Owen Coyle has been sacked at Houston Dynamo

By mutual consent according to this to be near his family in England

http://footyfresh.com/news/owen-coyle-resigns-as-houston-dynamo-boss which leads to the daily mail story

Some of the comments are embarrassing yet again

I don't look at them, haven't done for a long time. It's either Burnley fans on a wind-up, or ostriches.

Sean Dyche had management experience at a decent level Joyce hasn't

Joyce is a u21 coach in a cushy role surrounded by other top coaches.. If he takes the job he'll be thrown in the lions den so to speak but with no help whatsoever and will yearn to be back at Carrington

Mackay left to join Cardiff City in June 2011, and Dyche was promoted to manager.[7] Watford finished the 2011–12 Football League Championship in 11th place, but a change in club ownership led to his dismissal at the end of the season.[8] Dyche joined the England national under-21 football team as a temporary member of the backroom staff in September 2012,[9] but the following month became manager of Burnley

Joyce:

City's chairman however decided to replace Joyce as manager with the more experienced and well-known Brian Little. Many fans though felt that Joyce was a little hard done by because, considering the state the club was in at the time, he had done a fine job just keeping them in the league.[citation

Glad you got Your facts right.

I'm surprised Eric Kinder hasn't been asked to take over managerial duties along with his academy role.

Save 200k a year and fast track the kids in to sell for millions. Makes perfect sense in Venky's Gobsh1te World.

They were never wrong..

Managing at Championship level to bottom end league two level briefly.. Gives in my view a lot more experience

anyone else coming around with the idea of Joyce becoming manager?

only cos this is taking so fkin long and wanna be put out of misery.

There's no rush, the Queen of Pune has written to the FL telling them to delay the season start because she is busy watching the cricket

So you don't think an experienced get blood out of a stone type manager is what we really need if there is no money and no players ? Rather take the risk of another rookie youth coach and his youngsters to try and keep us in this division at a crucial time for the club ?

Ok then.

We ain't really up against them though we should be looking at teams who'll be at the other end in terms of competing for places :(

Firstly - you really think that Warnock would come to Rovers if there wasn't funds for one last promotion ?

With Joyce - how do you know that he isn't a "blood out of a stone" type manager ?

Joyce would be a huge gamble - but occasionally those gambles pay off. I would rather go that way, promote some youth, borrow a few United youngsters, and (by all accounts) play attractive football than put off the inevitable relegation for one more season - because if we employed Warnock with no money, that is all we would be doing.

At this time, with rumours of cost cutting, we are only going one way under these owners - based on their latest press release, our only chance would appear to be a miracle - so why not throw the dice in the hope we will pick up a Dyche rather than a Kean.

Day 28 of managerial search.

If Coyle was even in the running his mate Nixon would be all over it. He hasn't even mentioned him yet so we can safely say at this stage that isn't a risk, though I'd actually see more logic in appointing him than some of the names linked.

As ever the Telegraph fail to offer any quotes or direct sources for their 'news' that Joyce has been interviewed. When was he interviewed? The news of the 'approach' only came out on Monday this week, whilst Cheston said last Thursday that the shortlist had been decided upon and interviews were underway. Was Joyce on the shortlist but hadn't been interviewed? If so how could he really be on the shortlist with his CV?

The Telegraph are loving this. They'd be absolutely delighted if we appointed another laughable, under-qualified stooge to become manager rather than a real manager like Warnock. Wheelock's probably trembling in his boots at the prospect of having to deal with someone like Warnock or Davies rather than an ex-Claret like Joyce or 'nice local lad' like Ainsworth.

Warnock is of course possibly the most sensible option at this stage and has been since the moment he announced he wasn't staying at Rotherham. The 12 month situation could actually be a blessing in disguise. Its unlikely that whoever gets the job will last that long in any event. If its someone like Joyce then a large chunk of the support will be against him from the start, not to mention the virtually impossible conditions he would be expected to work under.

We're looking more like Blackpool with each passing day. No team, no manager, provocative owners, no board and no reputable managers in sight.

Reading some of the comments on the Telegraph website is embarrassing. No wonder Venkys appoint these joke managers when there are so many people offering public support and optimism at the suggestion. Quite how anyone could possibly be in any way enthused, optimistic or excited about a youth coach becoming manager in our situation is beyond me.

I am warming to the idea of Joyce. The reason being we are a Championship team With a bad bunch of players. In no means do our players deserve a top not manager. The most important part for me is that the manager has the ability to create team spirit and get the players to fight for him. It looks as if Warren Joyce has these attributes.

It might well end in tears, but a 12 month contract to an experienced manager who might not be able to make the players performing seems like a worse idea.

Anyone remember the "we can loan players" Desai quote? One of the main benefits of hiring Joyce when comparing him to other choices is this built in affiliation with man united!

It could obviously end in tears, and that's with any manager but I still have to say, from what I've read I think WJ is a better choice than Ainsworth, Hill, Redfearn, Dunny, etc.

If he's working with Irvine and Kelly, I would suggest that they may have had some input into this process!

Well, it might be. But I agree With the other poster that in football everything is a gamble and I rather take a gamble on Joyce than Warnock. As was shown earlier Sean Dyche didnt have much experience either and what about Eddie Howe?

Joyce is in a cushy job at a privileged club.

How that qualifies him to manage a Championship club in difficult circumstsnces, I'm not quite sure.

Agree that he lacks the experience in that division. But there's no way that his job is / was cushy at United. The standards set at clubs like that are far higher because of the financial implications of failure. I'd hazard a guess that Joyce has been under more pressure than GB and Lambert who had very little expectation or pressure to win.

Not saying Joyce is the answer but I'd prefer him to several others on our supposed list.

So looks like Warnock not coming, not that bothered, looked at his stats and not as good as I thought, good motivator and does well to avoid relegation, but at the end of the day he has said 1 more year, now,he's going to go for one last pay day,and living in Cornwall is a big disadvantage,he admitted he only worked Thursday-Saturday at Rotherham and probably demanded same at Rovers,we need a manager 7 days a week in our current state, one name who has the best championship record is Billy Davies, not the most likeable guy,but a hell of a record at this level,I think it will end up between him and Warren Joyce, well respected in the football world at lower level but still a gamble, but sometimes they work out,as did Aidkins,Mcdemott,Martinez,Rodgers, bit of a lottery picking a manager..
