What come and get Hanley messages? He said that he doesnt want to sell him. What more do you want? Blood or something.

On Duffy and Marshall being offer new cotracts. He wants to keep both. I make Duffy new captain this season if Hanley leaves. They both should have been offered new contracts last summer.

What he says and what he really says are 2 very different things. He knows that none of it is his choice. It's up to the owners and if the bids get high enough Hanley will go and so may at least one oof the others. He can want whatever it wants, it's not his choice. So when he says I don't want to lose Hanley all I am hearing is the big but that follows it

No, I expected someone worse so wasn't quite as angry as everyone else seemed to be. I honestly expected them to appoint a youth coach from somewhere. I hadn't a problem with his previous appointments but I do have a problem with his record post-Burnley. I thought he had a lot to prove then and a lot to prove now.

I just can't see him being a success here, most managers would struggle never mind a manager with a poor record.

I still say if he managed to get us somehow promoted it'd be hilarious. Our six fingered friends down the road will be foaming at the mouth if judas took us to the promised land. I acknowledge I'm dreaming big there though.

They couldn't have picked many worse. Who'd be on your list?

Keep dreaming. It's easier and more joyful than any reality or future.

Jesus H. What next? Venkys bought some new light bulbs so has anyone changed their opinion on them? Mind boggling

Exactly.

There is the season videos from 91/92 92/93 93/94 94/95, which now watching on blurry old video is a bit like a dream.

Do I really need to name names? We're talking Venkys now. It could have been anyone from the guy who sells Hot Dogs in the Riverside to Balaji's son. I expected either a youth team coach from somewhere with no managerial record to speak of or someone with barely any experience like Dickov or Dunn.

No but irrespective who the manager is, we'd still be doomed to fail with what prevails behind the scenes.

Any club that treats its supporters and customers with such disdain will reap what they sow. Why our Rovers?

I'm letting the Burnley thing slide until I see the results under him. If the results are great then we've got one over on em...but if the results are crap then it's just another embarrassing tale of Blackburn Rovers. It's just going to make it that extra bit harder to chew if we are dreadful under him. That's what is worrying me.

Do you think any sales will be down to the manager or the owners?

Ultimately the owners (as usual). But the Rhodes saga is maybe informative. He could have been sold earlier than he was (Hull?) but when Rhodes was adamant that he wanted to go....and Lambert didn't put his foot down - he was sold for a good price.

I hope the owners resist selling Hanley....even for a good price......he is getting better and plays an essential role as a leader. Coyle has made it clear that he doesn't want to sell so we shall have to wait and see how it develops.

As much as I'm glad Coyle wanted Graham to stay, I think it's notable that Graham himself credited the fans as the reason he signed on rather than the manager.

Blackburn Rovers striker Danny Graham has said the attention of manager Owen Coyle was a key factor in his return to the Championship.

"He's constantly been on the phone ringing me asking what is happening," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"It's nice to have that as a player and someone wanting you that much.”

Ha, shows what bits of the radio get through to me :P I heard more prominently his talk of feeling wanted by the fans and hearing his name sang (as opposed to at Sunderland). Perhaps Coyle added to that feeling.

if rovers had appointed dyche as the next manager would the bumley thing matter so much,or even howe?i know the scenirio would be unlikely but stranger things have happened.

But we didn't so that is hypothetical. It's as much the fact Coyle is useless as he had a season in the sun down the road. The thought of him wearing Rovers gear is enough to make me retch.

I hear Owen Coyle has put in a verbal request to Cheston to have them fitted. Cheston has sent the pigeon to Pune but sadly it's another religious holiday over there so we don't expect an answer until September. So until then the gym is shut. Even during the day light hours I'm afraid. Because we're still waiting to get the nod from India to open the curtains. The only good thing is SEM have offered to open the curtains for a small £2m commission and Chris Brown is hoping to get a new contract to fit the light bulbs.

wouldn't jerome anderson have to be present to fix the bulbs along with browny? it'd be an overnight job

He might even need his own office again Lewis. These small jobs often spiral out of control. It's why you should always employ a specialist.

When Coyle was first appointed I like many was completely against the appointment and was immediately regretting renewing my season ticket. However, I'm definitely warming to him a bit more now. I don't blame Lambert for leaving but it's good in a way we Atleast have someone in charge now who is willing to work with f**k all money wise and has managed to bring in a few good players so far. Many of us didn't expect him to be able to get Graham back and I think some definitely underestimate how good of a pull that was for us, we will be heavily relying on him to get the bulk of our goals this season. I also think whenever he's spoken he's come across very well, and I think he knows this is his last chance to manage at this level in football. You might think all this means nothing if he can't manage a team which is true but all I'm saying is I'm certainly not as against his appointment as I was when he first got appointed, I don't wanna sound like that knob Cheston who has been singing Coyles praises. But I definitely think coyle should be cut some slack a bit as so far he hasn't done much wrong. And I'm glad the SEM talk has died down a bit now I was getting sick of that haha. Is anyone else of a similar view?

No, but my opinion of you has definitely changed. ;)

Yep a specialist manager and specialist board would have sorted this club 4 years ago.

If he had come out, explained the SEM links and how he used to be involved with them but guaranteed he wasn't anymore, I'd have been prepared to give him a touch more leeway. However, blatantly lying to the fans on one of your first days says a lot about the man, and no amount of spin will change my opinion of him.

Talk is cheap. A few loans and freebies sprinkled with a huge dose of positivity ain't gonna change my opinion on him. Everyone is getting pulled in by his chat in the papers, the talk of PL loans etc. For some reason it has whetted people's appetites. What's the big deal about these PL youngsters?! When Venky's arrived, Hanley, Lowe, Henley etc were these same types of players we are trying to sign now! I'm not going to praise Coyle for working hard to sign players. It's in his job remit and he'll be getting paid handsomely enough.

This is a results business, anyways. Though I have a feeling Coyle will remain regardless of results.

Sums up my thoughts too. Becoming more convinced Coyle fulfilled the two real criteria in our management search 1 having the right connections to be a puppet and 2 coming with a media friendly excuse as to why people object.

Butty, it's all about results for me.

I was underwhelmed (to say the least!) by his employment, and I don't think he will succeed but I'll gladly be singing OC's B&WA if we are top of the league after ten games.

If he gets this rag tag bunch promoted, brings back thousands of fans and give us some way to breathe without debt - I'd be happy to call him a Rovers legend!

That's the way it should be. Don't expect it, but his burnley past is irrelevant. As is his agent at this point IMO.. If we go on a bad run and he becomes "unsackable", that's when id be more worried about his representatives and the potential "smoke and mirrors".

The big picture is always Rovers doing well. He could have Hitler as goalkeeping coach for me.. Well maybe not, but the point remains.

I can't grumble at the signings so far also but all 6 could perform badly so jury is out.

That's the fickle thing about football. There may be a few here who will hold grudges, but I'd love to move on from the past. The bragging rights being at Turf is hard to deal with, especially being a manufactured decline for us, but still... They could be above us for 50 years and it wouldn't take away the 30+ years unbeaten, Europe, league, cups etc!

Up the rovers.
