Last summer people would have offered to pay his taxi.

With good reason because he was pathetic at times and constantly out on the drink. Credit to him and whoever got a hold of him but I also wonder if the long known interest in him also played a big part in his knuckling down last season. Dann did the same when he knew a few Prem clubs were watching him every week.

“Grant is under contract at the club and I’ve got to say he’s an outstanding young man. He is a terrific player who I truly believe is getting better.

“When you make offers, fine, but for me, my offer would be on the level that I think the player’s ability is worth.

“You can only get what somebody is prepared to pay but that’s only if you’re trying to sell something. We’re not looking to sell anything.

“Even in a scenario where you would look to sell that player, which we don’t want to happen, it’s nowhere near.

“I saw the other day Newcastle want £35m for (Moussa) Sissoko, which is brilliant, because he’s an outstanding player, but please then don’t offer me £4.5m for Grant Hanley.

“If you’ve got your valuation of very good players, which they are, then make sure you are respecting Blackburn Rovers as a club.”

haha ,nice one FKW

If you decide to buy a football club who have the best record for a Town club in the WORLD, then make sure you are respecting Blackburn Rovers as a club!!!!!

We'll miss his pace at the back. He covered the dodgy fullbacks really well.

5.5M is a joke though, he'll be one of the best center backs in the division this season.

Be interesting to find out what the add ons (if any) are. After Coyles embarrassing statements and allegedly playing hard ball, £5.5mill is chicken feed in this market.

Always thought he was an accident waiting to happen, and nothing special.

Good business tbh.

 C'mon. What's the punchline?

Good business (to a Rovers fan) means that Rovers get something out of it. What do we get? Danny Graham's wages?

Lets not forget that Hanley has never once stated he wanted to leave, in public anyway, this is purely a Venky decision to cash in on another asset at the club.

Rhodes was the same until Boro came calling, but by then he was sick of being used as a pawn by the owners just to up the asking the price and went public.

So whilst Hanley was no world beater, he was the club captain and had been with us for years but that counted for nothing with Venkys, and we'll not be replacing him with anyone better thats for sure.

If I was a season ticket holder I'd be handing mine back, this is just another example of taking the fans for granted in the pursuit of selling anything worthy of a few quid regardless of the consequences.

Good job as captain he let us run up that table, inspire confidence, and rally the team.

NOT

Oh, loyalty, let's not go there.

Eh? Is that your justification for selling him? I suppose you'll be happy with whatever loan/freebie we bring in to replace him...

Didn't Rhodes come out in Public the summer before and say he wanted out of here???

Why do you spin everything the 3 idiots do as a positive for Rovers.

They are killing the Club by a thousand cuts. They are ignorant arrogant people who don't care about ruining a Football Club that so many hold dear to their heart.

Lets not get onto the Rhodes debate again. Rhodes never went public with anything but good things about Blackburn Rovers until the summer of 2015 when Middlesbrough wanted to sign him. By then he had been with the club for 3 underwhelming seasons with us never getting close to promotion.

It was quite obvious that as early as 2014 someone at Rovers was actively trying to sell him. Who or why I don't know, but he was half way to being sold to Hull in 2014 before Venkys intervened at the 11th hour and put a stop to it. Despite being messed about by the club and basically sold before the owners stepped in, Rhodes got back to work, didn't complain or kick up a fuss, and went on to score another 20+ that season.

By 2015 he had clearly had enough of being used by certain people behind the scenes and wanted out, and yet even then Rovers refused to sell him, so he got back to work and scored another 11 before eventually leaving in January.

At the time I thought his behaviour was wrong to go public in 2015, but I've reassessed and don't blame him one bit. God only knows what goes on behind closed doors at Rovers these days, I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting out of the madhouse, and Rhodes certainly 'did his bit' for the club whilst here.

I'm not just stating the Rhodes wanted out. that's all.

I would have took the 14 million pounds Hull offered for Rhodes in 2014 just for the record

Fecking deflection tatic from those that brown nose the Rao's.

We are talking about Rovers selling their captain and best defender and there's no way anything good can come from it.
