The facts (so far) are indisputable. With him in the side we were generally mid table or slightly better. Without him we've been in the bottom 3 all season.

The facts are we've consistently sold off every decent player from the departure of Cairney onwards.

So of course the team's trajectory is downwards (espcially with Owen fecking Coyle in the dugout)

I'd be surprised if there was any more incoming business before the close of play today.

In theory we should be at an advantage to some clubs because we haven't got a game tonight to prepare for so Coyle and the rest of the staff should be able to spend their afternoon and evening getting business done whilst rivals have games to play.

Then I woke up.

Emnes' return, whilst welcome, is not a 'new signing' but merely getting him back after a patchy first half of the season. He's undoubtedly got ability, but getting it out of him regularly and getting him to a stage where he can play for more than 30 minutes in a game is the problem. His best role is to be brought on with 20-30 minutes left if we're ahead in a game to replace a tiring Graham and to send the ball up to as an outlet when defending and let him relieve the pressure.

Joao is obviously a Paul Senior signing. I don't believe Coyle's claims that he's been after him before. I think and hope that he will turn out to be alright, but feel that a 5th forward, or even 4th if Stokes is moved on, is the least of our worries at this moment.

I'd have liked another centre half, central midfielder and possibly a right back as priorities but it looks like we aren't going to be able to get those unless they sell Marshall, which is becoming less likely by the looks of things.

Lol. You're arguing against yourself den. When people used to point out Rhodes scored goals you would say the game is about so much more than just goal scoring. The facts (so far) are indisputable. With him in the side we were generally mid table or slightly better. Without him we've been in the bottom 3 all season.

It's irrelevant we're scoring similar numbers of goals without him. If we were scoring seven goals a game but conceding eight, that wouldn't cut it either.

You're unbelievable sometimes Rev.

A strikers game IS so much more than just scoring goals, you're right. That's why he's not playing anywhere - and it's quite obvious that we are in the bottom three because the owners have sold every player worth anything at all, reinvested nothing and employed Coyle.

I said that before.

Good grief Rev

With that logic you could argue we were a better team with Leon Best.  We were mid table with him, now we are bottom 3!

We've butted heads in the past about Rhodes but I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong.

Rhodes is a top-class finisher. You couldn't wish for a better poacher in the box, but the modern forward has to be able to do more than just score goals. He has to be a complete player who can lead the line and provide an attacking outlet. Rhodes offered none of that.

I would disagree.

I would suggest his record for Rovers against top Championship sides and PL sides (cup games) is a tad sketchy.  I would question his bottle.  In cricketing parlance, I think he's a 'flat track bully'.

Bet this bit of transfer business will cause some bother in Bristol!

In all seriousness this is the sort of business a club like Rovers should be looking to do. Scouring Leagues One and Two for quality and adding them to our squad. He's a good age with an excellent goalscoring record.

Shame Venkys won't allow even a small fraction of the £30 million to be reinvested, because I'm sure someone like this would be a better investment than Anthony Stokes, Wes Brown or Liam Feeney.

You're the one who's been sussed den. You argued for years until you were Blue in the face we'd be better off without him. Well we did sell him, we're second bottom and we look like we're going down.

The counter argument was always that if he was sold either the money wouldn't be reinvested or even if it was that any replacements might not come off.

We're not where we are because we sold Rhodes! Jesus, give me strength.

Played when the overall squad was in the process of down grading so naturally the TEAM  generally struggled against better sides. Unless of course Rhodes was responsible for all ills which seems more the theme as time passes.

Played when we had the likes of Gestede, Cairney, Marshall, Conway etc.

With the players at Bowyer's disposal, we should have been at least top 6.

I think Bowyer and the so called stars bottled it.

So Emnes has returned (who largely flattered to deceive first time around) based on the cheap wages he's on, and Joao comes in on loan, dressed up as a view to buy. Let's be honest, we're giving game time to a Sheffield Wednesday player only to send him back. And Venky's are "committed to getting us back to the Premier League". We are being ran like a League 2 side, which is particularly prophetic of our 'owners'. What a shambles.

Thanks for reminding me re Bowyer. How could I possibly forget Mr. Boring. We were still down grading though and its an ongoing process.

If Stokes goes and we are still paying a chunk of his wages and Marshall doesn't go and we will pay his full wages I reckon that will be between £30k and £40k each week for absolutely nothing.

Nothing whatsoever has been learned since they rocked up.

Wolves move for Ben Marshall threatening to be a late one. Blackburn still haggling over price. And remember its's about 8.30 pm in India...

My money is on Lambert winning this one hands down.

In the words of Forrest Gump 'stupid is as stupid does'.

I hope Lambert royally screws Venky's.  Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Doesn't matter what time it is in India.  Pasha or Senior will have instructions:

Hold out until the last possible moment then sell for as much as you can get, then make sure you trash the fax machine!!!

If you can get them in you've got to get them in says Coyle.  In Indian it means if you can window dress then window dress.

We are desperate for bodies and one has already been on a cheap deal so a bit of begging and maybe promising games gets him back. The new SD goes back to his old mates and says we'll give your lad some game time if you pay 75% of his wages so that goes through.

There's nothing like a strategic plan to put a side together to avoid relegation really is there its just we need bodies as cheap as poss who are willing to come and these two fit that.
