[Archived] Could Shane Duffy Be On The Move This Summer?

Hey All,

What do you think about Shane Duffy's form this season?

Well, I think he has been great with an average rating of 7.40 and 7.4 aerial duels won per game!

I'm wondering if other clubs might target him.

It looks like I'm not the only one that feels that way as I found an article featuring him and other Championship stars.

Take a look if you have a minute!

I have got everything crossed that he is on the move. He's a @#/? liability.

I would hope our key players all stay, for me Hanley and Duffy were our best players last season. If Duffy has a decent Euros though he will attract serious interest.

£5M? Hahahahahaha. What? £5M lira maybe. he's a decent player who you can guarantee wil always give a goal away. Personally I would rather he stayed but I'd be surprised if we could sell him for more than £1M. Then again the PL clubs are so awash with cash you never know. I would rate Hanley at around £5M though.

"According to the stats" how many times have we heard that eh mate. According to stats, Leicester had the worst possession ratio in the premier league for 70% of the season and the second most shots against, but they are champions. According to stats lee cattermole was the best midfielder in Europe last season (yes that is a stat). Stats have a lot to answer for, Duffy has been a real liability at times and some of his mistakes have cost us maybe 10 points last season.

Think he will be going Sunderland.

Hear Sam Allardyce is a big fan. Around 5 million

Snap their hands off, sign Gordon Greer on a free from Brighton, who's been surprisingly released and a couple of good full backs with that £5 million and the defence would be a heck of a lot stronger.

I'd look at Ben Turner I think his name is from Cardiff, on loan this season at Coventry. No idea when his contract expires

A player who does a lot of the basics right and does them well, but has at least one stupid mistake in him per game which is very costly at this level. Also horrifically poor at attacking headers. Around £1-1.5m would be about right for him, considering his age. Any more and we'd have done well.

He's had an ok season particularly the last 3rd and looked better under Lambert. Can't believe he's been classed as one of the best in the div although definite improvement on last season. A beast in the air but ropey on the deck, terrible passer and needs to work on his concentration seriously.

A work in progress for sure but he's finally added goals to his game after trying his best all season but not getting anywhere. They must've pinned him down on the training ground and filed his 50p heed down a bit.

Shaping up to be a very important player for us so should not be let go unless there is a big fee for the venky trouser pocket. Money and/or a good manager would comfortably replace him but we'll have neither.

verdict - Stay !

I'd definitely be looking to keep him.

He's got a mistake in him (see Burnley away, Preston + Hudds at home ) but he's shown he can be part of a solid Championship defence - our defensive record was decent last season.

Plus he's a beast in the air and, with currently no strikers on the books, he might be one of our biggest threats at the other end next season too......

The idea of getting a huge fee for Duffy is tempting.

Until you think that none of it will go on replacements and would just go towards servicing Venkys' debt.

Sorry pal. You're right. We are miles better off now.

Especially after losing those 8 players we've binned! 8.5 if you count Rhodes.

Only joking.

8.1

Apart from as seen with Rhodes not getting the money as others have said - that leaves us with 2 cbs. That means we would need to hunt another out on top of the search for a squad's worth of strikers, a lb, creative cm and whatever else the new guy seems necessary. Would make the summer job even bigger.

I sincerely hope you are right Chaddy. Ward is just as good if not better for me.
