Prior to Jack getting involved that is how the club operated. Sell players, try and buy replacements for a fraction of the fee received and put the rest into the everyday running of the club. That was at a time when the board was made up of local businessmen who cared about the club and its future. Now we have owners who don't appear to have feelings for the club and no doubt see it as just a business venture that has not worked out. There is little motivation for them to plough good money after bad. They seem to have opted to keep the club ticking over and no more. One suspects that Coyle got the job simply on the grounds that he was prepared to work with the existing backroom staff and so save costs on paying people up and hiring others to replace them. Thus with transfers, any new players brought in will be funded by the saving on wages of those released together with a couple of sales. There is nothing new in this although many of us had hoped that we had put those days behind us for good.

Yep, but it doesn't help Parson.

What could be worse, or more frustrating than having mega rich foreign owners, who know nothing about football, who won't put money in, who do sell or get rid of anything or anyone of value, won't communicate with anyone yet won't even consider selling?

Seriously, what could be worse? It's never been like this before. It isn't a scenario that even us older ones have encountered.

If there are skeletons in the accounts and thats why they wont entertain selling, what kind of time frame are we looking at legally before these would be destroyed?

How long legally do you have to keep records of accounts?

We are approaching roughly 6 years since they bought us. Cant be long long left before these potential smoking guns can be banished?

Who says he wants to play for us more than the next club?

He wants to play for wherever he can maximise his potential as this is likely to be his last contract of note.

And we have to match what anyone else offers him do we? Well lets hope one of the relegated moneybags clubs don't offer him 40k a week then as according to your rationale we need to match it. With that kind of lazy thinking 47er we'd be in administration before the summers out.

"Don't care what he wants just match what his best offer is..." crazy talk.

Not only that Jal but, with the captain nearing the exit door, he's odds on for the armband!!

I don't think we will see Hanley at Rovers when pre season training starts.

Also, keep an eye out for Arsenal's Toral.

Understand Toral's signing likely to be announced tomorrow - Thursday at the latest.

JBiz, what's with the academic arguments? They have sold all our star players one by one and,very early in the piece, in clutches.as well as getting rid of as good as a manager as we could get.

In fact, so keen (hate that word) were they to get rid of players who could really play, they paid them to leave in some cases,in other cases they were simply never picked, for weeks on end.

Will never forget Wigan where N'Zonzi was substituted AT HALF-TIME in a game we had to win to stand any chance of avoiding the drop.

Now they have sold all the expensive players, we are down to the ones who can attract any sort of reasonable fee----Hanley, Marshall, Evans, possibly Duffy. Soon the entire team will consist of youngsters, free transfers and loans and there will be no-one left to sell, unless, of course Coyle works miracles with them.

In that unlikely case, the circus might continue for a year or two more. I seriously expect us to be in League 2 within two or three years.

All this in 6 years! From a team regularly finishing in the top half of the Premiership, with gates of around 22000, to this.

In the face of what has happened, what is the point of arguing whether it's deliberate conspiracy or not? Who cares?

If it's not, and instead the owners are merely responsible for where we are by sheer stupidity, neglect or something else,what difference does it make?

Excellent post.

But it's all been said. No-one cares any more - including most of the remaining Rovers fans but the number of season tickets sold and the attendance in August will be the real verdict.

Who do you understand it to be and why?

Fully support talking about that, in other threads!

Thing is the two are intrinsically linked. Our transfer policy such that it is, is determined by Venkys plan. Which given it's nature and ineptness is bound to raise questions of legitimacy and conspiracy, which I for one doubt is too far side of the mark.

If it is Toral, Nixon is hardly going to admit it until he's either 'broken the story' or the lad has signed - haven't posters on here said Nixon wont commit on this one until the deal is done?

All I can tell you is that a friend in London (has Arsenal season tickets) understands Rovers have asked about Toral and what he also heard today suggested that he was on his way to us.

Kamy revealed who the mystery player is yesterday.

Chaddy - have you asked 'Al' about this (Patrick Roberts) ?
