[Archived] Transfers Part 2

I'm dismayed by the article today.

I've tried my best not to get on OC's back for anything but his own mistakes - telling the newspapers that they havent signed a contract is probably the stupidest thing he's done to date. Firstly, it benefits nobody except the players and their agents. Secondly, the club are obviously now trying to sell and thats the reason for the article, and how do we expect the fans to react to these two now on the pitch and on twitter?

In a normal scenario. i'd prefer us to keep all of our best players! I'd want to keep Duffy, but Marshall has been poor and I'd sooner see Mahoney given a chance over Marshall's ridiculously bad attitude and lack of effort. As for Duffy, (like both) i'd keep but what is the point if he is going to perform like he did past saturday?

Not frustrated by the chance of losing these - frustrated by the obvious touting done by Cringy Coyle. Shameful.

You gonna judge him before his ten games are up?

If so, welcome to the club! Clear he's just a Venky puppet who will say and do anything his masters require.

Nixon keeping up the act. Claims that we've now got a left back, centre back and midfielder all lined up who want to come. Now its a matter of sorting out deals with their clubs.

The whole problem here is that deals collapse when Venkys refuse to pay the money and refuse to sanction transfers. So Coyle can do all he likes and line up countless players but it won't mean they come.

Jerome must have et him up with some top players, couple of Paolo Jorge's and Nuno Henrique's

He seems to me like he really lacks sense and mettle. Two things I'd look for in a CB. He shows potential in glimpses but as time and performances have gone on, I won't miss him.

Marshall I like but again, very inconsistent. He's probably at the right level (although some of his wingback performances have been superb) and we were lucky to see FAR better players grace Ewood.

To be honest, I'm not interested in the team so much now. Even at this early stage, I honestly think we are doomed to relegation - there's too much wrong. I'm late on the bandwagon but since Lambert walked and the disgraceful non-communication from India, my patience has totally run out. Living in hope of change (under the V's) is pointless and I want to do all I can to rid Ewood of the owners and can now see the viewpoint of not caring at what level we fall to, it would be worth it to be free.

Under normal circumstances Duffy could be easily replaced by a decent manager and a modest outlay. He's been immense in odd games but mostly in his time here he's been distinctly average to poor and needs a decent head next to him pulling his strings.

But he's a work in progress and has potential someone like Dyche would harness as did Lambert a bit. Even though I'm not that struck on him replacing him with Brown or some cheap punt from abroad is terrifying.

Better the devil you know in this case but he's a goner anyway I think.

Doesn't benefit Rovers, the fans or the team. Doesn't benefit Coyle or his reputation. But does benefit these owners and their agenda.

Does anyone truly believe that they have been offered improved terms?

The players are probably performing poorly because they feel let down, betrayed and like the rest of us are sick and fed up of this club and the way it operates. They've seen Lambert replaced with Coyle, they've seen Rhodes, Cairney and Hanley sold off to rivals and not replaced, and now they're being advertised as the next available players in the Blackburn Rovers annual sales. Hardly surprising if their performances and attitude aren't 100%.

Don't accept it though JHR. The players are paid a handsome enough wedge to at least put 100% in.

Venky or crescendo puppet? Coyle is a symptom still and any protest aimed at him simply weakens the overall attempt.

The more I think about the Nuno Henrique's, etc the more I think there are issues re third party ownership and investment linked to betting. Wonder what odds you would have got on these no marks being signed by a prem club? Some serious money to be made in illegal asian markets.

The betting is peanuts compared to an agent putting players into a team who owns a % of. If 1 of those 6 kids had been a success, sold for a few million - it's basically a free million pound return on an investment. Add in the 10% for wages and transfer agent fees and you see what made our transfer decisions to some extent.

A few others - obviously "friends" in the right places to come here and "graze"...

Depends if you have a million quid riding on a 1000/1 shot making it into the prem, add in your a players agent and you've really stitched it up.

Hypothetically speaking, agent signs up Brazilian nobody for peanuts, part owns him and takes 10% of his earnings as his agent. Agent tells unscrupulous friends to bet on lad making it big. Agent then forces player into premier league team before being shipped out, with barely anyone noticing. You've got the whole ring sewn up there.

No doubt that some bets will go on, as it's an industry that hinges on inner knowledge but bookies won't allow big payouts like (I know it's extreme example) you say.

More likely - as you say, their mates will have bits on to go with. I worked as a bookie and believe me, the minute we saw a person winning regularly on things like that they had their bet limits reduced! Bookies don't lose money...

Coyle also made it clear in the LT article that they hadn't signed cos they wanted more money. Bit naughty that.

I have said many times that he gets carried away when there is a microphone about to satisfy his self serving ego. He is dangerous and I'm pretty sure his silly comments will only serve to strengthen the players resolve.

the more they talk the more they tie themselves in knots. Just a shame it's a presser not a interview with the Police.

I tell you what, I read Coyle's interviews and just think 'what a plank'. Sounds like he's pure blagging it.

When he talks about how fans have worked hard all week, and having a team representative of the fans, it's just drivel. It's bloody patronising, if anything.

At this level - decent RB, inconsistent winger, terrible number 10.

100% this.

No signing or departure will get me excited or disappointed. I'm prepared for relegation. This season already screams a cross of Bolton/Blackpool to me! (Blackpool - No players in PS) (Bolton - Skint).
