Hibbert to rotate with Henley, Brown to add cover at CB, Osman would enhance our midfield in terms of ability. Plus they'd all add vast experience.

It would easy be at least 60/70k a week at the cheapest for them lads can't see us having that to spend!

Football can change very quickly and nothing is ever done until paperwork is done.

Alot of rumours and speculation happens.

No surprise that Fulham are interest in Marshall.

Do you really mean Nixon got it wrong AGAIN? Not worth quoting really is he?

I think Osman, Hibbert and Brown are too old for the Championship.

I wouldnt be signing any players over 28 years old apart from Danny Graham.

Players at 28 are in their prime. Exactly what we need to hit the ground running. Good job you are not the manager.

How did he got wrong Al? Fulham had an interest in Marshall? Never said Marshall was leaving tho.

Give it a rest Al for abit.

We need players who want to be here and play for the club.

I would be happy if we sign Graham and Stokes. Big if tho.

No you give it a rest. Nixon never says anything definite does he?

Why do you think that 28year old players would not want to play for the club. I don't understand your logic. Am I not allowed to disagree with you or are you the only one allowed an opinion?

Don't say rotate !!! That's the Bowyer coming out in you

Backup is a better word, whatever happens if we go back to needlessly rotating we'll suffer again.

My point Al is we should signing players who want to be here and NOT collecting their last big pay day like we had before under a certain manager.

Would you like to sign Graham or Stokes this summer? Both been linked to us in the press this week.

I am grateful to chaddy for posting Nixon's Rovers related transfer tweets on here, and I think the board is a lesser place without the info. Whatever people say about Nixon, he is the only national journalist to my knowledge who covers Rovers.

So I will summarise what he has tweeted in the last 24 hours.

Loan deal for young attacking David Dunn esq midfielder, has played plenty of games and scores goals. Club, agent and player agreed. Need to sort financials. Keeping quiet on the name as a bigger club also want him.

If people don't want to read this they can ignore it!

OK but at 28 they are not collecting their last pay day. If you had said 30 I may have agreed with you. At 28 they are at their best in my opinion.

Graham I would certainly sign on a two year contract with an option provided the wages are not silly. We have seen him and we know what we are getting.

I don't know Stokes so I have no opinion on him but at 27 he is the right age.

He also covers Bolton, Bumley & Wigan the same as he does Rovers yet their fans seem to have a lesser obsession with him. Also I wonder what links us and those others quite heavily, even pre Coylee..........

Anyway I agree that it's easy to ignore the postings about him if anyone wishes to but I'd also say to his Nickoteens go back 12/18 months then look back at everything he's speculated, mused over and said it's on, it's done, it's nearly done.

Then take half of one hand and reckon up how many have actually been correct. Then, even taking the nature of football into it. ask yourselves is it really worth paying any attention to him at all.

Completely agree Al. We need players who are ready and able to pull their weight in the Championship. You only have to look at the type of players that Souness brought in when we got promotion. They were guys who knew what the game was about and had the experience to help guide the younger players like Dunny, Duff and Jansen. The problem we have is that players at their prime are expensive and beyond our means if we are working with a limited budget which seems to be the case. Signing Graham would be a step in the right direction but we would need many more of that quality to have a hope of even being on the fringes of the play-offs. Sadly, I don't believe the will or the money is there to get the type of quality we need and having a manager who has failed at his last three clubs is not going to help.

A very good point. You could count his successes on half the fingers of one hand. A third if you are a Dingle. Not worth the print on the forum.

Fair enough. Reasoned post.

I just find it more interesting musing over rovers related transfer gossip, even if some of it is merely gossip, than reading nothing at all. At the minute I find myself having to trawl through twitter to find out the latest transfer gossip. I would much rather just come on to this site to read it as I have done for many years

I can't believe that Chaddy had just told someone to 'give it a rest'!

Al, Chaddy can do whatever he likes. It doesn't matter how much it winds people up, as long as he keeps up his 'who me?' pretence whilst doing it.

He's like a BRFCS equivalent of Venkys. Keep taking the @#/? and anyone who dissents is ignored (even scorned) by the establishment to the point that fans just stop bothering.

But the ignore function is completely pointless as a means for me to stop getting angry if you are going to keep quoting him.

Completely agree. And this thread is turning into a watered down Twitter. That's not what it's about, surely?

I posted within the guidelines that are set.

Wind people up? I posted my opinions and nothing more.

This is the transfer thread and surely thats where the gossip/rumours should go. Whether its from Twitter or Media outlets shouldnt matter.

Some people dont have Twitter but still want to know about the gossip or rumours.

The only people quoting him are those that disagree with him incidentally. Which is their right of course, but he doesn't have carte Blanche on this board and to suggest so is simply wide of the mark.

People like myself who are looking for links/quick updates have to read through pages of bickering between the same posters day in and day out.

Not quite, there is a pinned transfer links thread at the top of the threads page requested by Chaddy for links, that should be for links to tweets, the LT, or anywhere else and has pointed out by Chaddy in that thread this one should be for discussion about the links . Confused?

Although I do see links posted by Chaddy in this thread after the transfer link thread was set up and pinned at his request, so Im not sure what goes where :) and tomorrow it may change

Whether we like it or not social media is the vehicle of news , i have only recently joined twitter and that was only to join in the venkys out protest , i dont understand twitter , i don't read twitter ,i just dont get it , so for someone like Chaddy or whoever relaying info , rumour , stories from twitter i appreciate .. i might not always believe it but it makes interesting reading

Anyways back to transfers....a mate of mine with PNE connections seems to think they have offered Spurr a contract

Spurr is or has had an house built locally and wants to stay around these parts , so i could believe that
