That does appear to be the plan PB.

I was chatting with Bob Coar and he confirmed that the V's are putting £2M into the Academy every year. If we get a couple of decent ones breaking into the 1st team (you are far closer to the quality and potential than I am PB) and if you sell one for £5M every couple of years then the Academy starts to pay for itself; this is exactly the plan at Fleetwood Town with their investment in their new Academy.

This helps towards the Club paying for itself on a day-to-day basis but it does not answer the need for: investment; infrastructure; and a strategy to build and grow. It is a safety first strategy of lower and non-league teams. It is also the plan that Chorley FC are looking to adopt.

It is called dumbing down, where investment has to come from within. Sadly the other income streams of corporate sales and sponsorship, match income and TV deals are continuing downwards.

This may be an understatement but the future is looking a wee bit uncertain for Blackburn Rovers.

I think I would agree with all of that. As you say, the Academy side of things seems to be working and there are a number of young lads - Wharton, Platt, Doyle, Hardcastle, Tomlinson, Rankin-Costello, Askew, Mols etc. who are worth keeping an eye on. However, as you say, whilst that strategy will keep the Academy going, indeed it was the strategy which Jack Walker had when the Academy was initially set up. The plan then was to sell lads who didn't make the Premier League grade to Football League clubs, but when the Football League's TV deal collapsed that plan went out of the window. The inability of those at Ewood to get corporate sales and sponsorship right is a major problem, but the lack of investment in the senior team can ultimately lead only one way.

so are venkys imbeciles ? yes or no

The fact that they run successful businesses in other parts of the world would suggest not. Do they know how to run a football club - obviously not. They won't be the first, or the last, successful business people to buy a business they don't understand and watch it collapse.

They may not be imbeciles for buying it but they are for doing the same rubbish and somehow expecting the business not to fail. You would think if they're not daft they'd have an exit strategy. If these sales are the start of it then let's just hope it's short term

When will the club make a single decision with the fans as the number one priority?

It's no use Cheston complaining at fans walking away when they are being treated like fools.

We've sold Hanley but we've moved the cameras. We've made Lowe captain but there's a £10 voucher off kits. We've just chosen the worst possible manager who was 5th out of a shortlist of four but we've signed Danny Graham. We've @#/? a stand but sold it as a positive. We are adding to the debt every season and despite selling players and not spending, it's not getting any smaller. We have the worst owners in football but we've managed the media so nobody but Rovers fans will ever know. We have created a club of one that is concerned by FFP but... nope we're all out of 'positives'.

Nailed it Stuart great post. One feels as though if it was not us, Blackburn Rovers, that this happened to there would be a media uproar, ok bit strong, but for sure more interest. Short of an eccentric oil Sheik who might shell out upwards of 50 mol for us I just don't know how we get rid of them before they extinct our football club.

I just can not get my head around why they won't give it a right good go to get in the prem. w seasons there and all their troubles are over. Their chicken gets the exposure, they get cash in their pockets and maybe some fans come back.

I firmly believe in my heart of hearts they are out to recoups as much as possible and close the doors. The final slap in the face to us fans who have sooooo disrespected their superior collective arses.

The academy has always cost around that to run going back to when Williams said sometimes he thought it might be better invested in the first team, of course it was all about staying in the Prem then first and foremost.

Thing is this 2 mill a year isn't exclusive to the Vs time here it's part and parcel of this club. Only credit if you can call it that is that they haven't shut it down but that's it. It's an integral part of the club and has been for years and in fairness has turned out players. We've had enough income from Prem then parachute money and player sales since the Vs pitched up to continue paying for the academy.

They get credit for nothing except not actually closing everything down yet. It should be renamed The Jack Walker Blackburn Rovers Academy. Screw Robert Coar and screw Venkys !

Coyle is acting as a salesman for Venky's. His comment on Newcastle of "something is only worth what somebody is willing to pay... that is correct if you're trying to sell something... we are not trying to sell" was not prompted by the journalist and is a great way to encourage higher offers. A simple "not for sale" as somebody mentioned is the right answer if you do not want to sell.

We're screwed from all sides.

Was it Everton who used to scout on fm?

Yeah, but I think a lot of clubs use the database as it's one of the most extensive scouting networks in the world. Of course, they don't get everything right but a good few gems on the game have ended up doing well in real life.

Liverpool are said to be looking to sign a centre back due to Skrtel transfer and Joe Gomez injury. Unlikely to loan one out I would think. Pity he has a good reputation.

He will probably be loaned out again this season, because he is surplus to requirements at the moment. If he becomes required, he will be recalled to Liverpool.

Could this be start of Venky's exit strategy?

We have received circa £30 million in transfer fees/sell on clauses in the last 12 months, very little spent on the playing squad with almost all of it used to bring down the debt with the state bank of India which Venky's have liability for. Maybe they are bring down that debt to a level as much as they can from existing assets (playing squad) once they have sold all of those assets they begin the process of selling the club.

Partially, perhaps. We must understand, and I predicted an asset stripping scenario some years back, they will not stop with the playing staff.

They will squeeze every last penny out of us before we fold. Ewood, Brockhall and all associated assets, anything that can be sold will be sold. These are despicable sorry excuses for human beings, arrogant beyond belief and so far up their own arses the can see daylight when they yawn. Melidramatic, perhaps, but I see nothing but the very worst from this shower of @#/?. This whole thing has stunk to high heaven since day one, Anderson, Kean, Williams and Finn, BFS it's been a crooked venture from the beginning and is continuing with the placement of Coyle. My gut feel, just my gut feel, is that he is clued in through his ties with the agency he has never heard of. Just his very appointment sent alarm bells clanging. From nowhere he comes. It is my view he was approached by the unknown agency long before we had any idea, i's were dotted and t's were crossed, his role clearly defined to him and he bought into it the rest is history.

I don't have a clue how but we need a hero, a real hero, either a genius with a simple plan or a simple man with a genius plan. Someone, a person or persons unknown must pull the right card that brings the whole house of cards tumbling.

We my fellow fans are in imminent danger of losing our club, the club whose crest is tattoed on my chest. The club we have loved since we chose them or they chose us. Seems strage that with our extinction looming on the horizon we are so bitterly split on here, boycott, don't boycott, he said this she said that, oh no I didn't oh yes you did, bit pathetic really.

What do we do, I have no idea, but whatever it is it must be as one.

Sorry for the verbal squirts and in the wrong thread but I had to get it off me chest.

Screw the.Venks screw Coyle, screw Kean and Anderson, back the badge, back the shirt, support the name, let our history bring tears to your eyes save my.Football team

But who is going to buy the club when the current owners have sold the best players?

makes it less valuable to sell surely?

Plus why ignore the Seneca's bid? and denial they was an approach to buy the club. But I have noticed that Seneca haven't make any public comments about their bid aswell.

I wouldn't be surprise if they are looking to reduce the debt whilst looking to run the club minimal money and the club having to be self sufficent

They are not looking to sell the club, they are just parting it out like a junk car, sell whats valuable throw away the rest and forget about it.

i see Big head is over the moon at joining Newcastle. I hope he had something nice to say about Rovers

Why? sems like most fans have nowt nice to say and the ones that do are insulted so why should an ex player.
