Seriously, anyone who thinks that there will be some sort of spend on transfers in January, after all that has happened over the last 6 years, needs sectioning.

Correct. We had to sell 30 mill worth of players before we spent 250k.

Yes but remember that these billionaire owners never say no to signing a cheque......

I'm not expecting a penny spent on new players unless money is brought in first. Obviously Marshall is the favourite, but wouldn't surprise me if Lenihan is being primed for a sale.

January will be interesting. Most clubs in our predicament would see January as a perfect chance to make 3-4 additions that will rectify our problems and keep us up. This lot I think are just getting ready for the next batch of sales regardless of what's happening in the league.

Did we spent money on Bennett and Ward last January?

More establishment arse licking .. stop it and wake up and what's happening !

Funny how the 'spending' dried up as soon as the Bank of India asked for Venkys land as security against the money being lent.

It dried up the moment they arrived overall by selling all the top stars and replacing them With inferior players .

But we beat Newcastle away so everything is just grand. Love all the talk of signings in Jan flying about now, let's just see who departs first before Coyle brings in Barnes.

Quality not quantity remember

Quality is definitely something you don't associate with Owen Coyle. Quality will stay well clear of Owen.

it makes me chuckle on FB pages we have fans who genuinely think we are going for back for Rhodes in January, talk about being out of touch with the club reality

That's hilarious. We wouldn't be able to afford to pay 1% of his wages on a loan deal! 😂😂

Absolutely frightening isn't it. It's honestly incredible how out of touch with reality people are - sometimes I wonder how little I would know if I never went on BRFCC...

I wouldn't want Rhodes back in a relegation scrap anyway - he's a luxury for a team that can dominate a midfield. Says a lot when Boro are the lowest scoring side in the Prem and Karanka can't wait to get rid in January.

It does indeed. It suggests he should be putting him in the side or at the very least giving him the chance to show whether he can hack it at that level.

His goals kept us up that first season!

I'm certain Karanka knew he couldn't hack it at that level before he signed in Jan - there's no way Rhodes was his signing; he's the complete opposite of the striker he wants to play in his 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 formation. Hence Negredo signing and playing every game that he's available.

It was plain to see that even in the Championship he was often a passenger that we simply couldn't afford. In the Prem he'll be about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. It's not Rhodes fault, he's just not good enough to play Prem football.

I can't fault his lifestyle, professionalism and undoubted ability in front of goal; but I can point out that in the most part he's rubbish at football, bloody slow, poor back to goal and never really showed up in bigger games. Add to that a streak of laziness that he often tried to disguise by running at about 60% towards opposition defenders when they had the ball. No intention of trying to win it or tackle the defender, but it did fool half of Ewood in to thinking he worked hard.

Harsh but it's hard not to agree with that. His record at ' Boro isn't much to shout about. It's pretty obvious that he was signed over Karanka's head.

In my paper it says 'Boro want Gestede from Villa. He's another one who's not a Premier League player. Maybe they'll swap one for the other. Villa also are linked with Hogan from Brentford to replace Rudy. I know which of those three I'd like to see at Rovers.

Hogan?

He was a player I mention when Bowyer was appointed Permanent manager

Yeah, I think he's got more of what you need in this division. He's maybe not quite as deadly a finisher as Rhodes but he's quicker and puts himself about more. Rudy needs the service to thrive and he's another who only plays when he feels like it.

Of course we've no chance of signing any of those three.

His movement I think is quality and he took his 2 goals against us in great style
