Do Celtic even have money?

Not in proper Champions League yet. 2 qualify rounds 1st

You ignored everything I said.

I don't know. Enough to sign Dembele (free but compensation due). Closer to the Champions League than we are... And won't they get UEFA Cup football if knocked out?

Honest answer is I dont know.

On Dembele signed there but bet in 2 seasons time Celtic will sell him and make loads of profit.

Wonder why is it because he's a poor player.

How many goals did he score last season ?

So sick and tired of seeing every post if yours being about players for us being not good enough. Please why don't you provide a list of players we could realistically get that you feel ARE good enough.

Well that's a right little foot stamp Pedro, log off for a while, it's not compulsory to post if it's getting to you that much.

A fellow poster just PM'd a list of your quotes that very much contradict all those accretions, maybe for a bit of fun he'll post them later, who knows.

Good player that Scott Dann, but like I said last night, this is about Duffy and I didn't know he only had 1yr left, need to get him signed back up asap because £2m is a steal.

Tell your little henchman to post away. Not a foot stamp and certainly don't tell me what to do, it's bad enough you being the self-proclaimed judge and jury/quality control of brfcc.

Dembele is a great signing for them but the level of compensation they had to pay will be a fraction of what a club in England would have had to pay as he moved countries will it not?

Accrington had a similar situation with two out of contract players who signed pre contract deals with Rangers. The rules differ because it is two separate countries. Accrington have now agreed a deal with Rangers by the way.

Pedro's post has a lot of problems in my view. Half or more of the points he made about being in the minority were not in the minority. And it reads more like 'look at me, even when you all disagreed with me I was right'.

I'm far from attention seeking mate. Just read way too much negativity and people thinking their view is the correct view. Sick of reading that supporters need to do more, supporters aren't doing enough, if you go to Rovers, you are part of the disease etc. I've given up on Rovers, I've had my fill of Venkys, nonsense but also miserable negative, repetitive gimps.

Was Brendan Rogers in the hot seat then? Genuine question, I can't remember.

Just a hunch but I think that a combination of Rogers, Champions League, the return of the Old Firm Derby and the unique pull Celtic has for Irish players would make it difficult for Rovers to keep Duffy if Rogers makes a move.

Yes, he was

Oh come on Chaddy. If Celtic had wanted him, they'd have got him. They clearly opted to look elsewhere. You've tried to paint a picture that we are a more attractive proposition than Celtic and it is complete and utter folly. He wouldn't be a first-teamer there anyway. Celtic have just beaten off a number of clubs to sign Dembele from Fulham. Why didn't he come to Rovers?

Agree, dgs. If Celtic came in for Duffy with an attractive bid then I'm sure he'd be off.

They did want him, he chose Rovers. I realise that doesn't fit with what most people think, and the player himself gave the reasons in his 'welcome' interview, but that is a fact. Your point about Dembele is a slightly strange one but I do agree with you on Duffy - his background would make it very difficult for him to turn down Celtic if they make a bid that the club accepts.

What are you even referring to?

He's not referring to anything. Just another of his random #venkysout hag venkylovers etc etc posts that contributes so much to the site. Although at least it wasn't in capitals this time.

I'm really happy with the transfers so far. Still feel that we need a few more and need to keep our better players though. Not convinced Coyle is the man to take us forward but it is a good start. I really hope he proves me wrong.

No idea why you're having a pop at me Pedro? seems a bit random?

You seem to be wound tighter than the average cuckoo clock?

Leave me out of it :tu:

No transfer news today then?

Ive seen nothing in the national media today at all.

Nixon on twitter has said that we have 2 loans line up one a left back and 1 a striker both from PL clubs.

will be done by end of the month as these players are required by their current team at the minute but will be released.

we still need a 4th striker, 4th centre back aswell

So there was a contract offer from Celtic on the table? Unless he was being offered less football on lesser terms up there, then I don't believe it.

How is it a strange comment? Dembele is highly rated and Chaddy has stated why Rovers is a more attractive proposition than Celtic. I was simply highlighting their pull can't be that bad if they are beating off Prem teams to signings.

I meant Dembele didn't have the choice between Rovers and Celtic in the way that Graham apparently did, nor had he been on loan at Rovers last season, so the comparison between the two wasn't there. I don't know whether Celtic went as far as offering DG a contract but they spoke to him and his agent so presumably did want him. FWIW I agree with you that if I were a footballer and it was simply a footballing choice between Rovers and Celtic I would choose Celtic at the moment. Graham said he was swayed towards us because of the Rovers fans loving him. He's obviously had a bad experience at a 'bigger' club as well.

My point is, Celtic are attracting players of a higher calibre than the market we are in. Dembele, for example. Wanting Graham as a back-up striker and wanting him to lead the line are two different thing though. He needs minutes at this stage of his career and I'm certain signing for us made much more sense than benching at Celtic. I was simply disagreeing with Chaddy's assertions that Celtic aren't an attractive proposition for a player.

No argument on that one, espoecially now they have their bed mates back in the same league.

Rodgers is certainly a coup for them also. Can see him giving Celtic a bit more pulling power than they've had in recent years.
