bob fleming Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Agree completely. However, we are seeing what would happen in the event we were liquidated. No Blackburn club. Professional football discontinued due to lack of interest. Mods can close the thread though for me. If I may use the word, that's absolutely bunkum.

Doug Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Bit of a precious statement there Stuart .."blackburner"? as probably a third or even more fans live outside Blackburn yet "support" Rovers ..and dont term themselves as "blackburners" Rovers fans yes .. so would a new club appeal to all those ..? hmm A lot of us 'non Blackburners' supported the club before he was born, and still will long after he's given up!
47er Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 Blackburn Rovers still exists. When / if it is liquidated then we'll look to create a Rovers 1875 or suchlike. They'll play at Ewood Park in Blue and White halves. Everyman and his dog will know that it's the same team (although legally it won't be). They'll also know that the previous club was destroyed by The FA, Agents and Venkys. Until that point of liquidation it shouldn't be a topic for discussion IMO. You were going well till the last sentence Bob. Never a bad time to discuss a good idea.Gets people thinking. Won't have any negative effect on what Venkys do, as if that were possible!

Won't have any negative effect on what Venkys do, as if that were possible! Just gets people thinking that's all. I thought about editing that bit believe it or not. You're absolutely right. Think about it as a possibility, that's about it though. Hopefully.
broadsword Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 I can certainly understand the thinking. I mean who would want another six years of this? It's bloody Unbearable
Neal Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 With that lot stating they're "still committed" the day is probably approaching to start discussing this idea.
OJRovers Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I think now is the time. The club is now nothing like it once was except for the name and the badge. Its a massive opportunity with so many people disillusioned with the way things are going. Said it in the other thread, but "Blackburn 1875" being run by proper Blackburn fans for the fans would instantly get a couple of thousand fans interested. In a few years if things go well, with Rovers in League One or even League Two, then I can potentially see more fans wanting to watch a fully committed "Blackburn" team than Venkys Rovers.

Couldn't disagree more. Not interested in anything but BRFC and if it ceases to exist, so will my support of a local football club. Fans can choose their own avenues to go down, and mine is not going to change on that front. There is no such thing as Venky rovers. Despite ownership, managers, players - one thing remains and has done for 100+ years - the badge and what it stands for. Just giving up on that and starting a new club without the history? No thanks. I'd rather try and preserve what three generations (at least) of BRFC fans have helped build up by support.
chaddyrovers Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Correct there jbizzle. Couldnt agree more there
Amo Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 No thanks. I'd rather try and preserve what three generations (at least) of BRFC fans have helped build up by support. And how are you going about that, other than sleepwalking into oblivion like the rest of the herd?
1arC Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I think most fans would agree that starting a new club is a bad idea and one born out of desperation and frustration. If we do go bust and cease to exist, then I would hope that forming a new club at that point, would give rise to some sort of future for a football team in the town. That did happen with Hereford and the last time I checked, they were on the up.
Hasta Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 If Rovers ceased to exist (and only if), and another club was formed at Ewood, it would have my support. If another club formed whilst Venkys still owned Rovers, or if another club formed after Rovers had gone bust, and their future was to play elsewhere in Blackburn I would probably not support that. As I'd be closer to Darwen and the Anchor Ground I'd probably go watch them.
OJRovers Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Fair enough to those against the idea. I just think that there is an opportunity there to start a new team if Venkys are around for the next 5,10,20 years, there's going to be a lot of people in the town who just want the enjoyment of going to watch football and support a properly run club who care about the fans. It wouldn't be BRFC but i'd be one who would give it a go and see if it could fill the saturday afternoon football void.

They may as well switch to their local club at that point.

wazzarover Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 The problem has always been that there's not enough fight in Rovers fans to take protesting to the next level, the level of apathy at Ewood is outrageous. For a Phoenix club to work there has to be disenchantment on a whole different scale to ours.

If there was another club to start up then I wouldn't it to be related to Rovers, I'd like it to be it's own thing. The Blackburn Olympic idea could be interesting though and I like the name.

JBiz Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 And how are you going about that, other than sleepwalking into oblivion like the rest of the herd? It's called support. You know? There is a game on, go to it. The suggested alternative (another club) is just not going to happen for me, I will not be involved. Why the pops about sleepwalking or sheep? I could take it from GM or someone putting the effort in but from you, whose entire interest in Blackburn Rovers is on the internet - I think it's a bit rich.
USABlue Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Jesus H, we have not yet buried the first wife and we ate talking abiut getting engaged again?. Sorry not for me. Rovers die my heart goes to the grave with them. I'll not be interested in any spin off. Probably go with Stanley.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted October 18, 2016 Author Posted October 18, 2016 Jesus H, we have not yet buried the first wife and we ate talking abiut getting engaged again? Some would argue the first wife died 5 years ago and it's too painful waiting another 5, 10, even 15 years for the funeral. How old's Balaji? Might even be 20 or 30, if the body hasn't decomposed by then itself.

Not sure I could invest emotionally in a new club, but I would give it a go. Has to be better than supporting crime, greed and negligence. Could never ever support a rival, or switch allegiances. Would rather take up bowls. It would have to be a phoenix club born our of our ashes in some aspect.

What you could do is get together and invest the enjoyment we've had taken away from us at Rovers and create something totally new and fun. It wouldn't be Rovers but I personally wouldn't want it to be, it would need to be seen as relief from the circus. As a Blackburn lad it would have to be a Blackburn club. Can't see it ever happening any time soon though.
47er Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Same as the last 2 posts. I could never support another club but I would support a Phoenix club that played in the Blackburn area, wore blue and white halves and clearly identified with the ashes club with its name, whatever the law would allow which contained the word Rovers. Rovers of Blackburn 2017, or Blackburn Rovers 1875 or even just "Rovers". It wouldn't be necessary to play at Ewood though I would prefer it because all my memories are there but plenty of other clubs have new grounds and that does not appear to have ended badly. Quite honestly I can't see what else Ewood could be used for or of anyone else who would use it. But, same supporters, same shirt, same town, I see that as RECLAIMING OUR HISTORY. I cannot understand those who would turn their backs on it. Cutting your nose off to spite your face comes to mind.
