If the rumours are correct that Jordan Rhodes may be going out on loan after Xmas and Emnes may be going back to his parent club who would you like to see back at Ewood - Rhodes or Emnes ?

First time I've seen Emnes when he came on yesterday and I thought he was excellent. Gave a focus to our play and looked a real handful.

Emnes for me. He gives the attacking side of our game a focus. Something Rhodes never really did. Who would I rather play against as a player ? Rhodes- he's not going to run away from you and he won't knock you about.

Really grates with me this stock comment.

Everyone seems to think defenders 'want' to play against Rhodes. If he didn't keep scoring goals this would be a valid point but as the defenders' first mistake is usually punished they have to be on their mettle for the full 90 minutes. No, they may not be run ragged but they can't switch off or they concede.

That said I don't think it would be a good idea to bring him back. On purely football terms he's a gift at this level but too many fans who can't wait to stick the boot in on him to be proven right. Better that divisive players aren't involved. Same goes for Lowe - who contributes significantly less that the likes of Rhodes.

He's not even our player it he can still be the source is disagreement.

The question should simply discuss the merits of retaining Emnes. Personally I think he should stay.

There's no way Rhodes will be coming back here anyway. If he goes on loan it will be to someone challenging for promotion and someone will probably snap him up because his record in this league is superb.

You can bet the wee gem will come out with that comment sometime this week

I would look to sign Emnes permanent in January.

Rhodes was a good servant but we have move on from him and I very much doubt he would come back here

Emnes was excellent yesterday. His movement is very good and very clever player

I think he will go to Villa. Bruce has wanted him for ages

I'm not pretending everything in the garden is rosy but we've 4 strikers at present with goals in them. We had Rhodes/Rudy but virtually no back up which was a bit ridiculous then we had Rhodes with zero back up and that was pathetic.

Credit where it's due the recruitment in that area has been good, i'm a bit non plussed by Stokes but he's scored and if he's a replacement to Brown it's a no contest. They obviously need to keep that togetherness and organisation from yesterday otherwise it's back to square one. He needs to lay of the needless subs as well sod trying to keep people happy and in bonuses that was the downfall of the previous regime but one.

Unless of course they are on orders to do so.

The best thing for me would be beg to keep Emnes till summer.

Stokes is a really good player, he offers something very different and given the chance will do well IMO. Watched him loads for Celtic (part time TIM) and he's always been one who can change a game.

Yeah you're right Chaddy. He's out of our league financially now I'm afraid. He's got a bit of the Jordan Rhodes about him but with added pace.

Hill seems to have the ability to bring out the best in players that have either fallen by the wayside or are just coming up. Rochdale are in really good financial health for the first time in their existence thanks to him. The transfer fees and add ons he's brought to the club are very impressive. I see one of his signings, Craig Dawson, just played his 100 th game for WBA. He went to the school I worked at, a very nice unassuming lad.

One or two more of the young players there are being watched by the top sides.

My Dad is really good friends with the chief exec at Rochdale, Hogan is on massive money at Brentford, eye watering in fact.

What was Emnes' injury history like at Swansea? Was he out of the team so much due to injury or simply being deemed not good enough? I'm all for extending him until the end of the season as he adds a clever dynamic to our forward group. However, after an excellent first 7-8 games or so, he was fairly anonymous for a few games there that seem to have coincided with picking up a nagging injury. Sounds like he added a spark as a sub on Saturday, but there should be some caution about permanently signing a possibly injury-prone 28-year old.

Perhaps he can be bought on the cheap if he's out of favour with Swansea and is enjoying his time here, but he may ultimately be a luxury given I'd suspect our forward budget has largely already been spent on Graham and Stokes, at least for now... If that's the case, Graham+Stokes+a couple loans probably remains the "prudent" approach (at the risk of giving some credit to Coyle haha...)

Here's hoping we can hang on to both Gallagher and Emnes for the rest of the year at least. Gallagher may have gotten Southampton's attention again, but I suspect/hope they don't feel as in need of a spark upfront as much as Swansea might.

I think being anonymous for games at a time is a feature of Emnes career unfortunately, I've seen him described by Boro and Swansea fans as lazy quite often. He is definitely one of those players who if it isn't going right for him early on can drift out of games very easily. On his day he's a handful as he's a technically gifted footballer but I think on the days where it isn't going him he's somewhat of a luxury. He offers something very different to Graham and Gallagher but over a season I'd prefer those two as they will perform more consistently and if they aren't scoring can still have an effect on the game through their work rate. The decision on Emnes will all come down to wages and value for money.

More than Rhodes was on at Ewood ?

If he was a perfect striker he wouldn't be on loan at Rovers. You could make the same criticisms of Lukaku for instance and look what he's supposed to be worth.

Why one for me? Surely you mean one for Rovers?

We are after Giles Barnes and Ba that I know. Plus hopefully a right back?

But yet again the big question is will Venkys spend money and back Coyle?

Because you love a transfer rumour, Chadster.

Evidence ... not media or the fat haggis .

Proof that YOU ACTUALLY know or does this you wanting evidence only work one way ? Chaddys way

We all know even if the cashing in doesn't continue at the recent pace someone will still have to go before they bring anyone in. Most likely someone on 15k pwk with 5k going back into the budget as a saving and the rest either a couple of cheaper loan wages or one free permanent.

Any fee will be trouser'd that's how the downsizing seems to work.

I would happy to see us sign Emnes, Ba, and Barnes (who i have watched in the MLS and does look good). I would like to see us offload the likes of Jack Byrne, Adam Henley, Stephen Hendry and Akpan. Reduce the wage bill a bit and bring in that little bit more of quality. Promote Nyambe, Mahoney, Wharton
