Steve Moss Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Firstly, welcome back Steve. It's good to see you posting in the Football section. Second, what a load of bunkum. Spoken like someone who doesn't know the area, the history, or the current feeling, or the feeling towards what that agency - or is pretending not to. Appreciating that you are entitled to your opinion, I would have expected better of you over this. You have nothing to lose as an overseas fan so "get behind them", by proxy, doesn't quite cut it mate. And thank you for your opinion too. And I freely admit to the obvious- I am an overseas Rovers supporter. My last known genetic connection to Lancashire was 300+ years ago when my ancestor immigrated. I admit I don't get the hatred of Burnley, your next door neighbors. On the Owen Coyle issue, Venkys have done worse and may do worse if given further opportunity. Coyle's at least a manager. He's not a jumped up coach or a mere former player. He's had success. He might have success again. Let's hope it's with the Rovers as opposed to creating reasons to hate the man before a ball has even been kicked.

Stuart Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Not had chance to read thread, just got in from work https://www.theguardian.com/sport/david-conn-inside-sport-blog/2010/dec/21/blackburn-rovers-venkys-jerome-anderson This article is very clear about his links with SEM and that Anderson was his agent at Bolton To lie about it on day one really sets the mood "If City was a frustrated project for Anderson he will believe he can help improve Blackburn post-Allardyce as another of his clients, Owen Coyle, is transforming Bolton Wanderers. January beckons, and if Desai financially backs signing new players she has said Kean will make the football decisions Anderson will fancy his prospects of advising shrewdly. Football will be watching carefully, though, to see whether Blackburn's recruitment includes a roster of SEM clients."Sadly, football wasn't watching though; it was sniggering along with Nicholas and Merson, and keeping its head down to avoid being caught up in any of it.
chaddyrovers Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Hasn't Coyle already dealt with this issue. He isn't part of SEM. A football agent who is part of SEM, Alan Nixon, Owen Coyle's Son and I think Andrew Cryer have all said he isnt part of SEM Anymore. He uses a lawyer from Beswick Sports to sort out his contract. I think Alan Nixon and SEM football agent on twitter have said Coyle only met Anderson once about 8 years ago.
Ricky Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Playing catch up a bit but has anyone actually got a link to him saying he's not part of SEM and doesn't know who they are?

I don't mean to belittle your overseas fan status - you know I think it's great - and sadly another part of our recent past to have such people on board. However, your status does unfortunately mean a level of ignorance (in the strictest sense of the word). The fact that you don't 'get' the Bumley thing is sad after all this time. Their fans live and work with us and going to work or college or school is painful when they are on the up.Coyle, although he does have managerial experience, granted, is sadly another symptom of what is already wrong with the club. He has already denied facts that have been reported for some time in his first interview. Respected journalists are going to have to retract and print apologies because history now calls him a liar. This club needs to be purged. Venkys have proven themselves unfit to run this club properly and need to go. Any hope that they had been unsatisfied with Lambert and wanted better has been extinguished with this appointment. Our club's future now rests on Onan getting lucky a second time. And being a man of the cloth, I know you know why I keep calling him Onan...

booth Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Playing catch up a bit but has anyone actually got a link to him saying he's not part of SEM and doesn't know who they are? http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/14535515._It___s_an_outstanding_club____Owen_Coyle_on_becoming_Blackburn_Rovers__new_boss/ First and foremost, I don’t have an agent and I don’t know who that company (SEM) is. I mentioned my lawyer earlier, and that’s who looks after me, and that’s the same when I went to Houston (Dynamo) and various things. I think I‘m big enough and ugly enough to look after myself. Obviously I need my lawyer, because he looks after the legal stuff, but I could quash that 100 per cent. That’s a non-existent story.
Bucksrover Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Coyle Rovers interview A magnificent club https://t.co/cxsu16wn1p As it seems he is not a Kentaro / SEM client. I will give him a go. Wouldn't have been my choice but as he is not SEM/Kentaro, I will go and support rovers this season

But to literally hate the other side as some appear to do, it's a bridge too far.

Bucksrover Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 So ignore the lies Which ones? There have been a few. Miles Anderson was the next Dennis Irwin.
tomphil Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I get the concept of friendly rivalries. I have a few of my own. But to literally hate the other side as some appear to do, it's a bridge too far. This is England mate and some of these rivalries go back to when the game first began, some go deeper than football even. Plus in this country people have always loved to fight, not condoning it but it's just the way it's always been for some reason. Probably the equivalent of the American gang type stuff. I would think a lot of that is territorial plus rather pointless. There is a unicorn in my garden if you would like to come see it? If Alan Nixon confirmed it there'd be no need for him to see, it's gospel. Nobody tells lies or massages the truth in his world
deryck guyler's spoon Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Wasn't young Miles the next Chris Smalling and the Brazilian Bruno the next Irwin? Goodwillie was 'deffo' the next Rooney and the young kid Cotton who came through the ranks was the next Gerrard.
BlooBoy Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 There is a unicorn in my garden if you would like to come see it? So enlighten us on our new aquisition, Lets hear the truth ..
tomphil Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 We are far more likely to have to liquidate the club if they are allowed to continue. Whether we are able to recover will depend on how far we are allowed to fall. We've been selling to pay the bills for a while now it seems so not sure how much longer that can go on. PhilipL did say about two years which just happens to be Owens contract length...

G Somerset Rover Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 How can some brush this downright lie under the carpet? Great start, Owen you bloody pillock.

tomphil Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Wasn't Lamberts 2 and a half years? Hmmmm.... Strangely enough that seemed to be the case until he realised he was here to sell not buy
AggyBlue Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 That's going to be a pretty alien concept to most people on here. And football fans throughout the world
Dunnfc Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Wasn't young Miles the next Chris Smalling and the Brazilian Bruno the next Irwin? Goodwillie was 'deffo' the next Rooney and the young kid Cotton who came through the ranks was the next Gerrard. Don't forget Mauro "basitsuta" Formica
Backroom DE. Posted June 3, 2016 Backroom Posted June 3, 2016 How can some brush this downright lie under the carpet? Great start, Owen you bloody pillock. If the Kean era proved anything, it's that plenty of our fans have no problem being treated like mugs. It's unfortunate but a lot of the ones who wouldn't stand for it are long gone.
Blue Cabbage Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 How shocking must've Jordan Slew been then? He was the next nobody!!
