[Archived] Summer Transfer/discussion Thread

Not really.

You moan about me posting transfer news/updates from Nixon but other posters like Gav and Mani like me doing this. So what the problem/issues with me doing this?

I posted the transfers links/posts in the correct threads.

I do posts other links/news from other sources like Paul Wheelock/LT, Daily Mail, Daily Miiror/Sunday People.

I've said before that due to the support you get from the mods I've given up on commenting on your posts Chaddy but I feel I must say that I don't want to read Nixon posts from Gav and Mani too. I just think he is a charlatan.

Thought Duncan Shearer was purchased to stop another team getting over the line:)

Posted a photo of the (Sunday) mirror article on the orig post, that somebody shared on twitter

Exactly my point. We bought him to help us over the line (by weakening somebody else).

Boro trying to offload Rhodes to free up cash, a piece in the mirror today.

Worth a cheeky loan bid?

Edit from Twitter

Well, well, well. Boro come to their senses and realise they've made a duff buy. Any Rovers fan on here with any nous could have told them if they'd asked.

We can post any rumours. Likewise we can also criticise / doubt the source of the rumours.

The problem with Nixon is that, so far, he missed our only confirmed incoming despite having about 10 guesses since Coyle arrived.

If Hendrie (or hendry) happens that will be a second transfer someone else broke.

He's like one of them cheap fraudulent pub psychics that get all the girls at work excited with their 'mystical powers' when he's really a clever 'guesser' .

I was agreeing with that until you used the word "clever". "Clever" and "Nixon" do not belong in the same sentence.

Duff buy? uhmm not really scored crucial goals in the final stages to guarantee them at least 150 million

Gav, I can say that Owen Coyle is working very hard on transfers and talking to different clubs about possible loans. Look at Hull where Steve Bruce future is still very unclear. no plans have been make there. or Southampton where they still haven't appointed a new manager yet

Southampton have lost their manager to a bigger and richer club because he's been successful. Their supporters can be confident the people running their club will make another sensible decision as they did with Adkins, Pochettino and Koeman. One thing is for sure, they won't be appointing an ex-Portsmouth manager who has been fired from his last 3 jobs.

Hull have issues with their ownership. I believe their owner isnt in good health and is looking to sell the club.

Neither of those clubs has 13 players on their books, neither have been through the turnover in personnel that we have and both are professional football clubs, which sadly we are not.

The closest thing to our present situation was Blackpool 2 years ago. That may change if and when we get around 10 or more decent players in the building, but until then there's no point comparing us to any sensible clubs.

Then get rid of him probably at a big loss because they realise he's not good enough for the PL ?

unless they pay somebody 140 odd million to take him off their hands then its a big loss , I would personally call the buy a weighted gamble that paid off

The signing of Stokes must put paid to the idea that our potential transfers are sat waiting for Venkys to approve. By that same token, surely this means that signing Graham is less likely.

Either that or Venkys are picking and choosing which players to agree to:

Alleged IRA sympathiser who will divide the fanbase? APPROVED.

PL-quality striker who knows the club and has scored goals, and the fans will rally behind?

"We'll get back to you"

£9m is a big gamble but credit to them for taking it and credit also for raising their sights and offloading a below-PL standard player. They'll be lucky to get £5m for him

More realistically I'd say that one who played in Scotland, released last year, is probably half the cost of one released from premier league contract, with a lot less offers.

Or players are on Holiday so their agent does the deal and players return from Holiday this week to do the medical and sign the offical paperwork???

Just before pre season training starts on 27th June

Or they are OKaying One 'investment' of funds at a time. Venkys probably took 3 weeks to probably allow coyle say £1, 000, 000 including wages and fees to spend. Now that has gone he'll probably need approval for more. This probably won't come until Hanley is sold.

Yeah, I'm only messing. Venkys deserved the benefit of the doubt.

I think on the basis of such reason though I'd have approved the Graham transfer before Stokes. That's if Graham is really on the cards.

If Rhodes leave Boro what happens to the alleged £2miliion we would get if they stay up? Do we still get it?

My money is that he'll end up at Wednesday probably in Janurary.

I wouldn't be surprised if we've really had our pants pulled down on that one by Gibson once it became obvious we were desperate for it to go through. From their point of view he played a blinder.

Predicted he'll end up back in the Champ at some point next season months ago although I did say probably on loan back to Huddersfield or somewhere.

I thought it was £2mill if they went up, which they have. Is there another £2mill if they stay up?

If so it shouldn't make a difference whether Rhodes is still playing for them or not.

Anyway Jordan has always wanted to try his luck in the Premier League. Surely he'll be given a chance at least until January. He did help to get them there.

what's Alex baptiste up to these days?

That's worth a thought if we sell Hanley.

EDIT- Just seen he is Middlesborough,s player and was on loan to Sheffield United for three months from March 2016.

Could be available for a loan. Boro' may think they owe us a favour for Rhodes and their promotion. They are unlikely to play him in the Premier League. Get on the phone Coyle.
