Giles Barnes says he was close to joining us before the deal fell through, "for some reason" it didn't happen

There's a name that inspires . He was once a promising player, but spent most of his early career injured at Derby. I suppose Dunn did need replacing, but not in that way.

Don't know why the prospect of a PL loanee is so exciting. Let's face facts, the only loanees we are likely to get are the type who are deemed not good enough so the PL club are running their contracts down by loaning them out. If they were any good they would be pushing for a first team place or be loaned to a club which is likely to be successful. There are far more Todd Kanes out there than David Beckhams.

Or Harry Kanes.

The only hope is that Coyle can show a history of taking on loanees and making the ready for their parent club's first team.

Bit late though. Also the emergency loan window isn't available this season so this transfer window is critical. Makes me laugh that the football authorities think it's uncompetitive to have the emergency loan window yet still allow certain teams to spend what they like. What cash are Brighton using?

Fair play to the ones on here who flagged his name up when fat Red Top was waxing about a top striker coming. Anyone who gets carried away with Nixon needs to keep this in mind.

Some of the things he said were laughable; pacey crowd pleaser.

The interactions with Barnes and clownpants junior on Twitter made it clear something was going to happen. Jobs for the boys.

The owners are probably holding out for the season to start so unattached players are more desperate and will accept less money!

Possibly, but that then swings back towards the players if they know you are desperate for bodies and only have a few days of the window left.

We'll support whoever turns up, but its worrying that we are so reliant on loanees and cast-offs - and whilst you may find the occasional gem, the likelihood is the overall quality will be reduced.

Didn't Tom break that Coyle Jnr was courting him on Twitter?

We'll have to start calling him Ticko... but not in an Irish accent!

Edit: just seen your post Ticko. :)

See Bristol City have landed Tammy Abraham on loan. We should have been all over that.

Scored today. Looks like other teams know how to improve.

Looks like Big Mick has got himself another gem at Ipswich, young lad from Spurs, Ward ? scored a hat trick off the bench.

Graham was banging them in pre season though, so who got the better deal?

To be fair he has constantly always spotted talent.

With the lack of a left back in mind, why the F*** haven't we been in for Nicolai Boilesen? Capped for Denmark, former Ajax captain, currently without a club.

Represented by the wrong people, perhaps?

Probably because he is not Irish or Scottish. He loves the Caledonian players does Coyley.

Played a blinding second half when he came on apparently.

Another one I suggested weeks back and I know little about football outside rovers these days, wonder if we even ever looked!

Just seen the goals. I managed a Sunday league team and I'm not sure we ever defended that badly. The lack of pressing was embarrassing. They were allowed all the time in the world to walk through the middle of our defence.

They had a good laugh in training with Coyley though. Much better than under that other dour @#/?, really makes the lads want to play for the wee man.

Oh, wait...
