Amo Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 What's in it for them? That's the £100m (and counting) question.

Hasta Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Doesn't matter what it costs you and what trouble it gives you. You never disown your baby.
tomphil Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Do they even own us or is it The Bank Of India ? Or still a group of hidden 'investors' bleeding the club whilst debts in India stack up ? There may be a land grab going on over there soon
AllRoverAsia Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I think some British Officer took a s-hit on the family's front doorstep during the Raj...........and we're paying for it.
Amo Posted April 30, 2016 Author Posted April 30, 2016 After all the embarrassment and expense they've brought upon themselves with this ill-conceived venture, I don't understand why they haven't cut their losses by now. They have no active involvement in the running of the club, they only deign to grace us with their presence once in a blue moon, and by all accounts have stonewalled any attempt to negotiate an exit strategy. None of it adds up.
McClarky Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 It doesn't add up. The explanation is either very simple or very complicated. The simple answer is that they have made a total mess of it and can't think of a way of saving face. The alternative is some sort of corrupt, money laundering, asset stripping plan which leaves all the debts on the club and the money all being squirrelled out the back door. Who knows?
DannyKeg Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I would guess there are two main reasons they are still the owners, 1) they would loose a lot of "Face" in India if they pulled out now, more or less admitting their poor judgement, and acknowledging their own incompetence. A difficult thing to do in India, especially with the bank, investors and customers. 2) They may genuinely feel responsible for the mess and want to salvage something ?
Stuart Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I imagine it's probably as simple as there are no buyers at their price point. Which is why we need a campaign to get behind a consortium who could make an offer and force them to talk - or at least force people (non-Rovers fans) to ask questions about why they won't talk. Declare your hand, Seneca and the RoversTrust, and give the fans a credible alternative as well as, in an ideal world, a potential out for Venkys.
A cup of beans Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I'm wondering if the Raos run a laundry service. Plausible.
yoda Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I'm wondering if the Raos run a laundry service. Plausible. Or the associates!
gumboots Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Truth is probably that they don't know how to get rid of us so they just don't think about us at all except once a year at their business agm where it has to come up on the agenda so they mention us in passing and move on to more interesting things

Backroom DE. Posted April 30, 2016 Backroom Posted April 30, 2016 Either: 1) Pride, saving face, etc. 2) We're a drop in the ocean and they can't be bothered going through the hassle of selling us. 3) We're a drop in the ocean and they hope to eventually promote us on the cheap and either sell us as a Premier League team or reap the financial rewards of promotion. 4) Dodgy conspiracy theory stuff they want kept under lock and key. Can't really think of any other reasons. They could just be insane and/or incredibly stupid. Let's hope not.
allanncd Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 They dreamt that that promotion could be achieved without actually doing anything to make it happen. The £100m they've put in has simply funded the losses and prevented foreclosure by creditors. They are too clueless/cowardly to put the club into administration and have a dialogue with anyone who might want to take the club off their hands. As the club plummets downwards they just keep their slashing wrists and making the eventual outcome worse for everyone including themselves financially. It's completely stupid and brainless.

Dreams of 1995 Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 I'm wondering if the Raos run a laundry service. Plausible. I have been wondering this for many years. I am no accountant but even I can see that things just don't add up - there is no viable reason for them to continue pouring money into us.
perthblue02 Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 Could it possibly be that certain people have not been totally honest, for instance about relationship status with former FA business partners and the scum associated with them? and they are hoping to keep it buried so they can save face and people can not see what terrible business people they really are. Trust and honesty big things in India

Certainly where some members of their clan are concerned anyway, the ones with all the power. Still think there are some other pretty dodgy accounting reasons as well though.
