Sad but true. Why even have an academy if we're not going to use the better products? Might as well loan him out to Cambridge too and have done with it.

Thought Venkys said they wanted to make use of the academy more, or did they mean to use it more for their Chicken business?

One of the many problems we have is that the scouting is terrible, probably due to chronic under resource and managements refusal to accept that there is another way to run a club than what we have now. When was the last time we went and bought someone who didn't come in via a dodgy agents DVD or someone the manager had come across before. We should be scouting and picking players up from the lower leagues but would seemingly keep the Premier League gravy train going by loaning their rejects instead. It's pathetic.

Unfortunately I suspect that's been the 'plan' from those in power since the moment the summer window closed with Marshall still at the club. Not a surprise, completely expected and exactly what they've been working towards for months.

Only question is what day between tomorrow and next week he goes and if (big if) they release a few quid for a loan signing.

We need more than one signing. We need 4

Thought I'd read Senior Coyle was running the due diligence over a few possible signings. But they did cover themselves with the "if we don't get anyone in we'll be fine".

Well done, they read this forum and you've just given them a damn good idea - just think how many chickens you could rear up at Brockhall.

The predominantly good thing about Bowyer was his use of his dad and the remaining Rovers staff's knowledge of younger players from the academy days.

I agree in principle, but Slew wasn't from the academy. Bought under Kean's regime from Sheffield U for a million or so.

Well, when I say Academy product I think exactly the same applies to young players we may have signed. Blackman never got a chance either.

I also think it's ludicrous by any measure we're sending Wharton out on loan and signing players like Wes Brown.

Agree however I'm sort of glad he is away from the circus at Ewood.

Exactly. We could sign Messi and I wouldn't trust Owen Clown to get any sort of tune out of him. He can't win football matches and doesn't seem too fussed about it either.

Ironically discovered by a certain Mr Steve Kean.

Owen would try him at left back to prove what a visionary he really is.

I'm confused, do we need three players in or will 'we be fine'. Mixed messages from our leader this morning.

Likewise I am perplexed by his about turn after his comments last week.

It doesn't seem all is well with Coil. Could it be a 'Senior' moment!

If Senior really believes he has been brought in for the good of the club and if he wants to make a success of his role (which most normal people would) and if he has the power then first on the list must be remove the lame duck manager.

Nothing adds up in Venky land, I give up trying to make sense of it all.

My initial opinion is that Senior hasn't been appointed by these owners. At least not to improve our fortunes on the pitch and with authority over the operation.

It just doesn't add up.

His claim that he's met the owners 'on the circuit' numerous times at games I'm sure cannot be completely accurate, as we all know that they haven't been going to games now for three or four years. Mrs Desai has only ever been to about 2 games. Back when they were coming to the UK and going to games Senior would have been a mere scout at one of numerous London clubs, so why he would be meeting with and speaking to the owners of Blackburn Rovers in that capacity?

They've been here more than 6 years and refused to even entertain the prospect of appointing someone based in the UK with authority over football matters, so the chances of Senior suddenly being trusted to make any major decisions are very slim. More likely he's been appointed as a 'specialist' in moving players around and maximising the return Venkys get on sales and minimising losses. Could it be that they are miffed that Ben Marshall looks set to leave for next to nothing and have appointed this bloke to ensure no more 'star' players leave for low fees? In their warped world they were probably expecting a Cairney or Hanley level of return on Marshall so when he either walks away for nothing or for a bid of £500k maximum later this month that's another gap in their forecasts.

It sounds to me like Pasha has appointed this bloke. Possibly to deliver his 'expertise' in maximising returns on players, handling players and agents etc. Take the workload and heat off Pasha for a while. He might have had a phone call with Balaji but I doubt very much he's having the daily conversations with the owners he claims. If he is having daily conversations with India he must be getting the message already that the situation is unworkable.

Something very fishy with the whole thing. As mentioned, there are two things a Director of Football would do at this point with the club heading for relegation - either change manager or sanction some signings to add to the squad, or ideally both. Sitting in his office 'assessing' things won't get us out of this position.

I cringe at the thought of the guff that Coyle comes out with in front of the players. He can't even stick to the same story a few days apart talking to a reporter, in fact it is the polar opposite to what he said about not needing players.

He lies so often I can't actually decide if he has always believed he would get any funds from the owners or not?

Maybe that was a freudian slip :-)

Bolton appointed Birch so this guy Venkys being Venkys will be a cheaper version. He's already mentioned Admin when no one else has so it could be his job is to avoid that with maybe a minimal contribution from the owners.

Funny how SKY kept telling everyone Vs put in 30 mill a season to keep us afloat then our own new DOF tells us it's 10. More lies purposely fed to the outside world via Sky just like the cover up of the real situation at Rovers continues to be kept out the national media. The Vll accs tell us they put in about 7 mill last year although they may have written off 3 mill for something as well. This year it's likely to be less so basically they are keeping us one step from admin but now mainly from players sales and downscale.

There WILL have to be another large contribution from them to keep things going as they are in the next 12/18 months or a massive scale down in summer to put all regular costs in line with income. Still doesn't solve all the wages and outgoings the corrupt miss handling of the club in previous years that could go on for seasons yet to pay it all off.

Over to you Mr Senior.

Just a theory but!:

Venkys appoint Pasha a few months ago

SEM appoint Senior last month

Maybe we are co-owned and each party doesn't trust the other and requires a power battle and a stooge. Would be odd to make two appointments for a club battling and cutting costs left right and centre.

I've said all along he will be redundant in March when we go into administration, he is here simply to squeeze the last pips and move anyone he can for those last pennies.
