With contracts expiring, this is what the new manager has to work with when he comes....4-5-1

Steele

Lowe, Hanley, Duffy, Henley

Bennett, Evans, Leninhan, Akpan, Conway

Marshall

Subs: Raya, Ward, Guthrie, Mahoney, O'Sullivan, + youngster promoted...

Could it work to have David Dunn as manager? Massively loves the club and with two old heads in Irvine and Kelly giving him advice? They are on contract so?

Nar.

He's a Rovers legend for his playing time here but as a manager i really can't see it working. His love for the clubs means very little when it comes to his managerial ability.

I don't know the situation he walked into at Oldham but 20 games in charge with only 3 wins, 9 draws and 8 losses is nothing to write home about.

Massive step backwards if he is appointed manager.

After all the duds we've had I really can't believe you've said that ? Have you ever met David Dunn ? His intentions would be brilliant but it's a massive task.

A similar model was tried with Ince who had successful managerial experience abeit at a lower level. It will NOT work and the risks are huge.

If a new manager coming in prevents us from getting relegated next season, he would be an good one, if he takes us mid table, he would have done an excellent job, and anywhere close to the playoffs and he would have the term a "miracle worker" on his CV

Don't talk @#/? venky mole

Venkys' main requirements will be someone who knows his place, won't criticize them publicly and do what he's told with the resources he's given. That doesn't exclude every manager wth competence or pedigree in the world (few football managers, especially at this level, can afford to be picky when it comes to job offers or working environments), but it will exclude anyone who's not at his core a shill for our owners and work for them rather than the good of the club. It's a pathetic state of affairs.

Appointing David Dunn would be akin to a lamb walking into a lions den, he's thick as pigshit, he will never have the makings of a good manager let alone as a manager

I still think Shebby is pulling the strings at Ewood and he openly rates McKinlay, add to this the line that someone with a link to club is preferable and I think McKinlay was involved with SEM (?), it doesn't seem so daft. He's not exactly pulling up trees in Norway, though it's early days but his Watford record is 50%...from two games...but Madam doesn't need to know the finer print. I still believe it will be Dunn if Irvine doesn't take it. Not my choice at all but not sure I really care.

Doubt it will be McKinlay, he was never interested in the Rovers job originally no matter what anyone else might say.

I actually think punerover has accurately outlined what any manager should see as an achievement next season, under current circumstances. Not sure what there is to disagree with there, myself.

Exactly. I don't expect Marshall to still be here next season either. Aside from the fact that we are currently 18th or so this is the main reason why I think the Lambert regime "failed" and failed miserably at that. There appears to have been no thought whatsoever gone into the state of the playing side of the Club going forward. Anything can happen in football and its not completely impossible a new man could find 3 strikers and revamp the midfield into a unit capable of mounting a play off challenge but it would be an extremely tall order.

Well a new manager isn't likely to sign Graham and Watt and Rhodes is gone and Brown and Jackson out of contract.

Shearer player manager then.

Would like to see Gary Monk but doubt he would want to work with the chicken farmers.

Interesting shout, seemed to go really wrong at Swansea in the end but could be an interesting appointment

Tugay may be one to watch.

Definitely don't want to see Tugay join the circus. Absolute legend for Rovers and i don't want him to be tarnished with a Venky brush.

Nah, Simon Garner.

In true Mike Bassett style his first two signings will be the two lower league veterans Benson and Hedges.

Just thinking aloud, Malky Mackay has been helping out at the Club as part of his rehabilitation hasn't he? So he is already familiar with the Club and vice versa.

Not sure if the fact he has been here thus far is a good or bad thing though.

Brown and Jackson being out of contract isn't a big deal. If anything, it's a good thing. It frees up wages.

Personally I'd be looking at some players such as Roofe, Bradshaw or Grigg. All have shown themselves to be goalscorers and have a lot more about them than the current lot up front. Although I am quite an admirer of Watt.

Our midfield has left a lot to be desired for many years now. Conway isn't good enough and neither is Akpan. Lenihan has potential to be a good player but will he really push us on for promotion? Our current best midfielder is Evans and, well, that says it all. A passer and a tackler is needed - back to basics.

Then again even considering all this without a manager is pretty redundant. If we can't attract a reputable manager we will never attract promising players; we'll be reliant on scrap.

Did you ever go on the Oldham board at all ?

one of my best friends is an Oldham fan and he never had a good word to say about Dunn. At the end of the day they got us a real manager who if backed and given the chance then maybe just maybe we could have had a small chance. Now they have let him go there is no chance no matter who. Even now 24 hours later the tossers in India have not got the decency or respect for the town, club , fans or even Lambert to put a statement out .

THEY ARE DISGUSTING HUMAN BEINGS

Tugay may be one to watch.

NO!!! yes when these pondlife leave .

Dunn,Tugay,Irvine,Sherwood.

All ex players.

All lousy managers to date.

The only possible reason they are (reportedly) looking for a former player is to try & placate the supporters.

History tells us there is no sound football reason for such an appointment.

It further reinforces the evidence that they simply never learn.
