Who would you suggest? We are really short on senior players never mind leaders.

Don't think Duffy should be ahead of Lowe? Also Greer has plenty of experience of captaining teams.

I'd even have Graham as captain instead of Lowe and I'm usually against forwards being given the task.

As others have said, the owners are quick to let people leave, be it for a fee, released or on loan. Incomings though? We'll get back to you in three months time with a no unless it's a free transfer or a loan with ridiculously low wages.

Always seem to ok the merry go round of coaches and non important men in suites though yet don't answer the phone for signing players or bringing in qualified directors.

All rather strange, almost as if someone else is running it !

Duffy could be gone if rumours are true, graham and Greer have been here 2 minutes.

One thing Lowe has going for him as captain is he us genuinely going to put the effort in for the club.

He looked completely lost on Saturday.

Duffy isn't gone, Greer is capable, Graham has been here since January.

Edit: Duffy going is unthinkable. From worse to worse...

Unthinkable indeed and if the armband would keep him I'd consider him a better choice than Lowe.

The original point though was we are seriously short of options. We don't know the personalities also which is important!

John O'Sullivan goes back to Accy til January 7th!

He should be playing for us versus Mansfield rather than playing for Stanley.

We need the next 5 younger players to step forward not move off.

Waiting for the next 2 Scottish players to join us this week as we complete the transformation to Raith Rovers(att. 2670)

I suspect Lowe is quite passionate behind the scenes due to his background at the club. The problem is he looked completely lost on Saturday, in the first half we were sat near to where he was playing and apart from the armband you wouldn't have known he was captain. He only shouted at someone once that I saw, and that led to an embarassing cock up which could have led to a real goal threat.

Coyle is unsure or he'd commit fully to him being captain for the season.

“We’ve not made a big song and dance about it. Jason has done a very good job but within that I do believe we have leadership qualities in a host of players. Shane Duffy springs to mind as well.

That’s an ongoing process but what I do know is I’ve got players who want to be at Blackburn Rovers, and who love the club, and that’s always a great thing to have.”

Coyle continued: “Who wears the armband is important but when I played, going back a few years now and a few generations, we had six or seven players who were all captains on the pitch. That’s what I want to have at Blackburn Rovers.

“Whoever wears the armband will be the captain for the team on the day. Jason Lowe has done very well in that respect. He’s very respected by his peers. He’s a leader.

“Captains come in all shapes and forms. Some are very vocal, some do it by example. There are all different ways to do it."

Do the other players respect lowe?

I seem to remember an incident last season where Jason did something rather rash and got a rollicking from one of the centre backs

I think he's a chancer. I wouldn't respect him as my captain.

If we keep him as captain I think that's got to be worth the loss of a few good points

Jason Lowe as a leader?

He couldn't lead me around tesco let alone on a football pitch.

For me, a captain should be leading by example on the pitch. If things are getting tough, he sticks a crunching tackle in and demands you do the same but at the same time, doesn't really need to tell you to do it, because of the presence the captain brings it just spurs you on to do the same without even thinking about it.

Lowe can shout and point all he wants, doesn't make him a captain.

  • Backroom

Whilst not really good enough the fact remains that his departure further weakens the first team squad in terms of numbers and back up players.

Seems illogical especially when we will probably play a weakened team tomorrow - although I wouldn't

It night be a requirement to get one body out before we can get another body in

He got four crunching tackles in on Olsson

Lowe can shout and point all he wants, doesn't make him a captain. No Coyle does

Empty words, at the moment. This can be seen along with previous quotes: "wanting to bring pride back to the supporters and have an exciting team on the field."

I know Jason gives maximum effort, that's never been in question. He's just not good enough.

Celtic's Gary MacKay Steven , Linked to Rovers on loan

Injured apparently, according to multiple reports and his own twitter - didn't know who he was so had to Google and that's what came up.

So this one's probably nailed on then. Our Wes needs a bit of company in the treatment room (I'm assuming he's still here)

Lowe wouldn't even be on the pitch if it were me, but I'd argue that we don't have anybody on our books who fits the above bill. Perhaps Greer, but we'll probably be lucky to get 20 games out of him given his age.
