Aaron Mooy is a player I've touted in the past. Young skillful, energetic player who has started playing for the Socceroos. Man City have just purchased him. Whilst it's unlikely he will play for them next season it would be fantastic if we could get him in on loan. Not likely but I rate this kid highly and would be suited to the championship

Has he gone to Manchester or Melbourne City?

He is a good footballer, neat and tidy, composed, can pick a pass, get a tackle in and score his fair share. That said, the 'A' League is a world away from the Championship never mind the top 6 of the Premier League. I was surprised to read that he had been at Bolton's academy and he holds Dutch citizenship so a move to England shouldn't faze him too much but I reckon he's a long way from Premier League standard and might even be a bit of a gamble in the Championship.

* Of course, he's already at Melbourne so has made the move to the parent club. Bruce Kammau has just joined Melbourne City from my local 'A' League club. He's one to watch still very young, tricky, tenacious, great attitude and work ethic.

I understand your concerns regarding the jump in quality but even at international level he has look extremely competent to say the least. He is on at least par with Tommy Rogic (another one i mentioned would be a good pick up for Rovers) who is doing some really good things at Celtic.

Him playing alongside Byrne would be an excellent Midfield.

Who's claiming Byrne has any quality if City are off loading ?

Why should any self respecting Rovers fan be taken for a ride in having to pay to watch somebody else's dross making up the numbers ?

I've never seen Byrne play so I can't comment on his ability or otherwise, but many young players who have been loaned to "lesser" clubs have developed into absolute stars. David Beckham is an obvious one but there must be dozens.

If we have no money to spend, and it appears we don't, then it's the only way for us to get a bit of quality in a key position.

If it turns out that Coyle's judgement is poor and Byrne is no good, it still doesn't detract from the basic principle.

Up to Byrne to prove his worth.

We need a first choice left back as the lad Hendrie has played about 6 games in league 1 so he's hardly a shoe in. To think last season it was one of our strongest positions and now we only have a rookie so far.

We also went into last season with the exact same problems at right back.

How to not build a team ......

There is a solution to both problems at RB and at LB. Lowe or Marshall at RB, Akpan at LB lol :D

Really he should be back up to someone else more experienced. I'll say it again amongst all the hoo haa about him because he's come from West Ham..... SIX games in league 1. It's a big step up for him to go from that to instant Championship starter, hopefully he can cope.

Daily Mail says Duffy to Celtic for 2M.

"rumoured" of course!

I expect the sale of Duffy will be a priority for the club. His stock has never and probably will never be higher after his two good games for Ireland in the Euros. He's only got 1 year left on his deal and like Marshall he probably won't be signing a new one.

£2 million and he'll be off. That money will more than cover the expenditure for Coyle's signings. Then the club can play the victims and pretend they did everything in their power to keep him whilst trousering the money and replacing him with a free transfer or loan.

I think they operate on a 3 strikes system these days in the absence of anyone to sell for huge money. First out the door pays for recent signings and changes. Last season see TC

Next out goes towards servicing the debt. See Rudy.

Third out goes into the trouser pocket of the various hidden fingers in the 'investment fund'. See Rhodes.

3 outgoings in similar fashion over the next 6 months wouldn't surprise.

According to Nicko we are looking at loans at the minute for the left back and striker spots

supposedly the left back is a foriegn loan

Clubs broke, no money, half a team, no crowd, we've been screwed big time !

Turn up and watch somebody else's dross just hope lots boycott these bast Ards.

Why don't we just call it a day? If we're looking at loans for those positions too we will own only a very few of our starting team. It really is not Blackburn Rovers any more

might as well call us Blackburn Loanvers

Building the team around loans is like building a new stadium on quicksand.

I've no problem with 2-3 quality loans complementing the squad, providing there is a quality core of players contracted to the club to build around.

We don't have that. Whatever opinions are on our business to date, we've already signed 2 loans with no experience of this level or above and now we seem to be after more. Meanwhile we've still only got about 15 contracted outfield players at the club.

So we're probably going to be facing a similar scenario again in 12 months once these lads go back to their parent clubs.

We're essentially paying Man City to develop one of their kids for them. Then in 12 months if he's done well they can flog him to someone willing to pay the money and we'll be left with nothing to show for it.

It's not a model that will reap success.

Worked for Watford.

Their loans were already owned by their parent group who repeatedly moved players between Watford, Granada and Udinese. They had a plan from the word go to beat the system by moving people in and out repeatedly. The players brought in on loan were already 'owned' by the club, albeit indirectly. If a player performed exceptionally well for Watford the increase in his value would benefit the owners and therefore all 3 clubs.

We've no such arrangement. We're just hoping to pick people up on the cheap for the season because there is no long or even medium term plan. We'll be back in the same boat next summer - 5 loans returning to their clubs, Duffy, Marshall, Akpan and Guthrie out of contract, back down to no squad again. All they are trying to do is fill the squad up for this coming season because until recently we had no players left and they have been forced into recruiting quickly.
