LDRover Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 He used to live in a big farmhouse in the middle of Turton Golf Club. How he has fallen...
Stuart Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 This will happen more and more with footballers. They have lavish lifestyles when they are playing but as soon as they stop they can't get the same money anywhere. There are only so many pundits and only so many guest opportunities. Some even turn to crime. Another legacy of the Sky era. It must be like spending all of the money from a lottery win except not being fit for anything afterwards because your education ended at 16, and you didn't train for anything else.
Norbert Rassragr Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Obafemi Martins was said to regularly get through his £70,000 wage before the week's end at Newcastle. Gambling was the alleged reason.
allanncd Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 He probably lost a packet in the dud financial scam that several Rovers players (including Craig Short) went into. Danny Murphy lost £2.5m apparently.
Norbert Rassragr Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Did Jerome Anderson send an e-mail pretending to be a former Nigerian oil minister?
Husky Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 I wonder if any of these guys play poker. I used to know an amateur poker player that 'made a living' from playing stupid rich people.
onlyonejackwalker Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 What a shame! Suggest a collection from his army of Rovers fans. I found 8p in my settee yesterday looking for my keys. It's his. Must be tricky being rich, then skint. What a plank. Perhaps he can bunk down at Colin Hendry's or share a bench with Samson. A fool and his money. ..
Jock Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Can we have ' spare change' campaign for him. Throw your pennies in to his front garden. Does he have a front garden?

Probably invested badly (perhaps his contacts at Rovers put him in touch with Gael Givet Financial Expertise Inc) after all likes of Neill can't see beyond their greed. Suppose it would have been too simple to stay financially secure instead of taking stupid risks in areas he obviously knew nothing about. You have to be an idiot to go bankrupt with the money he made during his average career. He can always pop up back at Brockhall though I'm stunned he didn't enroll his son at the "oh so prestigious" Academy of football. "Jobs for the boys". Dunn is probably already trying to find the key for him.
tomphil Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 They have plenty money but it's never good enough because they want more but no doubt in football it's an easy trap to fall into. Lavish lifestyle that you want to continue when the knees have gone so some goon comes along with a get rich quick scheme and they can't resist. Maybe Neil is getting divorced or something so he's now pleading poverty over here to minimise the hit. If it's gambling then what an idiot but then again when the chairman of the PFA is losing his nest egg to the bookies what chance do the rest have. The boxing industry has more brains that the football one these days !

MrT Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 While at Bolton Sam allardyce lent him and his agent mate Peter Harrison 300k for a project that never materialised. Big Sam later received over 600k compo after taking them both to court.

Now we know exactly why he was after it, must curse his luck he just missed the Anderson, Kean gravy train. I'm sure something would have been sorted had they still been about even though Neil resembled more of a Sunday leaguer by then.

Hopefully if his son proves to be any good he has more integrity than his "role model" does. Sure his son must be ecstatic too about his Dad's wonderful financial management. If it's not Utd it's Dunn ffs shut up and give it a chuffing rest .. Take a chill pill or whatever you do . Yeah I'll follow your example...what do you think about this for a new, understated viewpoint? VENKYS OUT! VENKYS OUT! VENKYS OUT! VENKYS OUT! VENKYS OUT! VENKYS OUT! VENKYS OUT!

LewisF Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 Great, couldn't have happened to a nicer lazy idle swine.he as co commentating on the FA Cup semi final between Everton and manure a few weeks back and I heard him say a passing comment about some players not busting a gut for the team..... Right because you always did that for Rovers didn't you danny?
