Just like selling Rhodes , we've been in big trouble ever since .that ain't bunkem
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 30, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted August 30, 2016 bunkum We've moved on den, England? Rooney? http://ewoodpark.jimdo.com/attendances-average-attendances-1888-2013/ In black and white re the attendances. Well, Rovers definitely haven't, have we? Well, unless you mean moving backwards at an alarming rate.....
Gav Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Well, Rovers definitely haven't, have we? Well, unless you mean moving backwards at an alarming rate..... Rooney? Captain? K-Hod, keep on topic please
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 30, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted August 30, 2016 Rooney? Captain? K-Hod, keep on topic please Looks like I misunderstood you. What do you have to say about those attendances though?
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 30, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted August 30, 2016 Just like selling Rhodes , we've been in big trouble ever since .that ain't bunkem We've been in big trouble since these idiots rocked up. Every time we've sold a player we've replaced them with someone of lesser cost and generally quality as well.
Gav Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Looks like I misunderstood you. What do you have to say about those attendances though? We never had 25,000 every week, thats just bunkum as I told den earlier. Rooney as captain? the site should be in meltdown like it was when Roy gave him the gig last time out.
Backroom DE. Posted August 30, 2016 Backroom Posted August 30, 2016 We have far more important things to worry about.

Rooney as captain? the site should be in meltdown like it was when Roy gave him the gig last time out. The average over the season was 25,000 for the two seasons he was here though....... We never had 25,000 every week, thats just bunkum as I told den earlier. Rooney as captain? the site should be in meltdown like it was when Roy gave him the gig last time out. He's retiring after the next WC anyhow, like for the managerial position, there aren't any outstanding candidates. We might as well have someone experienced.
den Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 We never had 25,000 every week, thats just bunkum as I told den earlier. You're right Gav. Sometimes we had a lot more.Things didn't turn out as well as the Sam haters thought they would. They thought we'd improve as a team 😀 Gosh.

Keeping Ronney as Captain at the start of Sam's reign makes sense to me. The time is approaching to drop Rooney as a player - unless he really does make it as a creative midfielder ala Pirlo, which I doubt - the armband can then be passed. I don't see any other stand out candidates for Captain - Terry anyone??? Rooney might not stay in the team as a player long enough for him to see the next WC. Meanwhile to sack Rooney would just bring unnecessary instability at the start for Sam. He's not that stupid and Rooney can still do a bit wherever he plays. Personally I hope Sam succeeds with England by winning games - if we are 'nice' to watch well that's a bonus.

He hasn't even taken charge of a full match yet for goodness' sake. Rooney plays regularly for his club who, like it or lump it are one of the biggest in the country. Chances are, he's getting picked for England as well. Which I have no real issue with tbh. The selection of Jagielka and omission of Barkley raised eyebrows for me, but then, Sam Allardyce knows more about professional football than I ever will, ergo I'm happy to trust his judgment.
den Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Just like selling Rhodes , we've been in big trouble ever since .that ain't bunkemLol, you still don't get it Abbey. We've gone downhill ever since we sacked Sam. We IMPROVED after we sold Rhodes. You and Gav got it wrong on both points.

As for the main point, Rooney as captain shows a complete lack of imagination, he's bottled the first major decision, Roy was slagged off by me and many others on here for appointing Rooney as captain, now its fine because its Allardyce, so much for a new era
AllRoverAsia Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Rooney will be the Captain of England until he is no longer fit for purpose as a player. Might not be as long as some seem to fear. IMO.

I always feel like Rooney, like other players gets unfairly criticised. He's over 100 caps for his country and countless appearances and goals at club level. I guess his face just doesn't fit for some people. It still sounds like you're desperate to criticise Allardyce because you didn't like him when he was here, Gav. With respect, of course.
speeeeeeedie Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 We have far more important things to worry about. Rovers fans do, however it's a welcome relief to me to discuss something other than the depression that Rovers brings. I think Gav is bang wrong on his assessment of Allardyce. It's a strange one because I think his football judgment is usually good. Allardyce will do well for England.

Rooney has about 30 caps to many in my opinion, he's been very much hit and miss at Utd in recent times, and very much miss at International level throughout his entire career for me when it mattered. I'm playing the ball not the man K-Hod, I've got a locker full of anti-Allardyce rhetoric, but I'm judging him on his England career in international week which is quite simply lost on you and a few others sadly.
oldjamfan1 Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 I'll judge Sam as England manager once I've seen us play a game or two under him. What he did at Rovers (or any other club for that matter) is history now.

He's not managed a game yet and you've done nothing but slag him. England have what looks like an easy World Cup qualifying group. If qualification is in jeopardy you can fill your boots. I don't see it happening though.

It seems to me you're doing the exact opposite and getting stuck into the man before his team's kicked a ball for him yet. Anyhow, I'll leave it there.

He's picked Rooney as captain, thats reason enough to call him into question, maybe you think Rooneys a good choice, maybe you don't really care, its just about results, but he had a chance to make his mark, put his stamp on things but he towed the party line. Not exactly slagging him off speedie, just trying to talk over his first big decision, but it'd be easier nailing custard to the ceiling.

Totally lost on me tbh. If you are playing the ball let Sams team at least kick one in a competitive match before judging. If not doing it already watch the Cricket now!
