The Rover of Finland Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Joe Gomez is hardly the first or even second choice for left back at Liverpool. Is it Sam Gallagher time this season? Just guessing here.

oldjamfan1 Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Rodgers is certainly a coup for them also. Can see him giving Celtic a bit more pulling power than they've had in recent years. Definitely. They had more fans turn up for his announcement than we get for a league game.........
beanie Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 My point is, Celtic are attracting players of a higher calibre than the market we are in. Dembele, for example. Wanting Graham as a back-up striker and wanting him to lead the line are two different thing though. He needs minutes at this stage of his career and I'm certain signing for us made much more sense than benching at Celtic. I was simply disagreeing with Chaddy's assertions that Celtic aren't an attractive proposition for a player. Not saying Celtic are not more attractive but if I were a footballer I'd not fancy playing the likes of Ross county 4 possibly more times a year the quality of the SPL Celtic apart is very very poor.

Ross County are actually one of the better teams. I'm fascinated to see how Stokes does in the championship with us - for me that will be a wee barometer for how good or bad the Scottish Prem is. The four old firm games alone would more than make up for the other 20 odd average ones.
JAL Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Ive seen nothing in the national media today at all. Nixon on twitter has said that we have 2 loans line up one a left back and 1 a striker both from PL clubs. will be done by end of the month as these players are required by their current team at the minute but will be released. we still need a 4th striker, 4th centre back aswell If Rovers promote Scot Wharton centre half when they've already got Grant, Duffy and Elliot why do you need another centre half ?
chaddyrovers Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 If Rovers promote Scot Wharton centre half when they've already got Grant, Duffy and Elliot why do you need another centre half ? Surely thats a question for Coyle not me??? Also Wes Brown is training with us aswell
JAL Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Surely thats a question for Coyle not me??? Also Wes Brown is training with us aswell The question relates to you saying you think Rovers need 4 centre halfs. We Brown can go and do one for me useless Manc not required here !
chaddyrovers Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 The question relates to you saying you think Rovers need 4 centre halfs. We Brown can go and do one for me useless Manc not required here ! Didnt realise that your armchair was at Brockhall watching Wes Brown? You write off so many players, surprise any are left tbh now
JAL Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Didnt realise that your armchair was at Brockhall watching Wes Brown? You write off so many players, surprise any are left tbh now Talent stands out a mile chaddy !You and Mani seem to enjoy peddling shyte on here for us suffering Rovers supporters. As for Brockhall I've been known to pop in and out of the place but not this summer.
Backroom Mike E Posted July 3, 2016 Backroom Posted July 3, 2016 If Rovers promote Scot Wharton centre half when they've already got Grant, Duffy and Elliot why do you need another centre half ? The lad's terrified you'll write him off, probably.
ABBEY Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 He's not referring to anything. Just another of his random #venkysout hag venkylovers etc etc posts that contributes so much to the site. Although at least it wasn't in capitals this time. I'm really happy with the transfers so far. Still feel that we need a few more and need to keep our better players though. Not convinced Coyle is the man to take us forward but it is a good start. I really hope he proves me wrong. Jog on good lad Didnt realise that your armchair was at Brockhall watching Wes Brown? SUPERFAN RIDES AGAIN You write off so many players, surprise any are left tbh now
JAL Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 The lad's terrified you'll write him off, probably. Posted a line a few days ago about how impressed I, was with Scott, but then he went and had two poor games against Chelsea youths in the semi finals.
Mani Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Posted a line a few days ago about how impressed I, was with Scott, but then he went and had two poor games against Chelsea youths in the semi finals. You're not as clueless as your mate. But that isn't saying much tbqfhwy

JAL Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Haha....you do a bit of cleaning As for Scott was impressed by his younger brother playing for the youngsters a couple of months ago.
Stuart Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Great to see Chaddy getting in with the banter. Hope he (and the mods) remember that when he gets some back.
G Somerset Rover Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Why are we in the loan/freebie only market when the V's never fail to back their manager? Strange.

Ribble Rover Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Didnt realise that your armchair was at Brockhall watching Wes Brown We've seen his demise over the last couple of years on the box, what more do you need to know? He's another has-been looking for some coin
Parsonblue Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 We've seen his demise over the last couple of years on the box, what more do you need to know? He's another has-been looking for some coin Agreed. The last thing we need at the moment is another centre-back unless Hanley or Duffy leave. With those two, Ward and Lenihan, not to mention two excellent centre-backs in the Under-21's, in Wharton and Platt, we are more than covered. We simply haven't got the money to pay for a fourth senior centre-back sitting around doing nothing. Left-back, midfield and another striker are surely the priorities.
Mike Graham Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 You are right PB. The only caveat is the one you mentioned which is whether Hanley or Duffy leave; I guess the chances of either, or both, leaving are still high. Left back would be no1 on my shopping list.
davulsukur Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Didn't know where else to post it but we have taken the following youth players on our Austria Pre-Season training camp: Conner Mahoney (Winger), Lewis Mansell (Striker), Ryan Nyambe (Full Back), Jack Doyle (Fullback), Scott Wharton (Defender), Lewis Hardcastle (Midfielder) and Andy Fisher (Keeper). Presumably, to run the rule over them and see if any of them can make the step up this season
The Rover of Finland Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Hanley and Duffy are the few players with some value. If Brown is still seen good enough to replace will another be sold. Interesting to see Lowe's situation. Byrne should be a starter and there is certainly competition for another place in the middle. Evans, Akpan and Lenihan are all decent. Guthrie hardly finds his career anymore rising. Unless Marshall goes Lowe isn't the first choice for right back either. Although Marshall could be on left wing also as the magical Feeney is likely the right winger. Henley is nothing but cover but maybe young Nyambe can challeng the place during the long season. There must be a fool who still see Lowe as a potential talent. Maybe Coyle decides to take few pounds and Lowe is gone? So look for him to start against Norwich and Coyle paying tribute for superb performance including zero passes forward.
