BigUts Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Agree pal. But every time i see your username i think its BigNuts. Dont ask me why lol As you can see on my avatar I used to have it on my shirt, and someone once asked why I openly said Rovers fans were bigoted. I obviously put him right that it was a longstanding nickname derived from my name 'Stu'! And don't worry, there aren't any big nuts in my house unless there is a pack of nobbies lurking in the back of a cupboard!

rovers11 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Fair play to Coyle, he's showing a lot of ambition in the transfer market despite the tight budget. Graham now a done deal.
alexanders Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 So Graham opted for Rovers instead of Celtic? Wow, Coyle KNOWS how to talk in both ways. Is that a fact ?
Leonard Venkhater Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Funny that because I see BigTits. Freud would have a field day picking all that apart... What's not to be happy about with that bit of business. Anyone claiming otherwise is just being churlish IMO.. I take your point. I will reserve judgement on the squad until I can review all the incomings and outgoings in September. To be honest, the squad that Bowyer had last year was pretty awful , so anything that was not a big improvement would seem like deliberate relegation-again!
Iceman Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 At the end of the day we could have: IN: Stokes, Graham,(Midfelder, think its Toral,) Hendrie, Out: Delfouneso, Williamsson, Brown, Jackson, Taylor, Kilgallon, Happy with that ? Also think there is a good chance getting Powell. Rovers starts off season with Norwich at home, then Wigan away... Im not a fan of Coyle, but if he gets in all these rumoured players, then he would have done well
J*B Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Where has Graham a done deal come from? Still can't see it unfortunately.
rovers11 Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Where has Graham a done deal come from? Still can't see it unfortunately. Apparently it's going to be announced this afternoon. Let's wait and see if that's correct or not.
chaddyrovers Posted June 22, 2016 Author Posted June 22, 2016 Danny Graham would be great signing for us. Would give us that target man type we need J*B deal has been reporting by 2 newspapers this morning. The Sun and The Guardian. Also Nicko saying it should get done
davulsukur Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Graham signing would be a big boost. Lets just hope we aren't planning on flogging Marshall/Hanley to cover it.

neophox Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Dont know why everyone is so obsessed with Graham coming, hes 31 this summer and wont get any better so to give him 3 year deal is madness, But maybe that was the stumbling block. He's a good striker for this league, nothing more....

He's a good striker for this league, nothing more.... Because he is a focal point that you can build a team off. And he works his knackers off. Something that we have not had for quite some time.
Ricky Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 I'd be happy with Graham coming in as the main striker. Just wonder who else we would get as Graham and Stokes still leaves us light up top. Would Watt be the other option or is that deal dead now?

Third year should have been an option exercisable subject to both parties commitment at some future date. Rovers never learn - has cost us a fortune in pay-offs over the last few years. Underlines, IMV, the lack of nous at Ewood.

But it really depends how much they are on - I think the above were all on 30k+ a week. It may be that to get a decent player like Graham we need to sweeten the deal by offering a year longer than we would like to given his age?!

We either; A) want good players who will demand longish, expensive contracts or we want average / crap players who will accept 1yr contracts on low pay. If, as reported we are about to sign Stokes, Hendrie, Toral, Graham and Powell in a week then I say that's bloody great and an indication that we are still going to be competitive.
Neal Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 With regards to Graham, hope he signs and agree that 3 years is a bit long but if you look at Murphy at Ipswich... His best years are about the age same that Graham is right now, very similar players.

Whilst I don't disagree, Stokes, Hendrie and Powell have all suffered from a lack of playing time over a sustained period and are seeking to re-invent themselves. That can go either way as first they must get up to speed. Graham is the wrong side of 30 and prone to niggling injury. Don't know much about Toral to be fair, but we really need players that will walk straight into the first team and improve the side. Is Spurr leaving?

I like your enthusiasm, but I'd wager you've never seen 3 of them play before, so whilst its good to get some players on board, not sure how you can claim we'll be competitive?

Neal Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Could do with looking around in the lower leagues for a striker with pace.

Neal Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Not sure i like the fact that Coyle is claiming Hendrie is "an exciting young player"... I dont want him to be exciting, i want him to be boring and and do his job.
Al Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Graham signing would be a big boost. Lets just hope we aren't planning on flogging Marshall/Hanley to cover it. If Graham signs it will justify my decision to renew my season ticket and could make me think that Coyle may not be all that bad. Or is that going too far?
