majorstyre Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I had a problem with my all singng and dancing remote control gas fire earlier so I had to contact the makers " Legend " . It turns out they're based in Blackburn and they put me on to a service engineer that specialises in these fires. Two guys turned up, both ex - Rovers fans that used to go regularly. They said they've got out of the habit completely, don't take any interest in the club, don't look for the scores on Saturday anymore etc. When I asked them what would entice them to come back to Ewood in the future they both said the same thing - " Nothing ". That's them finished with Rovers and football. I suspect a good half of the fans we've lost will never set foot in Ewood again. Crap fires by the way, worst thing I've ever bought. One time I went to turn it off to go to bed and the bloody thing wouldn't turn off ! The batteries in the actual fire had run down, remote was ok. After about 3/4 of an hour of trying it went off. I need to get rid of it really but it was bloody expensive. completely agree.... ive boycotted this season after 35 seasons+ as a season ticket holder....felt enough was enough.... ive now got to the stage where other things in life have taken priority, and Saturdays have different meanings. even got the last few weekends, i even forgot there were games on ... will i go back if things change ? - i dont know now...prob not

ABBEY Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 I understand boycotting home matches Gumboots but away matches don't give the owners any revenue so if it hurts so much why not take in a few away matches? I fully understand your stand but I can't see why the odd away match would compromise it.It does al if you buy a ticket before the game . Pay on gate doesn't .

Out of the 12000 or so ST holders we've lost, the majority won't be seen again. And who will replace them?

I was speaking to a few ex Rovers fans through my work recently and all said they wont be coming back ever. Alot fed up with Football in general, got family to spend time with. One fan who walk away said he did after Hughes left and hasnt followed results for 5 years. He spends his time with his missus and 2 kids. He doesnt watch football anymore. More interested in Cricket now. I asked if he ever been contact about why he give it up. Said once but never since then.
PeteJD13 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I walked away when Kean was appointed, I then moved to Cardiff and didn't miss going especially with the darkness that was enveloping the club with work and ended up watching them with one of my mates I spent a lot of time working on a steam loco ( my other passion). I moved back up north last year I got a season ticket, tbh with a young daughter I do not attend mid week games even Saturday games I miss as I want to do things with my family. I go on my own to home games and to be honest the will to keep turning up is waning certainly on a regular basis.
tomphil Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 You'd be amazed how quick a lot of these would change their mind after a change of ownership, some proper investment and some decent footy. We can't be accepting that everyone is gone for good otherwise we'll never get shut of this lot who'll happily just leave it to rot it seems. The way things are though we'll only keep going one way and even staying up your looking at official gates of 8.5k next season when there isn't a big away crowd. We've seen it all before and if alarm bells aren't ringing in Charlies office and Pune and wherever else then we might as well all give up. To think we are on course to be on smaller crowds than Wigan Athletic..........shocking !

If we went away we might be tempted to go to Ewood too. Easier to boycott totally
Rover_Shaun Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Attending football is habit. Nothing more, nothing less
EgyptianPete Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Attending football is habit.passion Nothing more, nothing less Ahem sorry Abbey but i think it is.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 After 50 odd years it's become more than that for me.
Baggie192 Posted December 3, 2016 Posted December 3, 2016 For what it's worth lads You have my sympathies I know it isn't much but what's happened is disgraceful. I've knackered my back which is why I'm at my game. But, I admire the resolve of anyone who boycotts
Mike Graham Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I put mine in the fire Abbey, I could not be bothered walking to the post box. As for the next few games I do not even have a clue who Rovers play in our next game on Saturday nor over the Xmas / New Year period. The Xmas games are normally a bit of a money spinner, I doubt many Rovers fans will turn up whoever it is they play. I will be shooting next Saturday. I give it two barrels: they are called "Venkys" and "Anderson".

chor808 Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 two games this week and I'm not going to either. even last year i would have found a way to drive up for the Tuesday match and been a cert for Saturday. 7 year old lost interest and I'm not buying anything from the rovers store until the low lifes are gone.
ABBEY Posted December 11, 2016 Author Posted December 11, 2016 i will be honest i actually have no idea who we actually play midweek...makes feel so upset.

Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I had to go to a family meal yesterday so I didn't even watch the game. My youngest son is still keeping the faith so he slipped off home to watch the match. Would I have watched it if I was able ? Probably not, that's how low I've got. When he didn't send me a text I knew we'd lost. I still felt that empty feeling in the pit of my stomach when I saw the score later. I haven't bothered to watch the highlights, sounds like there wasn't any. It gets worse as you get older. One day we'll rise again, I have no doubt about that. It's just weather I'll be here to see it that bothers me !
gumboots Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 What really hit me was seeing rovers mums pics from the disabled do and realising I didn't know most of the players
1864roverite Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 I really have lost all faith now. I am definately not renewing next season in fact I wont go near the place until this lot and Coyle have gone. I have made the decision to carry on going for the rest of the season but I am not really bothered if I miss a game. Coyle Cheston and the rest of the incompetent imbeciles have killed my club and all of my love for it.
tomphil Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 Henley and a few others on the train to Manchester at 4pm ish yesterday. Maybe they were on their Xmas do but an odd day to go and they were just probably on the lash of going to the boxing. Teams mates in a local derby though and considering a lot of his pals are Nobbers and Rovers you might expect these lads to have been watching at Deepdale.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 What really hit me was seeing rovers mums pics from the disabled do and realising I didn't know most of the players I always buy my son a Rovers calendar for Xmas. It's a bit of a standing joke now. How many will be sold by time their page comes around ? I couldn't have identified any of the photos on the back.
