There's a photo on Facebook that someone has taken at Brockhall of the name tags on the car park. There's one with 'Sandy Stewart, Assistant Manager' already made and screwed into the wall on the training centre.

Doesn't look like a fake photo. Looks like they haven't wasted any time getting Coyle's mate in through the door.

Classy. Has he even been announced yet?

It's probably how Irvine found out. Classless as ever.

Pb, no way is this the same club that it used to be - not in anything more than bricks and mortar anyway.

Irvine was at training on Monday. His departure was only announced by the club on Wednesday. And then by Friday morning the club have managed to not only appoint Stewart, but go to the trouble to manufacture and install his name tag on the training ground car park. Remarkably efficient for a club as appallingly run as this one.

They're taking us for fools.

Interesting that the club said that Irvine was leaving because he wanted to 'further his career away from Ewood Park'. So presumably then when Irvine turns up as assistant manager at Norwich or wherever it is he's going that Rovers consider him to be 'furthering' his career by jumping ship to a rival. Nothing like putting ourselves down eh?

Perhaps Stewart has the correct agency looking after him, and Irvine doesn't!

I think a large part of the problem Capt Kayos, is that football has become a global industry in which very rich people are buying football clubs for a variety of reasons other than supporting a club in the local community. The increasing number of foreign owners of clubs in this country has completely changed the relationship between supporters and those who own and run our clubs. When it was local businessmen who owned the clubs it was much easier to register your displeasure and they often took note of supporters feelings no matter how reluctantly. I well remember Bill Bancroft saying Iley wouldn't be sacked and Bill Fox supporting Saxton after he had lost the confidence of the supporters. In both cases the managers were sacked when unrest wouldn't abate. Today, many owners either don't turn up at clubs or are flown in and flown out for matches in double quick time without ever coming into contact with supporters. Because ownership is so remote from the supporter base it has left supporters of many clubs feeling helpless in the wake of foreign ownership - although Blackpool is the exception. Hence when someone like Irvine leaves a club we immediately view it with suspicion. It may well be that he has been offered another job which he prefers. At the moment we simply don't know.

Can't disagree on any of this PB but doesn't mean it has to be accepted - especially in ours/Rovers case

With regards to Irvine though (normally if Irvine had been offered a job elsewhere it would have been picked up on I would have thought) - do you really not feel there is more to it given what has been said /going on etc -

Nothing that happens at Ewood is ever straight forward anymore and the fans can only reflect on what they already know /see and hear - its not us that are creating these circumstances.

I know the lad who posted that onto FB. He is quite well known for being a wind-up merchant. He 'claims' to have been at the training ground but he would have had absolutely no reason whatsoever to be anywhere near there. What is it meant to be, an office door plaque or something?

Presume it is one of the parking space plaques attached to the wall like these behind Jack Byrne in the pic on this page

So you're saying it's fake?

It's bloody good if it is!

Knowing the lad in question Stuart I would say it was a fake, in all likelihood. As you say - a good one.

The official Rovers' Twitter account replied to somebody asking and said the reason it is yet to be announced is because contracts still haven't been signed. Therefore it must be genuine if they've gone to the effort of replying to a fan on the subject.
