Coyle needs to be really careful with the way he talks. Talking positively about everything and anything will only get him so far once the season starts. There has to be more balance to what he is saying or we'll all just get sick to the back teeth of it like we did with Kean and his comical statements about new signings being the new Rooney, Batistuta, etc.

I think I saw him describe Feeney as an exciting signing....I mean really?

All in all I am generally pleased with the dealings. As others have said above, Tony Watt would be a good third striker to have as well.

TBH we need the manager to be positive during pre-season, for new signings etc.

Though I wouldn't describe Feeney as an exciting signing - he has looked better playing against us than during his ill-fated loan spell with us - and he does bring some much needed pace to the team - so I will wait and see on that one.

As you say - lets hope that when the season starts he puts some realism mixed in with the positivity.

Not sure why it would be fantasy stuff - he's available and Celtic are talking to him. We've already beaten them to one player recently, no reason we couldn't do it again. But once again it would be flying in the face of what Cheston outlined as our recruitment strategy.

Kolo Toure will go to a Galatasaray or someone like that. I highly doubt he would consider coming here. In fact I'd imagine a fair few Prem teams would take him.

Possibly, though a couple of LFC fans I know are saying not to touch him with a barge pole as his legs have well and truly gone now.

He's got 3 year deal with pne. Any truth in Rovers would only give 2 years?

with his fitness/injury record with us hes lucky to have been offered 2 years,

he had a decent first season, but since coming back from injury he's been poor(he was kept out of the team by Markus bleedin Olson!)

Wes Brown is a really good defender and would be useful in the championship but only IF he can keep himself fit. As for Hanley and Duffy, can remember that last season lampan everyone wanted Duffy out and the season before Hanley was the one we wanted out... Maybe its time for Hanley for a new challenge and for us to get a new hungry defender playing with Duffy? And give Duffy a new contract or sell him.

Spurr to Preston, surely he wanted to be nr 1 left back.. Good riddancr

That icelandic midfelder Johan Gudmundsson plays for Charlton. Surely there will be interest in him after European Championship. Bjarnason reminds me of Robbie Savage.

Spurr is no great loss. Bang average.

Kolo Toure has been awful lately...

Think the Watt ❤️ Rovers still could happen. Maybe a loan deal or IF Charlton pay him off.

Have you heard something regarding Watt neophox?

Why would they pay him off? He's got value!

I actually think they've got it right for once with Spurr after offering reduced terms because he'd only likely be back up. Been a good servant Tommy and goes with best wishes but signs where there of him struggling last season.

Not getting any younger and Knobbers making me laugh getting in a lather because they think they've gazumped us by offering 3 yrs

He was good back up to have about but not worth tying to that sort of deal. Hopefully we'll find another LB and not a multi position utility man......

I read that earlier today on newsnow. The usual Coyle babble. One thing he's brilliant at is talking. Whatever it is he says appears to rub off onto anyone who listens to him - chairmen, players, media, fans.

I thought there were some interesting quotes in there.

'On his staff he has the vast experience of Alan Irvine and Rob Kelly, and despite no sign of his arrival just yet, it would be a surprise if long term sidekick Sandy Stewart wasn't next to him in the dugout by the start of the season' - I'm still convinced Coyle will have him in here soon and it seems they think so too.

Coyle said:

'WE have to understand this is a club with tremendous history'

'Its up to US to come in and make the best of it'

'WE have shown we can wheel and deal and get good players in with the finance we have. I have started already'

'WE'LL do our best in our circumstances'

'People know how hard WE work and what WE do and now WE have to replicate the success WE'VE had elsewhere. WE'LL leave no stone unturned'

'WE come in with a real work ethic and WE'VE shown WE can be successful'

----------

That all sounds very good but who is the 'WE' Coyle repeatedly refers to here? Certainly isnt Irvine or Kelly given they've never worked with him before.

Stewart will be in the house soon. Question is who goes to make way for him.

And there was me thinking the WE part was him, Nixon and his agent mates

Just watch Watt Twitter account and you realize he wants to come here !😎

I'd have him back.

3 year deal for Spurr - wow! He had lost a good few yards of pace so I for one don't blame Rovers for not matching that. Nice chap though and good luck to him.
