[Archived] Meeting With The Club - Brfcs Attendees ?

Who were they representing/how did they get an invite?

there was a broad spectrum of people from various groups and supporters not from groups who didn't take the opportunity to take a question...bearing in the mind the nature of the evening, I find it a bit odd that people wouldn't take that opportunity.

Andy I've seen this comment in several places, mainly Twitter links people have posted. I don't do Twitter so can only see it on links.

I may have misunderstood but I thought this meeting was for supporters "representatives" or groups. Are you saying the meeting was open to all?

If it was open to all can someone point to how and when the club advertised this as I certainly was completely unaware I could have attended as an individual fan.

Is it correct the Rovers Trust did not attend?

there were some supporters there who as far as I'm aware weren't affiliated with any particular group, although I read somewhere that the club had the discretion to invite a small number of supporters - how they decided who they would invite, I haven't got a clue.

Some just like the opportunity to rub shoulders with the 'great and the good' of the thing they love. I thnik the Rolling Stones called them Star-f****rs! Or the 'RT' as they are known today!!

Which is why, Coars faux-pas aside, these PR stunts by clubs are a waste of time on any meaningful level, but a nice jolly for those who want to meet the manager of their club.

Maybe just get Coar really drunk next time and film it.

Who are these 50-75% of fans who sat there in silence? Anyone know them? How did they get there, who invited them?

Are they Rovers Fans? What group did they represent?

As for the person who shouted "dick-head" as he left, you've let us down there. Those people already think they are superior to the fans and you have reinforced their preconception of us as yobs and plebs. Utter contempt from a superior moral position is the way to get to these guys.

In that respect, why don't we conscript Marion next time(if there is one)! Some quiet and dignified intelligence reflects well on all of us.

There was a mix of people both affiliated to groups and those who I presume were invited by the club. Whoever shouted "knob-head" definitely let themselves down although that was a one-off on an evening were although a frank exchange of opinions took place at times, it was on the whole kept professional, polite and in my opinion acceptable given the depth of feeling.

That is quite surprising that people take the trouble to go and say nothing. I would guess that the 75% who said nothing is deemed by the likes of Cheston to be representative of supporters who are happy. I can see him putting a positive spin on that when reporting back to Pasha.

For the record do you have a list of who was there from each fan group?

I doubt that meeting last night could be spun in a positive way in terms of the fans being happy or even mildly satisfied with how the club is being run. Even if those at the top didn't know before last night, if they say they still don't know then they are lying to the fans, themselves and Venkys.

I don't have a list, although I'm pretty sure a note was being made of people attending as we came through the door. Hopefully that will become apparent when they publish what was said which I'm led to believe should be within the next three days.

personally I didn't see it as a waste of time, more an opportunity to look Robert Coar and Mike Cheston in the eye, tell them that I disagreed with their viewpoint and approach but more importantly, tell them why rather than just firing off an email that can be deleted before it is even read. Also if Mike Cheston sticks to his commitment to arrange a meeting between the fans and Sohail (sp) Pasha BEFORE the next scheduled meeting then something practical will of been achieved as well.

At what point will it become a waste of time? I almost fell of the chair reading that Andy.

You've criticized someone calling Coar a kn0bhead but not criticized Coar from threatening legal action for a fan asking a question?

I've a lot of time and respect for you as a poster, but its obvious you've learnt nothing since the trip to Pune.

well clearly if there is no owner representation at the next meeting then in my opinion it would be a waste of time and can state there would be little/no value in either having the meeting or indeed attending.

The comment was made away from the microphone and can genuinely say that I didn't hear it, although I have no reason to disbelieve it. What I can say is that there clearly seemed a bit of tension between certain members of the BRAGAG and Robert Coar and it was a two way thing. I have learnt to take with what I hear a lot more sceptically and were the opportunity was allowed, came back with counter points and/or supplementary questions.

It's actually confirmed the total incompetence of those here on the ground and the fact all decisions come (eventually) from India, probably only after Skype calls will the other partners dotted around the globe. The non existent board have confirmed their zero power now on record.

Chestons credibility as top director is shot to bits he's just the day to day accountant although at least he's trying with the community stuff but he's supposed to run the football side of things. That again is left to India and their invisible henchman who's main aim is to get the club running on a shoestring bit by bit.

Owen Coyle is the only person at the club who knows anything about football whatsoever.

I'd say sack the board but there isn't one to sack.

The entire fan base should be angry towards Coar for his 'head in sand' approach to everything thats gone on here over the past 6yrs. The question about him looking into Jacks eyes was very pertinent and hit a nerve, the man should resign his position and retire he's not fit to hold any position at the club in my opinion.

As for getting owner representation in the room, absolutely pointless, serves only to buy them and the club more time, come on Andy for gods sake, the time for talking is over.

No Neal, not spineless, simply that a good percentage of our fan base have a different opinion to yourself about things. As with all things in life people hold different opinions and different views.

Spineless, selfish or stupid.

you can't ask for all fans to come together and then label anybody who doesn't agree with you the above. I don't always agree with Mike, but would never resort to this sort of thing. Does you no favours whatsoever...

I didnt ask, i stated. If my posts are going to put people off fighting for the club then it comes back to my first point... Spineless.

Precisely and is why I rarely bother to express an opinion or think out loud about these matters. The whole debate has boiled down to two groups, those who boycott in some fashion and those who still attend. Anyone still attending is defined as supporting the Raos in some way and under those circumstances there is no point in having a discussion with people who have chosen to boycott.

While can see where you're coming from, calling people makes them get defensive rather than get onside.

That being said, anyone not outraged by fans being threatened legally for asking a question is not someone I want in the trenches with me.

so because X number of people don't agree with you and your robust approach, they are spineless?

No. Fighting for the club comes in many different forms, chanting, banners, boycotting etc... but anyone not willing to fight for the club after everything that has occurred is spineless. Its funny how certain folk get touchy about such comment's though.

You can still attend and protest, whilst i'd prefer a mass boycott i respect those willing to turn up and show their anger.

It's easy to respect people's right to disagree when you're the guy fiddling while Rome burns. Like an ostrich they bury their heads in the sand, engage in a wilful self-delusion that protests are futile, that this is our natural level, that it was just as bad in the seventies, etc. Whatever they need to tell themselves to show up and be a good little supporter. Fans have all the power to change things but the irony is they don't realise it. A mass boycott could be used as leverage against the owners but unfortunately the divisive nature of protesting cuts across people's allegiances and prevents us from having a united front.

That statement on the website is just bonkers. They have said several times now that they remain committed to the club, yet their actions seem to indicate the opposite. They say they want to get the club back to "where it truly belongs". We can assume that this is the Premier League. Yet they are cost cutting on the playing side. This makes no sense. It seems like no-one has a clue as to which direction the club is going in. If the Venkys would come out and reveal their plan(if they have one) atleast we would have some idea as to what the future holds. They could easily come out and say "we dont want to put more of our own money in, therefore we are cost cutting and we accept that this might mean league 1 status". Atleast we would know the intent. Its the uncertainty that kills you.

there may be many reasons why people either can't or won't get involved in protesting against the owners - have you ever thought of that? Who are the certain folk who get touchy? You obviously have people in mind, so you may as well just come out with it...
