I think Blackpool brought in 50 players in 2015 alone, doesn't mean Oyston supported his manager, quite the opposite actually.

Bowyer did well here, had to sell his best players (Gestede, Ollson and Cairney) and mainly shopped in the bargain basement due to FFP, to claim he had 'tremendous backing' is quite simply bunkum

He inherited a better squad than he left. The squad he left was terribly short of quality and terribly unbalanced. He was backed in the signing of Gestede. We were heading down the league towards relegation at a rapid rate of knots mainly due to us conceding two goals every game.

And yes, he asked to sign a player on 34 occasions and was backed all the way Gav. He signed players simply because he could at times. He got lucky on the odd occasion, but many of those he signed simply weren't up to it. I don't know what else a championship manager could honestly ask for.

Always said that applied to Bowyer. He steadied the ship through some choppy waters but we were a rudderless mess by the time he was sacked. And he blotted his copybook towards the end with some veiled digs at the fans and obsequious comments about the owners. He was no longer 'one of us' and just another Venky stooge.
