures.

The situation is grim and a new manager should be the least of our concerns.

Brief spells of doing well under Hughes? We had 3 very good seasons with Hughes as opposed to 2 good (and 1 bad) seasons with Souness! If we kept Souness, we'd have probably gone down in 2005 the way things were going. We were fine under Hughes, and fine under Allardyce. What we haven't recovered from is the idiotic decision to sack Allardyce and replace him with Kean. Looking back to 2004 doesn't really make much sense, especially given the fact we've had 2 great managers since.

It amazes me that you still think there is some point! Who cares who the manager is? A poor one will see us relegated, a good one will see us relegated.

For the foreseeable future, its over.
