Derby like spending money for the sake of it, as seen by their purchase of Nick Blackman. A completely unnecessary signing for several million pounds and six months on Blackman hasn't scored and has only made about 10 appearances. So if another very expensive striker becomes available it wouldn't surprise me to see them attempt to sign him.

Sheffield Wednesday would be more likely though. Their manager clearly wanted him but they couldn't pay the £9 million+ that we wanted. I imagine if Middlesbrough are wanting rid of him and his wage then they will have to reduce his asking price to around £6 million which would probably be within reach for more clubs at this level.

Personally I'd like to see him get a chance in the Prem and I think he'll notch a few but only as a bit part striker. For that reason plus he don't need the money I can see him sitting it out for a while unless he's told you won't get a kick.

I want him to do well too. Always a nice lad here. I don't think he'd do much in the Premier League, certainly not consistently. Too slow and weak. I think you could get away with one or the other.

I wouldn't Speedie, with Rhodes you're guaranteed 20 goals a season, probably 30 with better service in the championship.

Any manager worth his salt should be able to build a team around those goals.

But Graham makes the team better. For me there is a reason that Graham has played at the top level and Jordan still hasn't. Irrelevant anyway as we won't end up with any of them.

Graham is the type of striker we need in this team. He can run the channels, excellent work rate, hold and link the play up and score goals. Gestede and Rhodes cant do all of this.

we need a team and not built around 1 player in my opinion. we had Rhodes and in 3 and half years we never got in the top 6

Looked at in isolation its a fact, but factor in loss of form due to transfer speculation, uncertainly etc, 16 isn't a bad return at all.

I agree with Speedie, Graham makes the team play better, but goals win games, whether the team plays well or not, so it would be goals over play for me in this instance. I don't think Graham being in the side improves us enough to cover Rhodes goals.
