It took them over a month to come up with Owen Coyle.

Not normal.

actually, it took them a few days to go for Owen Coyle, after taking a month to do interviews with other candidates

Haha so Boro are trying to move Rhodes on? I have to say I'm unsurprised. It's pretty difficult watching him in training everyday struggling to do the most simple drills, unable to make 5yrd passes...the lads whispering and laughing at him. Painful for managers. Karanka obv sees what many others do...a league 2 footballer with the finishing prowess of Jermain Defoe. I don't want him back.

Just seen that Kazim Richards left Celtic to go to Brazil.

Would have liked him back here, we should have been on that one

Jeez Iceman, your splitting hairs there. That only proves their chaotic decision making process. From PL informing them he was activating his release clause to Coyle holding up the scarf was 50+ days. That's too long to end up with a bang average (at best) candidate.

Other players whispering and laughing at him? I didn't realise you attended training but they probably whispering, "he is training like that yet he is the player that constantly bails us out"

A League 2 footballer who has scored the most goals in the division in the last few years? Nonsense how hes seemingly one of the worst players we've ever had now hes gone, have you seen some of the other players we have? Hope Akpan, Jason Lowe, Adam Henley and co laughing at a lack of technical ability? Of course...

To be fair I agree, who wants someone who scored over 80 goals for us?

Come on, if that was even remotely true he wouldn't have made it as a professional footballer in the first place.

Sorry Mani with respect thats just complete and utter bunkum.

But I'm not getting into a debate about Middlesbroughs striker.

Well yes, because Coyle was still in a job when the supposed short listed interviews were being done. I think Cheston mentioned it, or it was stated on the official website. So how Coyle got the job so quickly after leaving his US club is anybodys guess, but we all know how this went.

Anyway, whats done is done. Who knows what will happen next at the club.

I bet the keepers don't snigger as the ball pings past them into the goals pretty much every time he gets a shot(which is what matters most) and why does the oppo always have to plan all there defensive strategies around keeping rhodes out of the game if he's so crap.

Whatever Mani i respect your info you give but you always seem to have had it in for Rhodes maybe because your mate Short did not like him...people like akpan lowe henley fonzi koita in training and you think rhodes poorness stood out...yeh rite

Looked at in isolation its a fact, but factor in loss of form due to transfer speculation, uncertainly etc, 16 isn't a bad return at all.

How about simple loss of form and effort?

He didn't have one of his best seasons and nobody guarantees a certain quota of goals - it really is that simple. We did well out of him in terms of goals. Shame we couldn't turn it into a promotion. Under better circumstances and management, I'd imagine we could have been much higher.

Mate, it isn't about me having it in for him. I'm telling you what coaches and players were saying about him, openly. His finishing is TOP drawer but unfortunately strikers are expected to do so much more now. So yeah, they would stand open mouthed whilst he failed again and again to simply trap a ball and lay it off...

I don't want him back. We've all moved on.

FYI - everyone liked Jordan. He's a great guy by all accounts.

According Alan Nixon signing this week

If Alan Nixon signs this week, I'm definitely boycotting.

Whilst being very average in general football terms no way was he as bad as you make out and I'd say some of it was probably just banter knowing how much wedge he was alleged to be on.

If the managers and coaches your referring to are Short & Bowyer, and I think they are, well that speaks volumes if you look where they are now and the complete pigs ear they made of it with the best squad we've had since relegation. Admittedly they more or less built it but Jordan Rhodes pulled their arse and the teams out of more holes in his time here than pricks in a dartboard.

By the way just what is your agenda in regards BRFC ?

when I went to watch training some years ago you should have heard the other players having a go about Dunny. It's part of what goes on in every job.

Exactly. Rhodes was a sound lad and popular with the others so most will have been banter because being honest he was on a bigger wage than some better strikers in the Prem.

The whispering campaign amongst these 'coaches' says more about them than him. It was also an open secret that some in the club wanted him cashed In but I suspect there was multiple reasons for that. I know that him and Gaz fell out at one point over tactics when they tried to turn him into a bully boy.

Bowyer & his gang did well under the circumstances but it was as clear as water they'd no idea how to get the best out of what they had in terms of strengths etc.

Interesting. This fits with my own observations. Super goalscorer. Below Championship level in some other departments.

Mind you, people at Southampton were quoted as saying Shearer couldn't trap a bag of cement!

I agree with Speedie, Graham makes the team play better, but goals win games, whether the team plays well or not, so it would be goals over play for me in this instance. I don't think Graham being in the side improves us enough to cover Rhodes goals.

Irrelevant anyway.

We scored MORE goals with Graham in the side and without Rhodes Gav. The argument for keeping him (the only argument) was that we wouldn't score enough goals without Rhodes. That's been shown to be total bunkum.

This ........

20 goals in 21 games before he left.

26 goals in 21 games after he left

How does that not improve the side?

With respect den, Graham was here for 4 months, to compare his record to Rhodes is insulting posters intelligence.
