From Paul Wheelock

As reported this morning, #rovers are attempting to sign Southampton striker Sam Gallagher on loan.

Paul's on the ball as always...

Only ever reports what others report first! What kind of journo is he? Even Cryer got the occasional scoop!

This idea that some people have that Coyle goes after loan targets in nonsense. PL clubs circulate lists of players who are available for loan and the % wages they will pay. That and that alone will dictate who we get.

I saw Gallagher a few times for MK Franchise FC and he was average at best.

Is SG any good?

I know next to nothing about him.

Rated at Southampton. Went to MK. His dad died and he struggled to cope with it. Didn't score any goals. Manager said it effected his performance.

He got the the job reporting on rover's by default or whatever when a rover's fan on the LT was overlooked

Can we clarify as well, we are loaning a young striker from a premier league club.

We are not loaning a premier league striker.

Exactly right. In a relegation dog fight we are going to need some experienced pros rather than youngsters learning their trade in the hope they improve sufficiently to win a place in their own club's first team squad.

Signing Sam Gallagher just shows no one wants to come here. We need players who will make a difference, not some kid who couldnt hack it last season.

I'm trying to keep Coyle seperate from my current feelings but moves like this are not going to help... @#/? garbage

I don't blame Coyle because any manager who comes here at the moment is going to have to scratch around for players. Players who've been released and youngsters learning their trade is the market we are in - sadly.

Don't worry Jamie McConnel will confirm it soon, no idea why anyone believes that guy, one of the most blatant fake journo accounts around

Sounds like the rest of the transfer policy this summer for the last 3 years tom.

Fixed mate.

Amazes me when fans agree with this logic though.

Why spend money we don't have on players we don't need - just because they are available? It's backwards logic and why we have 17 wingers.

It's the market Venkys are putting us in. It's the market we would be in without them.

The only way Venkys are any use to us is to pay for players who will improve what we have. Our transfer policy this last 3 years has been to buy players who will support the dross in the first XI. When we sell a player they are then promoted beyond their abilities and we buy replacements to support them. This cycle sees us fall further and further every season.

I seem to recall Coyle saying he only wants to bring in players that improve us though mate. Is a young lad with no recent proven track record going to improve us? 0 or 1 goal for MK Dons last season was it?

It's a totaly stab in the dark, clutching at straws effort from a man who must not know exactly what we need.

Coyle just an ineffectual puppet looking for scraps.

There are other youth products WITH pace from other prem clubs though. Coyle either doesnt see pace as a problem up top or simply cant get anyone with pace to join so has taken a total gamble on this lad. He's simply not what we need.

I can't argue with that. It simply confirms he's a rotten choice they've made again.

Agreed.

Also, one of a number of illiterate so called writers / journos who can't differentiate between their / there, to / too and have / of. Our education system has much to answer for.

Another problem is that Premier League clubs tend to want a fee to loan decent players and I'm not sure we are in a position to do even that at the moment.

Fair point. Can you imagine their reaction? "You want us to pay a fee for player that isn't ours? No no no Mr Coyle."

GK, RB, LB, CB, CM and at least one CF needed by the end of the month. Can see us getting perhaps two more in (including Gallagher). Will that be enough? Not a chance.

And all need to be BETTER than what we have.

No chance.
