I think Hanley is looking to play in the PL via a Championship winners medal.

I also think Duffy will go to Celtic.

Both will be spun out for as long as possible to avoid being forced to buy replacements.

Asset stripping is GO.

If Duffy only has 12 months and isn't looking like signing a renewal, then sell him as thats practical, wouldn't let Hanley go to a club in the same league, and I don't think it's a good move for him, he should be looking at the PL at his age.

If there's no chance of Duffy signing a new deal he has to go this window because regardless of his performances we won't get as much for him in January! I think with Hanley though, he won't mind playing one more season in the championship infront of 50k fans in order to get up to the prem. Newcastle are dead Certs for promotion, I wouldn't say it's a bad move. And in terms of selling him to a team in the same league as us I don't think we will be taking much interest in Newcastles results this season, if Hanley can score for them against Rotherham to confirm our survival it will be a good deal all round 😂😂

Re Celtic, I didn't realise the size of the club until we played them in the UEFA cup.

They had over 80,000 enquiries for tickets at Ewood.

In my opinion they need to try and get some better competition going - maybe trying to exploit the massive football fanbases there should be in Ireland - like inviting Dublin, Cork and Belfast clubs into a Scotland & Ireland Superleague. To begin with it would be a Celtic/ Rangers domination, but over time it may change - at least clubs from those Irish cities have the potential to have gates that could make them competitive, as opposed to the likes of (and no offence) Ross County.

Akpants is a poor player. Shirks a tackle and doesn't do much better on the ball. He's not terrible, but he's not good. Reading released him and Guthrie for good reason.

Taylor played 75 games for us and was a good player on a free. I'd have kept him for depth this summer.

Doneil Henry first spell had some good games, Charlton the exception.

Akpan - The same one who started for Lambert and Coyle. Lacks mobility but in a 4-5-1 a goodish player.

Mahoney - Early signs he will be a hit, i like the look of him.

Tunnicliffe - It could be doubted but i thought towards the end of his loan spell he really started to impress.

Steele - 100k, okay he is inconsistent but still young, ex england youth/u21 keeper and i think reflex wise he is very sharp.

No doubting some of them bit I'd question the HIT description of half that list. They are/were average and did what it said on the tin just as they'd been doing previously in their careers.. He wasn't really gambling he knew what he was getting so not right to dress it up as hits maybe just adequate.

Spurr a hit? One decent season does not make a hit. Perhaps not a miss but only an optimist would say a git. Compare Spurr to genuine hits like Duffy or Gestede and Spurr falls way short of this standard.

Likewise Taylor and Apkan both who I like are probably more 50/50 when compared to what genuine hits look like. They haven't disgraced themselves but not excelled or performed above expected so unsure how classed as hits.

Evans has spent most of his time injured or as the invisible man. Some half decent performances last season don't erase that fact. And again like the others he hasn't excelled or exceeded expectations even when he has played ok.

And Steele? The keeper who can't kick or command his area, and has dropped half a dozen clangers per season. How is he a hit??? A few world class saves and performances but more often than not he disappoints.

Anyhow it's a game of opinions and interesting seeing your verdict even if massively disagree on some (although Steele a hit?)I'd also say Judge was a hit as an excellent player for this league but we never used him properly. But I think despite our different verdicts either way it shows that Bowyer got as much right as wrong. Imo he can spot a player well but when looking at frees his record becomes a lot weaker. This alive with our none existant budget suggests his time was up.

Sorry, course he's not. But could he be eventually?

He does exist. YouTube him and there's a whole montage if you dare look. Not short of confidence and some skill. Takes most of the goals very well, is two footed and there are glimpses of a player with a bit of guile. However, he plays in the Scots div. 1 so make of it what you will. I'd never heard of him until 5 minutes ago!
