Hasta Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 what's Alex baptiste up to these days? Think he's still at Boro after he broke his leg last summer a week after signing. He spent the last few months on loan at Sheffield Utd but dealing with Boro might be problematic after Rhodes! Good shout though.

tomphil Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Hanley rumours picking up pace now so at least we can look forward to a few more freebies after the next asset gets cashed.

It was Borough who buggered about with the transfer.
mustard Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 One little rumour in a tabloid and jim mk2 is already playing the "I told you so" card. Something about any fan "with nous" bla bla. I thought we were all agreed the majority of such tabloid tittle tattle is baloney? Ps as for "making a loss", what's £150mil - £10mil again? Not forgetting they'd definitely recuperate some of it. Great gamble that ultimately paid off.
LDRover Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I had no idea he was playing! (They like to keep things quiet there (mwhahahaha etc)). Yeah, be rude not to. I'll look into it. It's only an ayrton as well. A no-brainer.
USABlue Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Boro trying to offload Rhodes to free up cash, a piece in the mirror today. Worth a cheeky loan bid? Edit from Twitter Does that cost us some extra dosh. We can post any rumours. Likewise we can also criticise / doubt the source of the rumours. The problem with Nixon is that, so far, he missed our only confirmed incoming despite having about 10 guesses since Coyle arrived. If Hendrie (or hendry) happens that will be a second transfer someone else broke. He's like one of them cheap fraudulent pub psychics that get all the girls at work excited with their 'mystical powers' when he's really a clever 'guesser' . Nixon and clever in the same sentence surely not.
Pedro Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Boro trying to offload Rhodes to free up cash, a piece in the mirror today. Worth a cheeky loan bid? Edit from Twitter It will cost them 2million just to keep him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned or benched by the end of January.
Hasta Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 To be fair to Rhodes he scored 5 in his last 7 for Boro including the last minute winner at Bolton. Disaster.
Pedro Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Hanley rumours picking up pace now so at least we can look forward to a few more freebies after the next asset gets cashed. He's grown on me after a dodgy few years. If i was him, I'd probably want out if the only song the fans can think of is mocking the size of my head.
gumboots Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Stephen Hendry 😀 sorry. Was dashing and didnt check spellings
USABlue Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 The signing of Stokes must put paid to the idea that our potential transfers are sat waiting for Venkys to approve. By that same token, surely this means that signing Graham is less likely. Either that or Venkys are picking and choosing which players to agree to: Alleged IRA sympathiser who will divide the fanbase? APPROVED. PL-quality striker who knows the club and has scored goals, and the fans will rally behind? "We'll get back to you" I was saying exactly that to the missus yesterday, more "evidence" that they are now in it to @#/? us off. A player they know most fans want and they dangle an offer to him which seems like it is low enough for him to consider other clubs. By doing this they shift the blame to Graham being greedy. There is a growing suspicion for me that they are now at war with us fans. The only.good thing about that.is it.means we've got to their heads, made em wobble a bit.

Neal Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Baptiste would be a solid signing for us, good centre half at Championship level.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Yeah, I'm only messing. Venkys deserved the benefit of the doubt. I think on the basis of such reason though I'd have approved the Graham transfer before Stokes. That's if Graham is really on the cards. With wages probably more dosh than has been okayed. Testing Venky's purse springs & why i said Hanley needs to be sold to fund it. Baptiste would be a solid signing for us, good centre half at Championship level. Looked a very bad break...with age probably struggle at this level now I suspect.
Al Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 It will cost them 2million just to keep him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned or benched by the end of January. Why will it cost them £2mill to keep him? They are already promoted so that is £2mill for us. If there is a stay up for a season clause for another £2mill why should it matter whether Rhodes is still their player. Surely just staying up should trigger the clause. Why should it not? We would have to be stupid to allow them to get out of it because they had transferred or loaned him. Even Rovers are not that naive. ------------Are they?

perthblue02 Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Do people seriously believe Boro will let Rhodes go? If they want to bring somebody better in who's goals will in their opinion be the difference between a possible 180 million or 24 million in the 2017/18 season, then yes
neophox Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Because of the money £££ on stake for promotion the coming season Venkys looks to approve Coyle transfers but a long long way to go...

This had crossed my mind several times and the word 'spite' is uppermost in my thoughts. In fact I think spite has superseded stupid as far as them wretches are concerned.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I thought it was £2mill if they went up, which they have. Is there another £2mill if they stay up? If so it shouldn't make a difference whether Rhodes is still playing for them or not. Anyway Jordan has always wanted to try his luck in the Premier League. Surely he'll be given a chance at least until January. He did help to get them there. It was rumoured at the time by some, others didn't think so.
Iceman Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 I wouldnt him back. Rhodes wanted to leave Rovers. He went public with his demand. He made his bed and now is the time to lie in it. You wouldn't want Rhodes back? Would you rather him go to another championship team, and score the goals for them? Imagine Rhodes came back on loan, and we manage to pick up Graham. Imagine a front line of Rhodes, Stokes and Graham, as compared to Delfy, Brown and Koita. I doubt that rumour is true of Rhodes though, because it just doesnt make sense to write him off, with them not having played a PL game yet

I want a target man type striker with a pacey striker then a 3rd striker with Skill. 4th one being a number 10 type. Each striker with different skills. If we sign Danny Graham he would be 1st choice with either Stokes or pacey striker

I doubt that rumour is true of Rhodes though, because it just doesnt make sense to write him off, with them not having played a PL game yet Couldn't give a damn where Rhodes goes, but for sure, I wouldn't pay the money Boro would want for him, just to go back to where we were with him. Sounds like Boro have now worked him out - just as Scotland, rovers and every other decent side have. If Boro could get back anywhere near to what they paid for him, they would be mad to turn it down. He wasn't a regular starter for them in the championship and wouldn't be in the PL. All in my opinion of course

A team that struggled for goals, and you wouldnt want Rhodes(a goalscorer) back. Lets not get into this Rhodes debate again, we know how silly the for and against Rhodes thing went. Those that wanted him out, wanted him out because he struggled for form. Struggling with form is normal in the world of sport, you cant be scoring every game..
