No idea mate; was just quoting what Glen had said. You're right though - they would have had slim pickings off us in the last couple of years that's for sure.

On a seperate note at least somebody at the club is urging some action with regards to the managerial search: https://www.clubcall.com/blackburn-rovers/corry-evans-urges-blackburn-to-step-up-manager-search-1811466.html

That's Evans a goner then

We signed a lot of players under and before bowyer. Whether for fees or frees, wages, agent fees and signing on fees still need paying. We're gonna sign quite a few other this summer to fill the squad. Probably with crap no one else wants. The agents will get a piece of those signing on fees and maybe wages, bonuses, etc. Better to have some cash coming in than none, you just need a desperate club with suckers / patsies to sign those players unlikely to ever get a contract at clubs at the level we are in the near future. Just need to find that patsy now the gamble of Paul Lambert and co getting the club / agents back on the PL gravy train, when the parachute payments were running out, failed.

Yep in the absence of many big transfers they make their money in the lower leagues by keep moving players about for small %. Just look at how many have through the doors each way at Rovers in the last 5 years, infact it started as soon as Venkys took over almost.

Scam.

Living in Hull and being an ex Hull City ST holder (under duress from my Father) I am one of the few people who have witnessed Joyce's management. He was unbelievable for Hull City as a player and player manager, taking over from Mark Hateley with the club well adrift at the bottom of division 3. With Joyce at the helm they miraculously avoided relegation against all odds. This season is remembered as the 'great escape' in these parts and from this lowest ebb in the clubs history, they have barely looked back since. I was really excited to hear he was linked with the rovers job as he is a legend in these parts. He created an amazing camaraderie and combined it with tactical nous. He has managed a club in dire straits before and is not just a coach! He has always done well in his career as player, manager, and youth coach. He is hard working and honest. I think he is worth a punt!

Thank you Gamst for posting something positive for a change.

Reading the messageboard at the moment is almost painful with some posters trying to outdo each other with their level of vitriol and pessimism.

And some are happy being Rovers Fans who think venkys can do no wrong

Really? Who's that then? Tony? Cause someone said something positive about a potential manager? Is this what's this message boards come to?

The Hull fans think he was unlucky to get the push, but didn't you read Gamsts post and think he was talking about our very own Gary Bowyer?

I certainly did tony, and we all know what the majority of fans thought of Gary in the end.

What is there to be positive about?

Joyce managed Hull 16 years ago in division 4. I fail to see how that is relevant to Blackburn Rovers in the Championship in 2016.

In the same time frame Paul Jewell was keeping Bradford afloat in the Premier League, so would we be happy to see him turn up here based on something he achieved 16 years ago?

Other than a brief spell at Royal Antwerp, he's never had another first team management role and has instead spent the last six years coaching some of the best young players in the game. It's utterly incomparable to the task he would face here.

He could be a "gem", but the question remains, where has the interest from other clubs been for this supposed titan of U21 management?

A guy who performed miracles to keep a club (Macclesfield I think) in the basement division and also has a lower league promotion on his CV is available at the moment.

His name's Paul Ince. Just saying, if that's you know the criteria...

To be honest, I think that's the only way out of this nightmare.

The club is gonna have to literally hit rock bottom. It's just a case of hoping there's anything left to salvage.

Sacked by Christmas if he's appointed. It's just common logic.

My bet just before the Jan transfer window opens and then a search for a new one to take until just after the window shuts

Thats no reflection on him as such, more to do with the loons. I'm sure they will have friends around to sort out outgoings in that window

A little research would tell you that he was heavily linked with the Hull City job in 2010 after they were relegated from the premier league. He was a very popular choice with the fans and people were disappointed when he publicly ruled himself out of the race. Naturally, experience 16yrs ago is no assurance of success, but managers from overseas who have never worked or played in England are just as distant from the reality of championship football as Joyce is, but no one would be disappointed if Guardiola decided to snub Man City in favour of the Rovers! If the poster is referring to myself as a 'Rovers Fan' then they should read my old posts. I detest the Venkys and am not usually especially positive about any aspect of the club this past 6 or 7 years. My opinion is empirical having actually seen the man play and manage a team ably rather than choosing to wallow and moan by just dismissing the poor man completely.

Surely he was only linked with the Hull role because he'd been there before? It's the same nostalgia factor that makes some of our fans get excited by the likes of Shearer, Sherwood, Wilcox (okay, just Vinjay, but still), Dunn and others. Who's been interested in Joyce other than Hull?

I appreciate that he did a good job for Hull in the 4th division 16 years ago, but again, from my perspective that has absolutely no bearing on his suitability at all.

I've suspected all along that they have no intention of appointing anyone till July. in their mind, why would you pay a manager to go on holiday? No understanding of football leads to things like this happening. The stories of short lists etc are probably just spin to keep people off their backs.

No one in their right mind wants to work with these c*ck wombles

You can be sure that the unheard details of Lamberts departure will be doing the rounds on the League Managers Grapevine.

We are shopping in the, Truly Desparate department.

They must surely appoint somebody next week after all of the murmurings this week.

The longer this goes on the more chance that candidates are dropping out whilst waiting to hear back or not getting assurances.

You have to wonder how anything gets done or why any manager who wants to keep their reputation would want to work for them.

Kean

Berg

Appleton

Bowyer

Lambert

Why would anyone think that they are going to get anything other than another gamble? We got lucky with Lambert but he frightened them off with crazy talk of doing things properly, with actual money, and wanting to get moving on targets. The idiot.
