tomphil Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Get him in. He'll pick a team to fit a system not the other way around unlike nearly every previous manager since Venables probably. He'll also get constantly slated by media and fans for crap football in friendlies and qualifiers but if he gets us to a tournament he'll make a good go of it I reckon. I do like the idea of Klinsmann but if we are going English there is only one man.

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 12, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted July 12, 2016 The best man for the job as far as I'm concerned. I don't think Dyche or Howe would fancy it at this stage of their careers (the other two best English candidates imo). Once people get past the snobbery of the football and he gets results, they'll soon not care.
chaddyrovers Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Big Sam should be next England Manager. Good tactical and will play the right team. Hope he appoint a good coaching staff. Maybe bring in a former player like a Shearer or Rio with Clement/Holland aswell on the staff. Maybe have Howe on the staff aswell
tomphil Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Yes Howe is a fair shout but I think they'd go for Pardew or Bruce first if they want an Englishman but bottle it with Sam as I expect they will. We need a guy who isn't influenced by the old blazer and corporate brigade into finding places for shirt selling names all the time.
chaddyrovers Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Pardew says its too soon for him to become England manager
ABBEY Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Oh good zzzzam .. At least England won't get relegated .
ABBEY Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Its hoofing home It's hoofing home Footballs hoofing home
Lancaster Rover Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Sam is a good fit for the job IMO, the England manager is a manager, not a coach. They get limited time with the players so there is no time to build a 'philosophy' unless its been coached into that group from youth football, which is hasn't. The best we can hope for is someone who organises the resources he has in the best way to win football matches. It's very different to a Low or Del Bosque as they are working with players who have been coached in a similar style since junior football, our havent and to expect them to pick it up or a manager to enforce it on them in the short space of time they have with them is doomed to failure. It's taken Howe years to impart his style on Bournemouth, across 2 spells, working full time and being able to organise everything within the clubs structure. An England manager cant do that, having someone like Allardyce would be a good fit for where England are at now IMO.
47er Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 What have England done to deserve that?Bombed in every tournament for years?
Gav Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 BBC reported on its Today programme this morning that Big Sam is favourite to take over from Woy. BBC reported yesterday that he'd not even been approached thank christ. Hoof balls to Andy Carrol? An England manager thats never won anything? if we're going down that route give it to Howe, not someone who's remit is to finish 4th from bottom season in season out.

Gameplan A ... Boot it up to Carroll Game plan B .. Boot it up to Carrol I honestly can't see any international player having any respect for a dirty owd centre back at club level.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 12, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted July 12, 2016 It's a results business, he gets results. People don't like the football and that's fair enough, but I'm not sure there is anyone else English who'd do better at a tournament than Allardyce with England. Beggars can't be choosers.....

(no pun intended). Seriously I'm all for it.
ABBEY Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Results ? He had one of worst set of results in prem last season
Lancaster Rover Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 They have respect for Jose Mourinho and Andre Villas Boas, who'd achieved the sum total of nowt in their 'playing' careers. If they win games any manager will be respected.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 12, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted July 12, 2016 Results ? He had one of worst set of results in prem last season He also dragged Sunderland away from the relegation zone against the odds with one of the poorest squads. I'm not saying we shouldn't be aiming for a better manager, but there is an absolute dearth of good English managers at the minute.

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 12, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted July 12, 2016 He's never won anything K-Hod? He's never been at a club where that's realistically been on the cards though has he? He's only been at clubs where his remit has been to avoid relegation...... What other English manager has? There's an incredible lack of good English managers kicking about!
Gav Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 He's never been at a club where that's realistically been on the cards though has he? He's only been at clubs where his remit has been to avoid relegation...... Bunkum Newcastle? West Ham? Blackburn Rovers?
tomphil Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 If only he was appointed a month before a tournament starts I think we'd see players running through brick walls once it got going.
47er Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 Results ? He had one of worst set of results in prem last season Abbey, he kept Sunderland up with games to spare. Another miracle. They were red-hot favourites to go down
chaddyrovers Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 So some people dont want Big Sam? Really? He is experience, tactical good and he would the players a kick up the backside. Dont want another foriegn manager who is here for the cash like Capello or Erikksen. There is 50/60 mil plus wasted there just in wages plus their coaching staff. Think Howe is far too young to be England manager IMO.
