There was definite optimism from the fans when they appointed Lambert. It was short lived.

Nixon was shouting about January warchests on Twitter and Radio Lancashire when we got Lambert in.

Coyle now after "2 or 3 players". We've gone from "5 or 6" to "3" to "2 or 3". Clear why Lambert left.

very true.

Its clearly an ever changing picture behind the scenes. Coyle probably thought when he got the job he'd be given free reign to rebuild the squad to his liking, within certain financial parameters. His hot air about Grant Hanley gave the impression of a manager who thought he was in control of transfers in and out of the club. Then a week later his story changed from him deciding what was an acceptable bid to him merely advising and offering his opinion. Then when Hanley was sold from under his feet by the pondlife he had to backtrack as the accepted bid wasn't too far off the £4.5 million that Coyle had criticised a week earlier.

He probably then thought that with a few quid in the bank that he'd have more leeway to strengthen, when infact the reverse has happened and crucial weeks have gone by with zero positive transfer activity. Welcome to the madhouse Owen! Here's why Paul Lambert walked out and you were the 'best candidate' for the job. A.K.A. the cheapest and most willing to put up with this rubbish without walking out.

Lambert's resignation must have been very irritating for the people behind the scenes running this club into the ground. Just imagine a member of staff having the audacity to demand communication and money and then resigning! They much prefer the sort who put up with whatever they throw at them and cling on for dear life. I bet the people behind the scenes who have the power (Venkys?) were looking forward to an easy summer of cashing in on some players to pay their debts and cover their losses, so having to waste their time with an irritating managerial search and sanction his appointment must have taken up about 30 minutes of someone's time somewhere.

I agree with what you have said in your post.

Alan Nixon's comments on BBC Radio Lancs tonight Sport show reveal a little more into the behind the scenes

Coyle said he wants a left back, centre back and striker. If he doesn't sign a right back and central midfielder as well, and thinks our current ones are good enough, we are in even deeper trouble than I thought.

Maybe that's all we can afford in the budget Coyle get?

maybe a factor is Venkys not sticking to agreed budget

We've had a lad called Josh Powell on trial all pre-season turning out for the Under-21/Under-23 team. I expect that he will sign as he has looked very good in pre-season games.

Can I asked what impress you about this keeper Josh Powell?

Maybe Lambert was promised this but the owners get cold feet as they do all the time.

Maybe Venkys don't stick the budget they agree at the start of transfer window and keep changing their mind. Did that to Bowyer in his first transfer window as permanent manager

What annoys me most about the transfer situation is if they are no so unwilling to spend any money then why sack Gaz and show obvious intent with the appointment of Lambert last season? May as well have kept Gaz who was a far better 'on a shoestring' manager than Coyle!

Venkys and their advisors clearly thought Lambert will get higher than he did, maybe top 10.

Did the owners ever read Lambert short term and Long term plans for the club? Lambert said he had give his plans to their Middle man(Pasha). Did he pass them on?

Didn't Pasha recommend sacking Bowyer and his coaching team to the owners?

Wasn't it Myers who got in contact with Lambert's agent?

Why is no one saying whats going on at Ewood? Myers, Lambert, GB, Kelly, Irvine...all been quiet....in My view poor.

Didnt Lambert make comments about why he was leaving?

Bowyer never said much. But did say we are great club with great fans. He got a very good reception from the fans at the friendly game at Blackpool

Classy way to go. Your hardly going to shove it up them in your resignation letter.

I've just resigned from a major PLC to join another world wide PLC, even though i hated working for my existing employers and they made my job very hard purposely i still resigned thanking them for the "opportunity".

Cheers.

States our budget is currently about £15 million including wages. As a comparison Norwich is £75 million.

Combined wages of the 6 new signings is about £50k a week. Wage bill is therefore reducing - cannot understand why Venkys won't step up to the plate and invest properly.

Very critical of Venkys - either start putting some money in / running club properly or sell up. Refers to the offer of sharing from Seneca that they weren't interested in.

Warned Coyle before he took the job that it was 'an impossible job.'

Lambert 'ran away from this job'. He was right to request the investment due to how poor the squad is but was over ambitious in terms of the money he wanted.

Coyle was too loyal in his selection on Saturday to a couple of existing squad

Always talks sense when he's put on the spot just a pity he talks so much douche in his columns. Don't know whether there is a bit of i'll pretend to sympathise to get the masses on side or not but I suppose his connections have gone up tenfold again with mates inside the club.

They should get him asking questions to Cheston etc in a public debate seeing as he's quite ITK.

Will he take the place of Steele though, or just be a second/third choice?

I suspect he will be the replacement for Simon Eastwood and Ryan Crump. Gives us Steele, Raya, Powell and Fisher as senior goalkeepers with Ascroft and Campbell for the Academy.
