Gutted.

I didn't think we deserved to lose that.

The defence looked much more solid with the two new defenders, both of whom acquitted themselves well.

I thought Akpan did OK but didn't really notice Guthrie.

The front four were poor overall even though Graham had a couple of half chances.

I think Samuelsen should have come on in place of Feeney, it would have lifted everyone.

The crowd was excellent again.

Graham should have got the 1st half chance on target

Stats read that Fulham scored one more than Rovers.

Table reads that Rovers are bottom.

It's really all that matters Jock.

Coyle said in channel 5 we showed today what a good team we can be...

I can't bring myself to watch Coyle speak, I absolutely hate the guy. I don't want to return to the anger I felt under Kean so I avoid his pressers. He's so full of dung and has no self-awareness about it it's painful.

I'm the same.

Can't stand the lying clown. Reminds me so much of Kean, I ain't going through all of Coyle's bullplop as well.

He models himself on David Brent

An improved performance despite never looking likely to win the game. The new lads seem to have strengthened the back line. Hoban and Greer looked good together in the centre and Williams seems a very steady left-back. The main issue for me is still the midfield. Marshall doesn't want to know, Akpan and Guthrie are very limited and Conway remains the only threat. I thought Parker and Cairney completely dominated in midfield and Fulham looked far quicker in their movement and played with more purpose going forward. Defensively, we looked better and there is a platform on which to build but unless we can inject some quality into the middle of the park we are always going to struggle to score goals. The next few days will be vital in terms of deciding our season. At the moment we are simply not good enough to stay up.

Agree parson and to be fair , the ones you have highlighted as being the weaker ones are what Coyle got left with. Not defending him... just saying.

The next few days will be very telling in terms of what they allow him to bring in.

Does anyone know who the 4 Indian dudes were sat in the Directors area, they started rubber necking when the Venkys out chants started, very smartly dressed and had business written all over them

Mixture of good and bad today. I believe for the first time that we can be competitive in this division when the new signings settle in. The support was excellent in the second half and a better populated Blackburn End would have been great.

Their goal came about because Lowe was nowhere near his man as usual. I thought Williams at left back was terrific. Composed and aggressive with a couple of great long passes across the full width of the pitch and comfortable in possession. Hogan was quietly competent and Greer was clearly happier without the erratic Duffy beside him. I think we would have won with Marshall at right back.

Gallagher was ineffective and I would have replaced him with Stokes much earlier; maybe at half time. I thought Graham should have scored a couple and looked largely disinterested until the referee unfairly penalised him which sprang him into life.

I would have taken a chance with Samuelson rather than Feeney as he might have put Fulham on the back foot. The last fifteen minutes were open with both sides thinking they could nab a win.

I think we will lose at least two of the next three fixtures leading to Coyle's sacking. Ironically, I do think we now, astonishingly, have the makings of a decent squad with a bit of depth. I think Coyle, for all his failings as a strategist has done well in an impoverished market and the likes of a Paul Lambert would whip this bunch into a decent outfit.

Makings of a decent squad?

Surprising to say the least.

Maybe I'm looking at the league table standing on my head, and we're actually top of the league.

I wrote about two hundred words there; of which you quoted five.

Context dear boy, context!

I've not taken them out of any context.

Your words were clear :)

I wrote a considered match report and posted it on the appropriate thread. Perhaps you would like to provide a review of the game as you saw it and I will make sure to appraise your efforts.

This is what happens when you have a relegation season.

You start off terrible, you pick up slowly but continue to lose, you start to find your fight and pick up the odd win but you get to Christmas and you're well adrift. You make a determined start to the new year but it tails off as the futility of the situation is acknowledged by all.

We won't be getting out of this

Problem is, even if what you say is true about a decent side - and I'd suggest in 12 months time when age or loans have kicked in and we have no defense or cover for our strikers that the decent part will be much tested - Coyle couldn't get a tune out of them whatsoever.

Was saying on another thread Derby have a cracking team - Ince, Bent, Hughes in the midfield, Carson in goal - but can't do anything. For all their talent they're not getting anywhere. That's where strategy and tactics come in and in and Coyle is lacking very badly in that area. This is a league that needs fight and tactics and under Coyle we have neither and so are doomed.

Other examples include Burton and Barnsley - poor quality teams but they're getting points on the board, or Rotherham - they look abysmal at the moment, yet nearly the same group were kept up comfortably with Warnock. A good manager with the right attitude and tactics makes all the difference, as example after example shows. Coyle is a difference maker in a different sense.

Oh and the decent squad thing still baffles me. Once the loans return we are threadbare, whilst we've still a few key holes in the side including cm and gk.

Relegation fodder written all over it. I actually thought we were significantly improved today in comparison to our previous 4 games in the league, and yet we still manage to find a way to lose, at home, to what will no doubt end up as a mid-table side come the end of the season. It was the first time this season that we looked like a side with some sort of identity, shape, organisation and resilience, and the 0-0 would probably have been a fair result, yet it doesn't mean anything in the scheme of things.

That's now 3 points dropped in the dying few minutes of our last two home games against Burton and Fulham. Unforgiveable really, and a clear as day indication that we're only going one way.

One thing alarmed me more than anything else today. When the 4th official put his board up for 6 minutes injury time Coyle looked absolutely furious that so much time had been added on. He approached the 4th official and said something, which looked as though he wasn't happy with the amount of time added on. From that we then spent the majority of the 6 minutes camped around the edge of our area desperately trying to hang on for the point

If we're going to have any chance then we need to look upon 6 minutes injury time as an opportunity to go on and win the game. That's what Fulham seemed to do whilst we decided to retreat in some desperate and doomed attempt to hold on for a 0-0 at home despite still awaiting our first win of the season. I wanted to see the manager urging his team on to try and find the much needed winner in that 6 minutes, and yet all he did was moan at the 4th official and then sit down as his team backed off before inevitably conceding.

Another positive, after Rotherham's thrashing at Barnsley today we no longer have the worst goal difference in the league!
