1arC Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Wonder if Coyle manages any MLS gems. Someone heard him talking in the pub last night and he said that a guy called S Gerard, may possibly forge a carer in England. He says he may not make the premier league, but probably good enough for the second tier.

Backroom Mike E Posted June 12, 2016 Backroom Posted June 12, 2016 Isn't Graham technically still registered to Rovers until the end of June? If so, a meeting would be a matter of courtesy of nothing else. Although courtesy to players has been in short supply from Rovers in recent years, just ask Salgado, Nelsen, Roberts et al. I'm never quite sure how it works with loan deals. Is the end of the season after the final game played, or the 30th June as you suggest? Means we've been paying (allegedly) half his wages for not playing for a month.
rovers11 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Saw Feeney a few times last season and he's unrecognisable from the one that played here. Looked a threat everytime he was on the ball. An ok signing I'd say.

Can't remember where I got it from.

According to this he's not a free agent until 1st July but maybe that just means his contract with Sunderland.http://m.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/14519704.Danny_Graham_refusing_to_rule_out_Blackburn_Rovers_return_as_interested_clubs_circle_for_striker/ Interesting that we are speaking to him before then if we don't hold his registration.

Could Sunderland argue we're tapping him up in that case? Or maybe it's just common practice.
Atomicrover Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Could Sunderland argue we're tapping him up in that case? Or maybe it's just common practice. In light of his contract ending it wouldn't surprise me that Sunderland have agreed to talks, its no skin off their nose at this stage
oldjamfan1 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Not everyone wants to live in Glasgow though. Although Blackburn is dire, the surrounding areas are nice and Manchester isn't far away. Don't underestimate the whinging power of a WAG. ☺ Glasgow and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning!
Backroom DE. Posted June 12, 2016 Backroom Posted June 12, 2016 Could Sunderland argue we're tapping him up in that case? Or maybe it's just common practice. Why would they care if they're releasing him anyway?
davulsukur Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I read somewhere he's registered to Rovers till the 17th. Can't remember where I got it from. Sunderland website says 30th June. "Players out of contract as of June 30, 2016 include Wes Brown, Steven Fletcher, Danny Graham and Steve Harper"
T J Hooker Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Glasgow and the surrounding area is absolutely stunning! technically you could probably say that about any town and city in the British Isles
mustard Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Could Sunderland argue we're tapping him up in that case? Or maybe it's just common practice. Aren't teams allowed to talk to players if their contract is up within 6 months?
Dunnfc Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Aren't teams allowed to talk to players if their contract is up within 6 months? Last month i.e June in England and six months anywhere else and Scotland if based in the UK.

An ok signing I'd say. Better than Marshall or Conway or Bennett ? Doubt it very much doubt it plus we are covered for wingers for now and desperate for other areas. Pointless signing as it stands and if it goes through I'd suggest it's to replace one of the others who will be sold or jettisoned.

Ignoring conspiracy theories we are back to bringing in players because they are available rather than what we need.Absolute priority has to be two strikers.
adsfortheblues Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Danny Graham held talks with Celtic over the weekend and I understand has now agreed to join them. Would make sense, would score in Scotland, get champions league football and would be playing with Rodgers again

Absolute priority has to be two strikers. Very average player without a club after leaving Bolton because of the wages yet there is unlikely to be a que of clubs offering him anywhere near what he was getting because he's not really worth it. Then maybe along comes little old agent run Blackburn Rovers and connected Coylee and snap him up on a championship contract despite already being well stocked in his position with players as good and better. I don't even think that's a conspiracy it's more plain old stating the facts
JBiz Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Better than Marshall or Conway or Bennett ? Doubt it very much doubt it plus we are covered for wingers for now and desperate for other areas. Occam's razor ie potentially one or two of them might be on their way? Would fit into a wage cutting scenario and the Marshall rumour. Much more likely than a conspiracy?

Little to look forward to without a bit of class coming in. We'll probably be dealing in the dross that is left - happy days!!

Much more likely than a conspiracy? I'd say wage cutting and player sales (with a whiff of agent involvement) along with questionable signings fits snugly into a conspiracy theory, wouldn't you?

tomphil Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Let's crank up the Coylnspiracy theory a notch... What if he is bringing in Feeney as part of his remit to sell the likes of Conway and Marshall? Well Marshall will probably be on a decent wedge and of course he wants a new contract and probably a pay rise so that'll be his card marked along with Hanley. As said it would all fit into chopping the wages which is why we'll no be offering Graham or anyone else 20k pwk. I reckon from now on we are a 5 to 10 grand pwk paying club. Mind you it didn't do Brum any harm, only outside chance of any quality whatsoever will be heavily subsidised loans which to be fair does seem to be an area where Coyle has been good.
