JohnD Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Sad to see he has passed away. I remember watching him in much happier footballing times.

Proudtobeblue&white Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 70 is no age these days, just before my time, over 100 appearances. Always sad to see a former player pass.
RevidgeBlue Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 What a great player he was for us in the 74-75 Championship season. Just the sort of player we could do with now. RIP.
yoda Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 What a great player he was for us in the 74-75 Championship season. Just the sort of player we could do with now. RIP. Certainly was, one of my all time favorites
the original david brent Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 He was a guest speaker at the 74-75 / 94-95 celebration dinner last year
arbitro Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Really saddened by this. He was a hard man when the game was hard. I maintain that he helped Derek Fazackerley become the player he was after playing alongside him. Another hero gone for me. RIP Graham and condolences to his family.
den Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Sad news. Presented us with footballing medals at Prestons Top Rank! Nothing but good memories of an ex PNE player. The other ex PNE player for us was Ken Knighton. Both quality footballers.
Waggy76 Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Immense for the Rovers in 74/75 season , a proper player when the game was played by men ! Rip and thanks for the memories !
rigger Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 A player who brought a little joy to my Rovers supporting days. Thank you.
yoda Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Was it Graham Hawkins that scored that 45 yarder into the Darren end, might be getting confused with one of the other centre halves of the time
grinder Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Nice tribute here http://www.wolves.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/graham-hawkins-a-tribute-3334709.aspx Solid centre back - can still see his distinctive blond hair as he headed it out of defence - as mentioned above just the sort of player and attitude this club needs now RIP
sw0808 Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Was it Graham Hawkins that scored that 45 yarder into the Darren end, might be getting confused with one of the other centre halves of the time think that was John McNamee. But very sad to hear the news about Graham - great memories from great times - no money but shed loads of spirit and passion at Ewood in those days
oldjamfan1 Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I met him at O'Connor's dentists in Darwen when I was just a kid of about 11 or 12. He was a lovely man, spent ages talking to me even though he had just had anaesthetic and probably felt as if he was drooling all over the place! RIP Mr Hawkins and condolences to your family.
Mercer Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Pound for pound, must have been one of Rovers' best ever signings. A £20,000 bargain from PNE. RIP Graham Hawkins.
47er Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 think that was John McNamee. But very sad to hear the news about Graham - great memories from great times - no money but shed loads of spirit and passion at Ewood in those days It's a strange thing but we often had pretty weak teams but we invariably had terrific keepers and centre-backs. You could fill a page with them.
RevidgeBlue Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 Immense for the Rovers in 74/75 season , a proper player when the game was played by men ! Rip and thanks for the memories ! Hard but lest anyone gets the wrong impression, very fair I thought, not like McNamee who certainly wasn't averse to kicking lumps out of an opponent if the occasion required.
TonyM Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 A great player - that 74-75 season still has a very special place in my memory.
funny-old-game Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 A great player - that 74-75 season still has a very special place in my memory. Port Vale away, what a day!
